Warcraft III: Reforged0

Blizzard, you gave me so many satisfactions in my youth, fighting undead and demons in Diablo 2, orcs in Tides of Darkness, and zerglings in Starcraft.. I stayed awhile and proudly listened a glorious soundtrack driving me against evil.. So I write this with sadness and regret : it's over. Evil finally corrupted your soul, and now you are no more a soul in search of answers, but in search of money.. and there's no trace of what you were before. The demon has taken over. Now I look at you, and I see an infested terran center. Maybe you gazed into the Abyss for too long.

Interesting mix between stealth and open world game located in a captivating setting. As of today, there are too many bugs that make the gameplay a chore, and a documentation that is quite lacking. I suggest that you wait some patches before buying.

Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun8
Dec 6, 2016
Good game, if you like the genre and have lots of patience. Technically speaking, graphics and sound are okay. The protagonists are quite charming, and the difficulty is not too hard (but hard enough to be sure you will quickload here and there). Big maps grant enough choice, even if in some points I would have appreciated more alternatives. There are a couple of things I didn't like. Story is nothing to write home about, but it really doesn't matter. Also, It's a pity there are no interiors like in Commandos2. Finally, Shadow Mode is functional, but I feel it's a bit simplified and could have been worked better. To sum it up, a valid game. Feel free to add +1 to my score if you are a Commandos/Desperado aficionado.

XCOM 23
Feb 6, 2016
Things you could do in the original XCOM (1994) and you can't do anymore: 1. Air combat, because now there is only one vehicle disposable. 2. Inventory management, because now your soldier can' Exchange or drop objects anymore. 3. Shoot more than 4 shots without going ot of ammo, because...? 4. Have several bases around the world, because aliens have conquered Earth and...? and they are so many there is no way to put up a base even in Antarctica or Gobi desert? 5. Have a fighting team of more than 6 elements, because now you are a guerrilla leader, and...? 6. Research more projects simultaneously, because you had several base with several laboratories and several teams, like it should logically be, and now your scientists can only work on one project at time, because...? 7. Take enemies by surprise, catching them from behind, and now you can do it, but only once during concealment phase, then surprise a hidden enemy is no more possible, because when discovered, enemies automatically see you and go in cover mode. 8. Plan you tactical battles carefully, using overwatch and advancing slowly to minimize risks, like every good soldier should do, and now it's too often not possible because you are on a turn limit that forces you to dash under enemy fire, because urgency really makes a game more tactical, or so the experts say. 9. Have tanks fight alongisde human soldiers, using them as disposable scouts, mobile covers and heavy artillery, and now....? 10. Have a balance in enemies progress, and now you have aliens who can revive their comrades and mind trick your soldiers in 2nd-3rd mission, because the world out there is cruel, and kids must learn frustration and videogames are the best Teachers. And I'm not even going to list all the bugs and glitches. Others have done it well enough. And now you know.

You can play both a dvd movie and a videogame. The difference lies in the verb "play". When you play a videogame, it has active meaning: playing influences the story and the outcome of the game. When you play a dvd movie, it has passive meaning: you watch the movie, and the interaction is minimal and restricted to few controls (pause, fast forward, ecc) which don't influence the story. By definition, this is not a videogame. The score is an average between the story quality and the technical mediocrity.

Fallout 44

I sneaked into the bandits house, wielding my shotgun, moving in the dark and silently fighting my first enemy, the atrocious FOV, when a second adversary, the much maligned Mouse Acceleration, stabbed me in the back. While I was struggling with these menaces, a raider appeared in front of me, but luckily he couldn't hite me with his spiked bat, because he couldn't walk past the open door between us. I pointed my gun to blow his dumb AI head, and a moment later I was looking at my desktop, defeated by the most dangerous nightmare of the wasteland: the Crash to Desktop. -a minute of play extract from my actual Fallout 4 experience, hence my vote, until a patch makes remedy of this shame.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt9

A defined step-up from the second chapter, especially combat mechanics-wise, and in the story ending quality. The mature dark aspects of the saga return here at their best. Graphics aren't exactly what CDProject promised to deliver, and there are some visual fx downgrades, but it's still vastly superior than any other RPG in recent times. Maybe it's not one of the best games ever made, as someone dramatically declared, but it's easily the best of the Witcher trio graphically, technically and storytelling. Critics of Assassin of Kings have been listened carefully, and I finally can say we have a high quality Witcher game. And I like Geralt with a beard!

Much worse than the review make it be. I expected playing some crap and quitting after 15min based on reviews, and I ended up uninstalling it and having a laugh doing so. Story is uninteresting, there are more dead moments than dead enemies, it always keep going south and adding new useless boring stuff and **** up events. Gameplay is brain dead. Level design are **** Not worth a 0, but I'm balancing for that alone foster child.

This hot potato is hard to swallow, Vargas, but we'll do our best. I got my rifle, my badge and 3 friends to count on, out there in the wastelands. I'm not expecting kindness or benevolence, I'm already feeling the sun burning my eyes, the radiation burning my skin and the rusted ruins of the world it was burning my heart. I know there will be blood and dust on my path, and much, much pain, inside and outside me. I know I can take it, because you already made it. You may be older and I may be older too, but it's never to late to answer to those who scream for a better world.

I can tell you one thing for sure: this game won't give any pleasures. You will read stories of disappointment, of abysmal conversion, of horrendous key-binding, of near-to-non-existent controls.... Well, it's all true. Most players will throw away their keyboards (keyboards!) with rage, others will cry for a refund, and others again will refuse to touch it till the patching. They will be all right. Very very few players like pain and anguish while playing. If you are, like me, one of them, buy this game, play it til you master it. And curse bad porting and bad controls, and bad devs who hate you. And suffer in pain. And die.

I laugh every time some excited moron takes it personally and pukes things like "It's a mess! Who says it's a great game is a liar!!" or to the other end of the spectrum "don't listen those haters, the game is a gem!", and the best are always those who haven't grasped the basics of democracy with pearls like "I was going to give it a 8, but I go with a 10 because the average is too low!". This bunch of various killjoys aside, the analysis is, as always, subjective. The plot is plain and uninteresting, the characters forgettable, the sound system is dumbed down and the levels are more linear and cutted by loading times. It's all true, and there are other little things like the rope arrow that you can shoot only in some spots, and the moss arrow that's gone for good, and the map is a mess, and away with all that. Yes, that's sadly real. BUT As a Thief series veteran, and Dark Mode contributer, my opinion is that this fourth installment is immersive like very few before it. The sensation of being a thief is here, crystal and sharp like a knife. The atmosphere, grim and gothic, the sense of persistent danger, it's all here. The slow progress from a dark corner to another, the silent approaching to the unwary guard, the hands taking what is yours to soon become mine, the thieving essence is still there, and better than before. I believe Thief is not a perfect game. It suffers of many weak points: plot and level design the ugliest of them. Still, if you can put them aside, you will spend 20 hours like a real thief.

I've seen games ridden with bugs you people wouldn't believe... Bikers vanishing under ghost roads in RIDE TO HELL RETRIBUTION, I watched brainless companions leave me die without batting an eyelide in STAR TREK: THE VIDEOGAME. All those moments will be lost compared to enemy spearmen refusing to attack me while I march on them at 10FPS in Rome 2, like tears in rain...

XCOM: Enemy Unknown7
Oct 9, 2012
Aaah, remakes. Many of those, lately. After the Jagged Alliance one (true mess), here it comes XCOM. Being an old XCOMJAFTSStorm veteran, i think i'm allowed to a little cynism. Well, let's recap the pros and cons, shall we? UP: -New Graphic Redone: after 18 years, it was expected. Visual glitches and cameras bugs? They were expected too. If we wait, the patch will come. -New Turn System: simpler, faster. Nothing to discuss about it. -RPG Characters Personalization: faces, voices, armour colors, perks, nicknames. Nice adds. -More Objectives: very limited(defuse bomb escort save), but always a plus. -PERMADEATH MODE: for serious gamers. DOWN -Inventory Is Gone: EH?! What the...? I cannot pick objects, i cannot use objects or weapons unless i equip them before mission? I cannot save my dying fella with a soldier who didn't start with a medi?Unrealistic at least. Dumbed down at worst. -Only One Base: HUH?!? No more transfers, no more base specializations, NO MORE BASE DEFENCE MISSIONS?? Guess the magichated words: dumbed down. -Enemies wait like morons until you see them: i didn't believe it, then i saw it. What the hell? You're the invaders, brainless idiots, just invade! You expect me to blast you, and only then you make your whole turn?! -DOOM3 Greatest Hits: exception to last rule, sometimes they appear FROM NOTHING, like teleported, in your line of sight. Alien Powers? Human Bugs? -All the World is country: you can kiss goodbye desert, arctic, farm scenarios. Gonna fight in Egypt? Pennsylvania market! Well, I was expecting way less from the guys who ruined the civ series with the V chapter. The game is fun, dynamic, entralling. But dumbed down. Don't compare to the original, and you've a good game. You DO compare, and you've some irrealistic, simplified remake that's better than others(after-series, extraterrestrials, ecc). I am an old player, the original was my life, yet I mantain an open mind. But I'm gonna beddy-bye with two night demons in my ears: Dumbed and Down.

I'm severely disappointed by the horrible DRM, and the laughable disorganization of Blizzard servers. This game should've wait at least a month before seeing the light of day. Blizzard should have expected this situation: i suspect they olny care about money, not customers. The game itself, is nothing more than Diablo2 with today tecnology. I miss the attribute points, the scrolls of identification, i feel the series ha completely departed from rpg elements, and it's now pure mindless moronic hack n'slash. Do ****: do not buy a clone, and a mediocre one.
