Hunted: The Demon's Forge6
Sep 4, 2013
A decent game. It brings no innovations at all, but it's rather well made for what it is. The online component is very outdated (GameSpy) and I only tried it briefly for coop (which was quite a pain to set up). Eventually, I just played solo. The story is ok, as are most of the characters, but it feels like it tries to compress a whole universe into just one story. I can think of plenty of other titles that did this but it didn't bother me, so I guess it speaks to the quality of the writers.

Diablo III4

I don't think I need to repeat what the whole internet is saying. Some points for the graphics, cinematics and soundtrack. This game took me to the highest highs and the deepest lows (in a very specific segment of my life, of course): most excitement I ever felt about the launch ****, then gradually but surely descending to the most disappointment I've ever had from a game. Now I just don't care, uninstalled it.

Bastion9
Jan 26, 2013
I liked the concept, characters, story and audio (soundtrack and voice acting) for Bastion much more than I liked it in other AAA titles. It's a simple game, but well made and carefully tuned. It's immersive and really has a way of creating an atmosphere. I found very little glitches (i think all of them were in the AI pathfinding), and the reason why I'm giving it a 9 is because the character movement and fighting are often annoying

Trine 2: Goblin Menace6
Jan 20, 2013
I finished Trine and Trine 2 so I think I can safely make a comment on Goblin Menace without suspicion of being impotent at this type of games. I had a bit more trouble in T2 than in 1, but it wasn't anything I couldn't handle, and it was still very fun and satisfying. Goblin Menace takes it to a whole different level though, which makes me feel that it was designed for hardcore players. If this were true and the difficulty was intentional, I would just say "not for me" and move on, but I feel the design is bad. The environments are often very confusing (ex. "that looks like a platform?, yeah, let's jump there..." - [falls to death]), experience orbs and flasks become increasingly brutal to get (toward the end there were some parts where the only possible way I could see was to commit suicide while getting them, then just respawn at checkpoint), and some platforming puzzles are so extremely "just so"-esque that, although you know exactly what you need to do, you just fail over and over and over and over and over (etc.). In T2 I actually tried getting all the secrets and some of the more unusual achievs, but in GM I abandoned that thought and only wanted to finish the damn thing. I got to the final boss, but I was just exhausted and when I realized it's just another obvious but very frustrating encounter, I just quit and uninstalled.

Assassin's Creed III5
Jan 2, 2013
I really hope Ubisoft will take note of the feedback this game receives. It would be a big shame if they didn't do a better job on the next one, because this is one the best gaming franchises ever made and, even after almost putting my boot through the PC display plenty of times while cursing in ways I didn't know I could, I still enjoyed it and it's still Assassin's Creed. Unfortunately, it's a fine example of a hunt for profit by doing an "almost half-assed" job, to quote PC Gamer, by making some bad decisions like releasing it with a LOT of glitches and bugs (which prevent 100% completion!!!), having some totally cryptic and counter-intuitive mission design (as in: knowing what you need to do), and bloating it with extra features that are out of context and sometimes ruin the experience. But then, what else is new. It seems we're living in an age where the big companies are either happy with the initial money they make for some unfinished, crap quality products, or are putting stuff out there knowing that it's unfinished, because people will still buy it, and when the patches start rolling out to make the game what it should have been, people are all like "oh thank you!". And I'm not talking about the studios, we should know better than attacking them: it's a huge industry and it's full of sharks. But I digress. Here are my personal opinions: PROS: - the naval battles - the underground (although it's very uneventful, it still feels so cool) - the upgraded fighting mechanics CONS: - setting is boring - Connor is boring - optional objectives are often hard to read in all the commotion and I couldn't find a way to review them after the pop-up fades, besides restarting the checkpoint all over again - optional objectives vary from "accidentally did it" to "lost 2h retrying it 27 times and I want to die now" STUPID AND MORONIC (yes, I'm frustrated): - chasing those f***ing pages - losing control of the camera when enemy ships are spotted often made me crash into rocks/ships/whatever and restart the whole damn thing OR interrupted a shot just when I was about to fire

Although there are some interesting concepts, this game doesn't stand out in any way... the story is easily ignorable, and once you get past that it's just room after room of mobs and some puzzles. The visuals are boring and often times I was confused by the environment

A fantastic game with an epic storyline. I see many complain about the controls, I finished it twice with an xbox controller and it's flawless... maybe some games are just meant for a gamepad. Otherwise, though, there is only one bug that I (and apparently the community) know of. I give it a 9 only for the grief it gave people w/o gamepads

Fable III5
Jul 26, 2012
I played the first Fable and then went straight to this one, because I don't own a console. I don't remember much about F1 but I know that I was into it and it kept me playing till the end. It was fun and had a lot of original bits. I didn't find Fable III to offer neither. I'm not a fan of the series and went in without expectations, good or otherwise, but the first thing that struck me was that it tries to convey a serious message through some very childish means (dancing with the blacksmith so he'll give you a discount, really?). I tried to keep playing, but it just became too annoying and boring about 3h in, then I just read some of the other reviews and noticed the pattern of "it's too easy", "the story is flat/nonexistent" etc. and decided it's not worth it. I did give it a 5 though because the graphics are quite nice (nowhere near current PC capabilities, but they made good use of their lemons) and because overall it's well executed. But it's a bad idea.
