The Graduate9
Sep 23, 2014
A great point of view character study. The story follows the resulting actions taken by a young man insecure of his future. All this angst, cause the main character to cure boredom with deep affectionate love. Following his intuition of moral and principles, lead the protagonist to agony resulting from life planning. Going against his values, gives this man a break from reality and a chance at happiness. It's not until the end, that the dream ends for our character. Closing the film in one of the most astonishing ending scene of all time. This film is not only great for the importance of the plot's place in movie history, but it's style of beautiful cinematography and impressive shots at times.

The Maze Runner5
Sep 23, 2014
I've never read the series this is based on, neither will I start doing so, yet it's obvious how undeveloped the characters are depicted comparison to what I assume the source portrays them as. From beginning to end, the cast is forced to depict shallow characters. I bring this up for the reason that the closing scenes lose importance because of this fault in adaptation (I will retrain fom spoilers). Basically we are forced to admire the main character and load his opposite simply on the premise of the books, whose context is absent. The viewer is quickly told who to hate, and without context from the books, this makes the characters and entire film extremely one dimensional. Combine this general flaw, seen in most novel adaptations, with the fact that the starting storyline is ruined by the lame excuse of an ending. The actual maze and the mystery surrounding it held interest in me long until we are shown it's purpose in relation to the characters. Hopefully the follow up will be long enough to develop the cast's roles to legitimately care for their characters. Or not...I won't be watching either way.

Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb9
Jun 20, 2014
With humor and intense acting throughout, Dr.Strange clearly stands the test of time. Easily enjoyable well after the cold war, one can only imagine how hard it would have been to laugh at this scenario back then. The film shows impending doom in two equally greatly written perspectives. The great cinematography of Gilbert Taylor, gives Dr. Strangelove a beautiful aesthetic.

Blue Is the Warmest Color9
Jun 17, 2014
Incredibly long at three hours, Blue Is the Warmest Color is paced as to connect the audience to these believable characters. Beautifully shot and passionately acted, I found it easy to love this film.

The Butterfly Effect6
Jun 16, 2014
With such an original script, it's a shame the ambitious writing didn't create a more compelling storyline. The latter half of the film shows obvious results of writer's block as it become repetitive and the entire premise falls into itself by the end, the final scenes being the weakest of the entire film. The only thing worth watching this for, is the initial setup and minor thrill.

El mariachi8
Jun 16, 2014
Even on such a low budget, this is the best in the Mexico-trilogy films. Well paced from the opening title to the to be continued promise, every scene has a humorous note. An original script with a good amount of shoot outs, this film obviously doesn't take itself too seriously, but manages to keep the momentum till the end.

Salt7
Jul 17, 2013
This is an enjoyable movie, it is thrilling throughout with good action scenes (thanks to a usual good performance by Angelina Jolie) The plot is also very interesting and has a satisfying ending.
Jul 17, 2013
TRON: Legacy8
Jul 17, 2013
Without comparing it to the original, Tron: Legacy is a fun movie. There is action all throughout paired with a cool soundtrack. the story is short and is done with descent acting. Not bad.

Bernie8
Jun 29, 2013
This film stars J.Black, which is enough for me to watch any film, and I honestly think its his best performance to date. I first watched this movie on Netflix without much knowledge of its plot. This allowed me to truly enjoy the film, without any expectations.

O Brother, Where Art Thou?9
Jun 28, 2013
What a great movie this is. The Coen brothers and the rest of the production did a great job. The cinematography is spectacular (thanks to Roger Deakins), and the soundtrack is amazing, they are among the best in any film. And of course the casting was good, Clooney's character is amusing along his co-stars.

Insomnia8
Mar 28, 2013
Directed by Nolan and starring Al Pacino, Insomnia is nothing short of a thrilling masterpiece. This is a great film for lovers of psychological thrillers.

Snatch.9
Sep 2, 2012
This is probably the best British comedy I have ever ****'s full of twist and irony. It's somewhat of a cross between Pulp Fiction and Burn After Reading. I't gets a little confusing when all the characters start running into each other, but quickly resolves it's self. This is a great movie to spend an hour and a half on. Brad Pitt's accent is alone, is worthy enough of your time.

Memento8
Aug 5, 2012
Memento is somewhat overrated. It's an alright movie with okay actors and a good director.Nonetheless, Memento should be praised for a good reason. It is exactly the type of film it want to be, Nolan was going through a hipster phase and decided to make this out of chronological order. And for something this chopped and screwed, it still makes sense by the end.

Piranha 3DD4
Jul 28, 2012
I gave the first one a 6/10, which is a descent score for lame exploitation films like these. Well, unlike the first one, 3DD is a completely waste of time.
Jul 27, 2012
The Dark Knight Rises9
Jul 27, 2012
So far this is my favorite movie of 2012. Nolan's final masterpiece in his Batman series is nothing short of expectations. The score for this film is one the best in recent memory, and better than the previous batman movies. This time around the villain is Bane and Catwoman makes an appearance. Which honestly, I would have not mind if Selina Kyle was portrayed by someone else other than Hathaway. Either way her acting wasn't bad. And as for Bane, well he doesn't make half of a villain as Joker did. But at least Dr. Crane makes an appearance.
Jul 27, 2012
Scarface8
Jul 27, 2012
The first time I ever watched this, I was in the fourth grade. Not my best choice at a young age, but ever since then, Al Pacino's portrayal of Cuban gangster " Tony Montana has stuck with me for the better or worse. Scarface is a movie everyone should watch at least once. And even if its some what overrated, there is no denying this is nothing short **** movie.
Jul 27, 2012
Goodfellas9
Jul 27, 2012
Better paced than The Godfather and more interesting than Scarface, makes this the best mob film ever. Based on a true story, this Scorsese masterpiece shows why he is the god of film making.

Senna8
Jun 30, 2012
I don't always watch documentaries, but when I do, They're good. And that's why Senna is my favorite film in this genre. I don't follow Formula 1, but this is still entertaining.
Jun 23, 2012
The Rum Diary7
Jun 23, 2012
I don't even know why I watched this. I knew the trailers would prove to be the deceiving, it just seemed right to watch a movie that stars the actors that it does. The cast just don't portray anyone interesting. Nonetheless, this isn't a bad film. Just a boring one.
Jun 23, 2012
The Interrupters8
Jun 23, 2012
This is a documentary, so It will get boring. It is not made to entertain you, but instead provide a insightful look at the jobs of good people saving lives. The filming crew keeps the camera rolling on " the interrupters" daily lives in Chicago, and show a different city than the one we want to see. This is a good film, much so that it is only from a handful of documentaries I've seen.
Jun 22, 2012
Project X6
Jun 22, 2012
Looking back at this film, it would have made a better half-hour short. As you would think, most of the movie takes place during the party. Making you feel like a loser just sitting there watching average actors jumping around and doing drugs. Nonetheless, the entertainment is there and rapped with a nice dose of laughter.

Everything Must Go6
Jun 22, 2012
At a certain point, I realized this movie was not going to get any better, so I stopped watching it. I can still I it wasn't bad, just boring. It's basically based on a drunk man having a yard sale for over a week.
Jun 22, 2012
Moneyball7
Jun 22, 2012
I was somewhat bored during this film, maybe it was because I don't like baseball and its string-pullers. However, I still enjoyed everything this well written movie offered. And Pitt's acting is great.
Jun 21, 2012
Grindhouse8
Jun 21, 2012
This film proves Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez are in need of a therapist , which one should realize means nothing bad about this exploitation film jewel. Both movie in this feature are worth watching if you like violence and girls.
Jun 21, 2012
The Lost Boys8
Jun 21, 2012
This is the best vampire movie I've ever seen. It's an 80's movie with teenagers as protagonists who rid "Santa Carla" of its vampire. This film is legendary, just ignore the existence of it's sequels, as they are nothing good compared to this.
Jun 20, 2012
Chronicle7
Jun 20, 2012
An entertaining film with good action and a bit of drama. Chronicle provides a twist on typical superpower films, where the powers are used to stop a villain. The cast and their performances are the icing on the cake to an original plot.
Jun 20, 2012
Limitless8
Jun 20, 2012
This movie's good stuff. Everything you would want from a Saturday-night rental. Provides thrills and occasionally, good action. The plot's original and the film has a more than average cast, shout out to De Niro.
Jun 20, 2012
The Lincoln Lawyer8
Jun 20, 2012
The Lincoln Lawyer provides good thrills with generally good acting and in my opinion, a great plot. The film does however suffer from of Hollywood cliches.
Jun 20, 2012
Donnie Darko9
Jun 20, 2012
Donnie Darko Is not a straight forward film, it is very complex, which makes it hard to stay focused as it may get boring. It is a smart and interesting and not to mention trippy.
Jun 10, 2012
Fright Night5
Jun 10, 2012
Fright Night is not very good. The acting is average with actors whom, other than Farrell, I've never heard of. I had no idea this was a comedy until I read about it, I only laughed once throughout the whole movie. It also barley has any "fright".
Jun 7, 2012
The Machinist8
Jun 7, 2012
Christian Bale seems to be the reason for most The Machinist hype, and their's a good reason for that. Bale's portrayal of , insomnious, Trevor Reznik is something he really devoted to doing. Still with Bale's great acting, as well as the supporting cast's, are not the delivering factor. The cake goes to Scott Kosar for this amazing script. The Machinist delivers all the suspense and thrills a great movie in this genre need.
Jun 7, 2012
Pulp Fiction9
Jun 7, 2012
Pulp Fiction may be Tarantino's best film ever. From the opening scene to the very end, there is not a single dull moment. There is always someone getting shot at , someone doing drugs or someone getting cussed at the best possible **** starring actors do an excellent job, Which is't a surprise. The script is typical in Tarantino's style.Something to note is that the acts aren't in chronological order, but will still make sense
Jun 7, 2012
Shutter Island9
Jun 7, 2012
If thrillers are your thing ,watching this is logical. Martin Scorsese directed this so this should be on your watch list anyway. DiCaprio plays U.S. Marshal Edward Daniels, and his performance delivers. The supporting cast also does a great job. The script play is **** is a bit boring the first 40 minutes, but it gets really good.
Jun 7, 2012
Taxi Driver9
Jun 7, 2012
Taxi Driver has the best scrip I have ever seen be directed in **** Niro portrays a taxi driver who's out to clean the dirty streets of New York. It is very well directed , I mean c'mon it was done freaking Scorsese. The supporting actors do an amazing job especially young Jodie Foster who plays a 12-year-old prostitute.
Jun 6, 2012
There Will Be Blood9
Jun 6, 2012
I am probably applauding this film more than it deserves, but this is my type of movie. Paul T. Anderson's direction of the film is well done which should not be a surprise considering he has been called "one of American film's modern masters". The style of atmosphere Robert Elswit creates is perfect for the films setting. The script is very good. And the acting is more or so average. Daniel D. Lewis does however, a job of portraying mineral prospector Daniel Plainview, still a bigger expectation from him is held after watching Gangs of New York. Watching Daniel's relationship with his boy, especially towards the end, really makes the film's audience care for the characters.
Jun 6, 2012
The Professional9
Jun 6, 2012
I loved this movie before I even watched it. Leon is French-produced, meaning you wont see any of Hollywood's cliches. Leon's not some undefeatable 6th sensed assassin .Instead he is human with emotions who cares for the world he lives in, he just has an immoral "profession". You can understand his decisions and begin to care for him and the girl. I even started caring for the plant Leon keeps. His relationship with the girl also really grows on you.
Jun 6, 2012
The Avengers8
Jun 6, 2012
Iron Man changed my expectations about how good superhero movies can be, still, I wasn't planning on watching this. However, with people making so much hype about I headed to the theater. The Avengers strongest element is it's action, all the battle scenes are great and are well paced. And the SPFX are spectacular to watch. As for the directing, you wont be disappointed as long as your not a cinephile. The cast performance are nothing special, I much rather see Mark Ruffalo in Shutter Island.
Feb 24, 2012
Rise of the Planet of the Apes8
Feb 24, 2012
Really good reboot to the **** movie was a bit slow, the action doesn't pick up until the last half hour. the acting is good and the special effects and cgi make everything realistic.
Feb 24, 2012
The Godfather9
Feb 24, 2012
Whenever I asked if this was a good film or not, I either heard it was extremely good or "I haven't seen it but yeah, it's good'. And when I finally found the time to sit through it, I couldn't believe what I had been missing. This is the greatest crime film I've have ever seen. Everything from the directing and acting to the soundtrack and, even thought its over two hours, the pacing.
Feb 5, 2012
The Devil's Double8
Feb 5, 2012
If you're a guy, this is a movie you should watch. The story's great, which kind **** cause it's based on a true story. Dominic Cooper does a great job portraying both of the characters. And although it's no Scarface, its just as violent and disturbing.
Feb 5, 2012
Drive9
Feb 5, 2012
This movie is insanely good. The story's good, the acting is good and the directing is **** soundtrack alone is amazing. There is a couple of gory scenes, which in my book , make the film better. And for a film that is based around driving, it has great driving scenes.Drive is definitely a movie to watch.
Feb 3, 2012
Contagion6
Feb 3, 2012
Good movie if you don't mind it's slow pace and lack of action. It's a bit long and will think its ending before it actually ****'s also confusing. Just be glad it makes sense most of the time.
