Puzzle Quest: Galactrix

This game has a bad reputation compared to Puzzle Quest's 1 & 2 the reason for which seems to always boil down to the fact that the battle grid is a hex grid and not a square grid. If you can let mind break down the 4th wall this game is absolutely fantastic. I found myself engrossed in this game far more than the other two Puzzle Quest's. The variation on the classic Match-3 game play was a revelation to me. For years we could only match our jewels, blocks and gems on boring square grids but this game created a deeply innovative surprisingly fun change on the same old same old. The theme was what got me interested in this game (I don't think the world has enough computer space games for casual fun) but the actual game play is why I stayed. I recommend this game to anyone who is fed up with the usual Match-3 games and also loves Fantasy/Sci-fi RPG's. Xbox Live has a demo try the Free Trial and give it a chance.

A fantastic strategy RPG which is not an easy genre to find games to play these days. The graphics are cute adorable and delightfully retro. The battle system is very good easy to use and the inclusion of combo attacks as well as ultimate character specific attacks is great. (I did think the battles would have been easier to fight if the screen rotation hadn't been blocked by scenery so often) The excessive DLC is good and bad. I consider it a wash. The good is you can get an advantage, the bad is you can take advantage and end up one hit killing everything. Where is the fun in that? There is an Auto Battle feature which I used when entering dungeons and caves to find the treasure chest's off along the hidden paths but not much more than that. Auto Battle is nice to have but also is a wash since it's a feature that can be so easily abused. I loved how each character could be customized and changed to either be magic heavy, strength heavy or balanced. The fact that the skills were all interchangeable for each character based on the available attributes of the weapons and armor was very enjoyable to me. I love customizing things and I thoroughly enjoy menu management and this game had a menu that was very easy to navigate. The story was a bit lame but let's face it has anyone here every played a fantastically written J-RPG? Half the time translation's can be the biggest downfall of any imported game. I just wish this game didn't have such a bizarrely sexual inference to it because the game is so good the box for the special edition just makes it seem like porn. I cannot say this enough this game is not porn. It is very age appropriate for teenagers for some reason it just seems they tried to sell the game with sex on the box and in a few double entandre's.

Definitely a great addition to the Orochi Series. This game was an overall satisfying game in so many ways. I have been playing the Dynasty Warriors & Samurai Warriors series's along with the Orochi games since they began. The evolution of the Orochi Series has been fantastic while still building on the base Dynasty and Samurai games. I loved the battle system as well as the weapon fusions. There is an annoying bonds system that involves making certain characters like each other that got on my nerves but if you wait until the 4th chapter to get Moonlight Tea Parties from the bonds building seller it is much easier to just pay money to have two specific characters increase bonds faster. If it were not for this specific feature I'd have had to rate the game down by a lot. I enjoyed the time travel aspect though it does seem like Japanese games are starting to make time travel the new "it" thing and I really really hope the trend doesn't stick. In the end this game was overall fantastic and I can say that all the achievements are possible to get my husband has 1000 of 1000 and he generally is not very good with these games because he gets lost in the maps. I haven't had the time to play as much as he has so far but I think this game is certainly playable from start to finish and still be enjoyable even after you get all the bits bobs and weapons. I recommend it highly to anyone who likes war scenerios, one on one fighters and tactical strategy games. It is a niche genre but it is one people could easily get into so long as they start with the first Orochi game.

This is a game that theoretically should have been fantastic but I just could not play longer than two hours without wanting to never play it again. So many problems were little but when you have too many little problems they all just add up to being impossible to get past. The largest problems for me were as follows: The game was too dark, as in contrast and brightness to hard to actually see the Mors segments. Also the font was impossible to read. I don't think that with a 62 inch Tv I should *ever* have to get up and walk to my Tv to read the character creation screens ( where there was also a light issue that gave me a headache trying to read the too tiny font). The voice acting was terrible beyond belief. I can't believe I ever thought I would say this but Thrillville Off The Rails is no longer the worst voice acting I've ever played through. The graphics were not terrible but they were not good either. The angle of the character to there view of the world was lopsided. What I mean is the character stood at the left side of your screen at an odd awkward angle making it feel like I constantly could not center the camera. Most of all though every time your character Mors or Alestar walk the moment they stop the camera keeps zooming in for 3 seconds. This seems like the smallest complaint by far because it sounds so petty but this is not a petty small complaint because I nearly threw up and got dizzy from it. The game play was hard to follow even with having played Dragon Age Origins. I just couldn't wrap my brain around the battle engine. It felt too difficult too fiddly like you had to play either on idiot easy difficulty or else be some sort of sword wielding savant. I wanted this game to be good I really really did. But it wasn't. It was actually painful to play and it left me wishing I'd never spent the money. Thank God for trading games at re-salers I bought Dragon's Dogma today and feel less like eatin Ramen for a week to make up my stupid game choice purchase. The last time I hated a game this much was when I bought Two Worlds for $5 and felt cheated out of a BigMac and Fries instead.

We all know the ending was bad but my complaint is about the actual game bugs and there were bugs in this game. The very foremost is that the Shepard importer does not recognize Mass Effect 1 created Shepards so if you have a character that you have used since the first game the third game does not recognize it and you have to start a new face from scratch. I consider this a DOA critical error. How did this get past QA!? From the very start before the game even begins you have a broken line of code. That is unforgivable. During game play I encountered other problems such as party members getting frozen in ladders leaving you to fight the rest of the mission alone, invisible faces on Shepard, Garrus dissapeared more than once while talking to him, if you chose a specific plot arc and a character dies that character if they are your love interest the game pulls them back from the dead to have sex with you on the Normandy and then ending has more than one inescapable plot holes. I mean dead characters reappearing as if ressurected from the grave plot holes so big you could drive a Mako through them. This game felt over all rushed and I cannot recommend it to anyone unless you are someone who enjoys a bad game like some people like bad horror films. And yes I found the ending to be fundamentally in contrast to the advertising of this game. Choices ment nothing what so ever in the long run and that is just sad.

While getting to play with Felicia Day is fantastic this DLC is overpriced for what you get. One long drawn out mission and you don't even get to keep the Tallis character like you did with Sebastian. Too self-contained for my liking. The only redeaming quality for me is the chance to get more experience in the first act of the game before the Deep Roads. Other than that I'm actually annoyed I bought the darned thing. Too expensive!

A lot of fun but thoroughly chaotic with more than two players. This is one of those games where what you see is what you get and if you see a fun platformer with cutsey costumes then you are in for a treat because that is exactly what you get. As an adult I find the game fun and can only imagine a child would enjoy it even more. There is a lot of replay value but we are talking repetative replay here. Not much difference between worlds or costumes. I'm afraid though this will become a dlc factory game and churn out too many bits and bobs to purchase outside of the game price. I also find it very dangerous that the game actually allows for xbox live points spending from inside the actual game. Beware parents you kids could spend your money on sheer accident with this one!
