There was, let's say, an interesting idea somewhere there, and particular elements of art direction are well thought through (despite poor implementation). I do not recommend HORSES, if you seek a horror-like game with shocking values - play Song of Saya.
It's an uneven experience. Some episodes are well-paced and have logic puzzles (episode 2 is the best), but others make the same mistakes as all old adventure games and force players to take counter intuitive actions. At some point, you have to decorate a grave to appease a restless soul. If you have not finished another "quest" you have to remove the decorations from the grave, as they are necessary for another puzzle. You have to pick up an item you already used! In such a profound context!!! This example is by far the worst puzzle design in an adventure game I've ever witnessed. Moreover, performance on PC is close to non-playable, you have to reset the game every couple of minutes due to some memory leaks.
Echo of Starsong tries to be a good game in many ways, but fails in one aspect - it is unfortunately boring and I had to force myself to finish it. Unfortunately, it's an unused potential.
Deacon St. John is a likable and interesting character with a great voice acting. Days Gone is one of the most creative open-world games of its generation, must play!
It's way worse than Pony Island and Inscription, solely because some quite lengthy chunks of this game are... boring, which is unacceptable in this "meta-breaking-fourth-wall" genre.
Such a disappointing climax. I actually cannot remember a worse ending execution. So, some plot points are explained within the last 10 sentences, half of them being white text on a black screen, and BOOM, credits. The narration and mood of the game were excellent if it wasn't for the last 5 minutes (seriously!).
Unique experience and a very clever idea. The random number generator should have been tweaked though at the end of the game, as it gets tedious to try to unlock few last scenes. Almost GOTY 2022 if it weren't for Pentiment.
Act 1 and 2 deserve a solid 10/10. Not sure what happened with Act 3, but the game's pacing was disrupted and the writing got worse. Unique, beautiful tale in a historical setting. All in all, it's 2022 GOTY, slightly better than Immortality. Don't start me with Elden Ring, a copy-paste from DS with a repetitive and boring open-world and quest design that would be bad in the 90s. GoW is fine, but it already won GOTY 2018. It's 2022, hello!
Now, this is an intriguing title! Such an original concept for a coop game. Best played with ppl familiar with tabletops, as you need to think a lot before you do. Sadly, it seems the game lacks content. Would play more!
Nothing I haven't seen in any other game and neither element of CoM was above average. Mediocre title, if you like the visuals you might play it with a friend if you get it at a decent price.
If treated as a light comedy, it is surprisingly good and engaging entertainment. On the other hand I'm really sad for people, who think this game has a good story. I don't mean it's awful, again while treated as a comedy it is really good! What I mean for those people is, that they have so much great stories ahead of them!
Wow, someone took everything that was good in Subnautica, stripped unnecessary parts (hunger, crafting), and set the plot in Interstellar^2 twisted-level star system. 22 minutes loop gameplay is realized fantastically. Must play!
I wanted to give 9/10, but I started to think about the drawbacks... and I've found none. One could not simply make this game better, it excels all its ambitions. Must play for computer games lovers (this title will become classic like Portal or Stanley Parable).
Overhyped. 12 Minutes proves how magnificent The Forgotten City turned out to be. Time-loop gameplay is hard to design, and unfortunately Luis Antonio developer failed in the attempt. The very same item given slightly later in the dialogue might lead to a different outcome, usually forcing you to repeat several minutes of repetitive non-skippable part of the game (part is skippable, but not enough). 12 Minutes does not respect the player's time. Save game system (reducing repetition and encouraging experiments) could easily boost the grade 1-2 points up. Besides, the story is a joke!
Boring. I forced myself to continue in the hope it will get interesting. It didn't until the very end. Animations were also bad. Book of goblins (a selection of "fairytales" tied to the story) was the best part of the game.
Except for excellent animations (the best in games' history) and very good graphics, this game has one extra plus. It reminds us how good was MGS V gameplay and how tongue-in-cheek Kojima's writing is superb to Druckmann's graphomania.
Good, sometimes very good dialogues, which are constantly interrupted by repetetive and boring walking/platform sequences. Imagine Persona 5 in which you have to actually walk to the school every day without any dialogue etc. you just waste your time moving from a location A to B every in-game day (NITW has similar day cycle).
Unique gameplay and lovable Trico. Nice riddles. However, it is a very weak 9/10, but kind of obligatory for it's originality. Controls are bad, oversensitive, boy gets punches by solid objects (walls) and bounces back to the players' frustration. It is sometimes very hard to jump off Trico. Devs, what the f? Why didn't you give us combination like left trigger + jump that always forces boy to jump off the beast? If the reason was to make controls simple... well, shame on you game designer/whoever made this call. Moreover, the visuals are almost constantly overexposed to the level that it hurts eyes. It is impossible to play on it in a dark room, unless you want to damage your eyes. I had to restart the game once, because I could not use mirror, even though I had it (forgotten flag set to false?). Must play for PS4 owners, but it could be more polished.
This one is a joke. I think the worst japanese VN might be better than Werewolf: The Apocalypse. Bleak story, weak characters (with no appropriate graphics representation!!!), which are not memorable and player does not give a crap about them... in a freaking Visual Novel! RPG elements exists, but they serve little purpose. A bad joke, unfortunately.
I understand poor players score. The game is unique and hard, which is not the most favorite thing for an average player. However the critics score is abhorrent. GWBW is a survival game, which requires lots of min/maxing. Good music, interesting story, rewarding challenges. It it wasn't for RNG and not always good writing, it could easily be 10/10 material.
"Kentucky Route Zero is one of the deepest and fundamental experiences of the decade." you might read in the review in critic's section. Perhaps, but it does not justify boredom and counter-intuitive design choices. There are other, at least equally deep experiences, like "Disco Elysium" or "Pathologic 2" to name some, which are much more riveting. HOWEVER, it is still worth to buy and play just Act 1 of Kentucky Route Zero. It is interesting, intriguing, has excellent sound design and pacing.
If it wasn't for technical issues, bad enviro graphics and clunky combat it would be a strong 10/10. But this game is not about graphics and combat. Still, 10 would be unfair, as games require time to polish.
The Name of the Rose like atmosphere, classic point&click adventure without tedious and illogical puzzles. Beautiful 2D graphics and interesting plot based on a great book.
Boss fights are not equally fun and engaging. It's great that the game focuses only on one aspect, but it is not top-notch quality. Still, a must play.
Good point and click game, but there are better. The setting is fairly good, but the main character is not particulary likable. He is just too dull. Big minus due to the last puzzle, the game introduces new mechanics out of nowhere and does not explain it.
The story is 9/10, gameplay 8+/10. Overall it is 8/10 due to several things. Economy is unbalanced, most of the time I had too many resources, decision based on them were no brainers. Game has visible pop ups, that could be easily masked (especially during loads and transitions - I also refer to the ending sequence that summarizes the outcomes of your decisions). Stats are bugged, game does not handle cloud save games well and in the end I was informed that the overall walkthrough took 15 hours (while in fact it was close to 40).
Very nice story! After some time it is still memorable. If you like walking simulators this one is one of the best in genre (lesser than What Remains of Edith Finch).
Very good mood, I was waiting for something like this since The Wolf Among Us. Unavowed has a few clever ideas and adds something new to the old genre. If you like point&click adventure games it is a must play!
The best turn-based tactics video game to date. XCOM 2 should have learned from this title that characters with personalities are way better than procedurally generated crap.
It is a true sequel. Developers well understood what was making the original a classic FPS and they built upon this foundation an excellent game. Fast paced dance of death, where death is a player. There is a minor bug though - game engine slips when player is walking on moving platforms, the camera/velocities and controls are shaky and buggy, seriously... if it was such a big deal (which I can imagine it was - although I myself once solved this issue in my game that had the same problem) devs should simply delete moving elements player can walk on.
Good FPS with interesting characters. There is no element that elevates above the "good" though. It is not "must play" title. If you like Blazkowicz/WWII/Tarantino you might enjoy it.
My score is 9+, but still closer to 10, than 9. It would be easily 10/10 without a doubt, if it weren't for 3 things: unfortunately the game engine does not manage thousands of objects and player is forced to see constant pop-ups of objects and their LODs; the quality of certain textures is a joke; one critical bug that removes water from the world is not fixed since 2016 (player walks on the bottom of the sea and one has to use console commands to repair the game). Aside from this it is a gem. Great narrative, an excellent survival game (think of Cast Away). The plot is really interesting, it somehow feels similar to Fallout series, as you have a story told by the environment as well as many logs&diaries.
One of the best game horrors ever made, it can be put on the same shelf with Silent Hill 2. Mood of the game is astonishing and the plot is very clever and interesting. Very close to 10/10!
Excellent, addictive gameplay. Bloodborne offers a unique, indirect story telling approach, which perfectly suits it's lovecraftian lore. Simply put, it is one of the best games ever made.
It starts from an excellent action-sequence, but also punishes and daunts players as there is no save option for the fist 1.5 h. It is a hard design choice, I was very frustrated about it, I quit game for couple of months, but now I understand it. It has flaws, lots of them, but there are the things which NieR does fantastically, things you will remember for a long time. GOTY 2017 and a great candidate to be recognized as a game of the generation.
