Enjoyable game overall. I enjoyed the combat and the RPG elements in this one. Kinda wish they told the story with new characters instead of the legendary ones. Felt very much like some virtual cosplay and the story just seemed way too cheesy. Maybe it was more impactful for a Japanese player into history, but for a westerner it was rough when it comes to trying to follow the story. Still not exactly sure what the Bakufu is... Either way, top notch minigames in this one!

Really fun game. I think Kojima nailed the gameplay in this one. Best MGS game I have played in this department by far. Being able to free roam, call in a strike or change weather is awesome. But its not perfect unfortunately,. The UI is very poor, the forced online stuff is unnecessary and base management/resource gathering is rather underwhelming. Also, the story was not great. Like don't get me wrong, main beats of the story where good, but overall it was disappointing. Game was basically incomplete in this department and act 2, while gameplay wise was great, story wise was rather horrible. It's a real shame that this is the last game of Kojima in this franchise. We truly were all here just to suffer.

A lovely concept. Reactive shooter, puzzle, card game all into one. Gameplay truly stands out, and the devs have done a good job polishing the game. Its a smooth ride through and trough. Only criticism I have is for the story and characters. Somewhat of a dumpster fire. You want to 100% it because of how fun the core gameplay loop is but the interactions you get are so shallow and boring. Voice actors did an okay job, but you can only do so much with such a cringey and inconsistent plot. While the core premise was ok, I wish they spent a bit more time refining the world as well. Returning to main hub could be a blast like it was with Hades!

My favorite Xenoblade Chronicles game. Really entertaining story. Plot points raised here were at a new series heights. Game asked some very interesting questions that left you to ponder them post playing. I really enjoyed the group of playable characters and the characters we meet along the way. And of course how this ties into the general universe... Chef's kiss. Story wise I truly think they nailed it, especially after playing the DLC epilogue. In terms of gameplay it self, I was very impressed. With the new system fighting big monsters is always fun, and you can take on levels you should not be able to, as long as you properly min max your characters and make the right choices at the combo burst. A real treat for number nerds. Overall top stuff. I would not be surprised if this is the last entry in the series, but I am excited to see the next JRPG from this studio.

If you compare TOTK to BOTW, then yes TOTK beats BOTW overall. But TOTK feels like a very solid expansion pack of the previous game. Exploration has been ramped up, story expanded in a very satisfying way and core gameplay loop remains the same. Biggest milestone is the new feature of utilizing your surroundings to merge weapons and create various tools for transport and destruction. A fantastic addition to the general gameplay. And exploring the various levels was a blast. While the game definitely amazed me, it lacked for me the same WOW factor I experienced with BOTW. In some sense its suffering from its own previous success. I hope they continue with this format of Zelda games, but if they do so completely different map.

What a wonderful game for any Harry Potter fan. I think this is a must play for any millennial that grew up with the movies and books. The game did great justice to the world itself and managed to present a new and interesting story line. The vibe was spot on - ambiance, level design and the general gameplay loop was so rewarding. I do wish choices mattered more and there was a bigger impact from side character missions to the general plotline. Its clear that the game was heavily inspired by Witcher 3 gameplay loop (which to be honest is the case for most open world games) but it lacks in the cause and effect part. Even though the side stories don't affect the world around you, they were a true joy to play through. I guess my main gripe was that it felt a bit like a fantastic and beautiful theme ride. I hope a sequel is in the works and maybe we can explore a school outside UK this time!

Overall I enjoyed Judgment. As a spin-off from the Yakuza it does justice to the general games. Story is fantastic as usual, the new main character is solid and the comedic timing in this game is much better than in other yakuza games. Yagami with Kaito make a wonderful bromance and their chemistry is always fun to observe. Story and main characters brought the game much higher for me. But where the game falls flat is side-content. While I enjoyed the VR game once or twice and drone league was rather fun, everything else was a drag. I decided to commit and finish all the side cases and friendships but it was ultimately meaningless. There was no great pay-off for investing all that time. Only thing I got was more trailing missions. And oh my god, how did that get past play testing. Trailing missions are probably the worst addition RGG studies has had. Really brought down the pace of the game. The side-content was so lacking that I finally learned how to play Mahjong. And no Karaoke? Travesty, those little songs are the backbone of the game series! Dame dame, dame yo...

Got the game for 30 bucks on steam, otherwise would not spend the full price on this one. Probably best civ game to date. If you have never played any of civ games and enjoy strategy games, the this is a must play. I really enjoy the districts and needing to build wonders on specific points on the map. This way if you want to take Pyramids from someone who built them first, all you need to do is check the map. Game is almost perfect, but I find it heavily lacking in end game. This issue has plagued all civs and I hope in the future installation they improve on this. Its always super fun to build out your country the first couple of eras, but once you hit atomic age it turns into a slog. I wish there also was a financial victory available. Next to that I would also like to see some more flair that we had in older games. Make advisors that are more interactive. All world leaders were rags in first era and get better dressed as times go on. This was done in civ 3 and should be done again. Its always neat to see Caeser in a suit, or Abraham Lincoln as a caveman.

My favourite FromSoftware game after Bloodborne. The fantasy and setting makes it like the Dark Souls games but grander and much more colourful. Boss designs are more inspired, regions are fantastic and the general enjoyment is pretty high through out. The sense of wonder in exploration is only beat by Breath of the Wild. Some tid-bits really brought it down for me though. I explored this tough dungeon till the end and once I opened the final door I got a curse which removed a character from the game for me. No more interaction with this character, and no heads up as I had missed the interaction point with it. While the character was not important, game felt very lonely after that and I stopped playing for good 6 months. Once I came back I was determined to break the curse that would have given me the worst ending and I did so, but this break in-between over event that annoyed me does bring the enjoyment down a bit. In a world this grand I wish there were more lines of dialogue. Malenia or whoever was your companion should have popped up much more often in my opinion or at least given us the option to have some extra narration on top. Similairly how the head is at the back of Kratos in God of War. I understand that it would break a bit the "devastated" immersion of the world, but still that's just my preference. All in all great game. Bloodborne's aesthetic and gameplay was better though, would be great if they made that one as grand.

Great game. Loved the setting, honestly surprised that we don't have more games that are directly inspired by the Spanish inquisition. Music, art style, boss designs and general atmosphere was top notch. Unfortunately when it came to gameplay itself the game fell a bit short. While I enjoyed the world I explored, I did not enjoy the form of transportation. Why can I only use 3 relics max? I understand the world is suffering, but do I as a player also need to suffer? Once they are unlocked they should be always available. I hope they improve on general platforming sharpness and allow faster traversal with some relics in the future. I'm glad I played it overall!

I have only played the game that was recently released, I have not played the previous ascii version. Its a very impressive game considering how small the team is, but it simply is not for me. Its clear that it has been the backbone of other games I enjoy more in this genre (Rimworld for example), but the original is not for me. Its not too difficult, and in quite a few ways I find it easier than other city management games. My main issue is that with all its depth its rather clunky. Trying to optimize a sick base or build walls of the same material just takes too much time. While i see how much is in there, and there are plenty of game mechanics I have not explored, all I see so far is how mundane it is. I'll probably return to give it another shot in a couple months. Its definitely good, but the user experience needs to be improved by a lot. If I want to build 4 simple houses, it shouldn't take me minutes to drag and click on what I need, it should take seconds.

Great game, fun for everyone that is not bothered by flashing lights. Has much more depth than it might seem at first. Main issue for me is that the maps get too repetitive rather quickly and the 30 min cap is rather long if you manage to have a god tier build. At that point there should be some option to speed up the clock to 30 by throwing the hordes of enemies immediately on you. Either way, recommend it for everyone! I hope more maps and weapons get added, as currently the game encourages specific builds. After you finish a run you see your stats which highlights which weapons do the most damage. This in turn makes you automatically disregard the ones that have obviously the lowest numbers.

Solid game overall. As other's have noted the core gameplay is very similar to other traditional tactical RPGs and is executed well. I'd recommend playing it on highest difficulty as you out scaled your enemies very early on. Story could be improved as it felt very high-schooley and generic. Not sure what was the point of the "bonded" conversation element. Overall, I think the core elements are great here, More variety in classes, some "merging" between them or significant interaction would improve it a lot more.

My favourite Assassin's Creed game since Black Flag. A fun take on Norse mythology and Viking history. Closest AC has made it to Witcher 3 honestly. Main problem is the gameplay it self, the general loop while fun lacks variety. Need more creative freedom in the open world. But apart from that, the game nails the setting. Eivor is a fantastic character, especially the male voice actor. His story with Sigurd was an exciting one, and the world really pulled me in. I couldn't finish fully Odyssey, but here I managed to 100% while still being invested in the world. I think the element of a homestead was great, its fun to keep returning to such a central location. Hopefully this element stays. Next to that, the music was outstanding. The man who sings most of these songs is called Einar Selvik and he has a band Wardruna that is very old-norse inspired. I have been listening to his albums on repeat now for a good time, and its all thanks to AC Valhalla. Very satisfying conclusion, and I am looking forwards for the next one!

Very solid start to the game. Beautiful aesthetic, relatively fun combat and nice story concepts. But as the game unravels the world starts to feel smaller and smaller. The characters are rather generic and the will they/won't they shtick here is multiplied by 3. Main issue is that once you learn the most powerful move relatively early on, to save time you start spamming it constantly. There is not much incentive to vary things up as that single move is most powerful by far. By the end of it I turned the difficulty down to very easy to not waste time grinding and be done with it. There are some interesting mechanics for future games here, so I'll look out for the next instalment! Chemistry between the main leads was cute though.

One of the most creative games I have ever played. The thought system is a wonderful gameplay mechanic that I hope gets incorporated in more RPGs of this style. At the end of the day its a point and click adventure game as other reviewers have pointed out. As long as you come with an open mind and patience to read, its could be the most rewarding game you have ever played. The story presented here is very human and bittersweet. The soundtrack is outstanding. Main issue with the game is that you'll find yourself saving and reloading on various rolls that you need to do to pass certain checks. This is the only way how you can experience the massive charm this world has to offer. Despite that, the game still is very enjoyable and I'd highly recommend it anyone that's nerdy or enjoys a wacky story! I look forwards to seeing what the game director does next.

A very fun game, but shallow. It has many things going for it. The fact that the game is on Microsoft's game pass, a service that has extremely reasonable pricing is a massive pro. But if I had paid 60 EUR for this, I'd be rather disappointed. The driving itself feels great, the amount of cars is astounding and tuning them is quite fun. But that shallow feeling does not escape. I am not sure how exactly this can be avoided, but maybe work on the world itself more. Its a gorgeous massive map, but what is the point? It feels extremely empty. The online game modes have good ideas, but the size of the map makes them very unfulfilling. Sense of exploration is non-existent, the "story" tid bits are awful and the voice acting is lack luster. Simply amazing. I have always had enjoyed JRPG games, and Persona 4 and 5 truly nails it with the friendship is magic theme. But what kind of keeps those games back is the slice of life high-school setting. The older I get the more disconnected from it I feel. Presenting similar concepts in the world of Yakuza is genius. To quote someone who's games rarely work - "it just works!". Friendship you develop with your fellow homeless people is powerful, and while cheesy at times enjoyable nonetheless. Having played all the previous titles, I believe that the newest title in the series does great justice to the previous legends of the series, while adding a very good new main character. Kasuga really is in many ways an inverse of Kiryu. Loud, extremely emotional and not super sharp. But extremely adorable. I'm glad to hear the series sold well as I want to see more of this character and the new side characters. Gameplay wise its quite standard JRPG stuff. Yakluza 7 is oozing with style, and many of the attacks are very inspired and creative. Playing it really struck me how weird it is that we don't have more RPGs that choose to forgo fantastical elements and just come up with creative over the top real world possibilities. Like a our favourite hobo smelling so bad it lowers the attack and defence of enemies, or calling in a biker to do a headshot with the back of the bike. All in all, one of my favorites in the recent times. Story, music, gameplay, characters, side quests, minigames... Everything simply worked. If you have played the previous 6 games, how can you give anything but a 10. This is the conclusion to Kiryu's journey and anything less would be a disgrace. Sure, the plot might be quite standard for the series and most minigames you have already seen... But its a blast either way. The game is beautiful, both in its presentation and its story. RPG elements are well executed, the new town is super charming and the fresh mini games are very fun. Especially the bar one where you befriend the locals, which nicely colours Onomichi. I have also finally realised what makes Yakuza games so special. Yakuza is like a solid buffet, nothing that is served is extraordinary on its own but having the massive choice and variety makes it the perfect choice for a starving person! Maybe its not perfect (needed more Majima), but the fact that I was enjoying it till the last chapter despite having spent 200+ hours with the characters over the 7 games in total makes this an easy 10 for me. Also, "Today is diamond" is a banger.

Huge improvement over 4th! Finally the plot made mostly sense and the 5 characters tied up quite well overall. Most of the climatic battles were satisfying and well earned. Something new that Yakuza 5 introduced was side story for each character. It differs from regular side quests by having a completely different game mode. For Kiryu this was driving a taxi, and somehow the taxi minigame was quite fun. I really enjoyed most of these. I would give this one a 10 in terms of enjoyment if it wasn't for Shinada. While his plot was enjoyable, and him as a character compelling, he had by far the worst fighting style I have ever experienced. Characters grow and develop their own stories through randomly generated events under an overarching nemesis. I did like 3 campaigns and did get bored, but those campaigns are quite memorable! I think this is a great concept for a game, and only way it could be improved is maybe having a more interesting artstyle (16 bit?) and more variety in the random events. But having an additional run with different difficulty settings seems unnecessary, as there is little incentive to do so. In some ways CD Projekt Red has surpassed itself. The art, music, and level design is amazing. But unfortunately in many others it has taken a step back. Been playing their games since Witcher 1, and the general progress each title held for the company was astonishing. Unfortunately with this title areas that compel me the most in games were lacking. Witcher 3 and its expansions left such a wonderful aftertaste upon completion. While Cyberpunk's experience felt empty. I don't care at all about the bugs many people are plagued by, what I was looking for was an RPG experience. In Witcher 3 you were significantly rewarded for exploring the world. Your choices mattered, and you could see a direct impact on the world from them. But here there is nothing. One of the most expensive games in history, and yet you it does not hold a candle to a game that was done with third or even less of the budget this one did. While there were some very interesting plot points brought up from a philosophical perspective, unfortunately they fell flat at the end of the day. Even their first Witcher had a plot more compelling and memorable compared to what I witnessed here. All in all its a true shame, and for me the writers really screwed up on this title. Makes me wonder if even the same team was working on it. But kudos to the art, level design and music teams. They really excelled and for that gotta bump up the score to a 7/10.
