Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak10
Nov 6, 2022
Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak has a much better end game than World's Iceborne. It also has superior armor and weapon aesthetics and a better roster of monsters, plus the skill and arts added offer a lot more depth to weapons and playstyles than the clutchclaw ever did. Easily worth it for the amount of customization and replayability being offered.

The Last of Us Part II2
Jun 23, 2020
I don't think the original TLOU is the exalted masterpiece many claim it to be. While the visuals were of high fidelity and looked great, for a PS3 game, and the characters of Joel and Ellie and their journey through the post-apocalyptic world is the game's strong point, I cannot give any praise to nearly everything else. I found the gun-play, stealth, crafting, and set piece interactions to be very boilerplate and just disengaging on the whole. The reason I bring this up is because TLOU Part II is, in nearly every aspect, worse than its predecessor. The main protagonists and general characters of the game's story are uninteresting and inferior to those of the original. The narrative is a mess with some segments feeling detached and unnecessary while the moral absolutism of characters' motivations and actions are simply at odds with the themes of revenge the game wishes to paint in shades of grey. The gameplay is largely the same affair from the original with minor superfluous enhancements and less brain-dead "puzzles." I went in not expecting much, or about something on par with the original, but somehow came away with a newfound sense of disgust and disappointment. Thankfully, I got a full refund at my local game shop as the clerk was sympathetic to my and others' plight.

Blaster Master Zero9

A classic is born anew. While I enjoyed the original Blaster Master, this reimagining brings a whole lot more to the table along with tons of extras and content that makes replaying the game a desirable endeavor.

I wish I could give this a negative score as it has retroactively ruined one of their best games and communities in one fell swoop. Congrats Blizzard you are now more hated than Bethesda and EA. You earned it though.

Indivisible2
Nov 25, 2019
I got Indivisible because Valkyrie Profile is one of my all time favorite RPGs. I played the first 5 hours and kept waiting for equipment and skills to get enabled. Then I realized they weren't coming and figured out that level up do literally nothing. All motivation to play ended at that point. There's no way to be creative with your characters, and there's no sense of progression. I could tolerate it if the stories and characters made up for it, but it just doesn't. Most of Valkyrie Profile's characters were expendable, but at least they all had a story. The party members of Indivisible are "you crossed paths with this person and now they're in your party. You will never see them speak again beyond their three lines of dialogue when you found them." Indivisible is a poorly thought out hybridization of genres that fails to make its individual elements properly mesh. There is also hardly anything of great substance in the gameplay, story, or even characters that engages the player. If I want combo play, I have an assortment of fighting games. If I was looking for a good platformer/Metroid styled game, I have other Indies like Hollow Knight and Bloodstained. If I want a RPG, I have myriad other options that all feature proper characterization, customization, impactful decision making, and much better narratives. For a studio that seemingly drew inspiration from Valkyrie Profile, Lab Zero does very little to implement and learn from its design and/or failed to realize what makes it so endearing and enduring. In short, save your money; this game is a mess.

Under Night In-Birth Exe:Late[st]10

One of best fighters I've played in the past 10 years. French Bread really knocked it out of the park with this one. The game has great system mechanics, a well rounded and fun to play roster, amazing music and visual aesthetic, and one of the best tutorial systems ever created for fighting games. Definitely a worthy follow up to Melty Blood.

Samurai Shodown10
Jun 26, 2019
SNK successfully breathes life back into one of their most beloved fighting game series. The game looks gorgeous, plays just like the classic SamShow you know and love, and serves as a perfect entry point for those looking to get into fighters with its focus on neutral play, lack of complex combos, and easy to use reversal mechanics.

Fallout 760
Nov 19, 2018
This is a watered down FPS with a RPG facade that makes a pitiful attempt at engaging the player with some of the worst loot, crafting, and questing systems out there all while using multiplayer as an excuse to ratchet up the grind and abandon any semblance of decent game design. I cannot believe I am saying this, but this game is actually soulless.

While I did have some fun with the handheld games, they never really captured the spirit of the original. However, VC4 truly does feel like the proper sequel to the original that I've been wanting for all these years.

Wasteland 2 has that classic Black Isle feel. If you loved the CRPGs of the 90s and like post-apocalyptic setting, then you will absolutely love this game.

A solid RPG and a proper entry in the series that is more in line with the first two titles. If you enjoy immersing yourself in a world for hours on end then this is the game for you.

Gone Home2
Aug 21, 2013
A “video game” about walking around an abandoned house, reading letters and whatnot, while a narration explains everything to you, doesn't sound all that remarkable. The plot seems to be getting a lot of praise, but I found it utterly vapid and a complete waste when compared to the game's atmosphere. It astounds me as to how this “game” is receiving perfect scores. I think a lot of the approbation being dumped on Gone Home is merely because of the homosexual subject matter.
