Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak

Honestly, I had high expectations for the base game Rise. After I beat it really quickly, I felt unmotivated to do anything else. It still didn't scratch that itch that World gave, let alone Iceborne. However, just like Iceborne, Sunbreak expanded in a better way. The combat is more versatile now with the addition of switch skills. It's basically switching your weapon's playstyle with more silk skills and/or regular moveset. It's made Switch Axe a blast to play. People need to remember that even with Iceborne, the game got better overtime with more features like the Guiding Lands, Safijiva, or Fatalis. As it is now, you can get an enjoyable several dozen hours or so of monster hunting entertainment before the next update because let's face it there are many good games to play right now.

Does extremely hard turning make a realistic game? I've never driven 130 mph, but I do know that I would die if I crashed into a wall, but instead it feels like bumper cars. The graphics are pretty, to say the least.

Best feeling of a 2D ninja. Acrobatics, Puzzles, Exploration, Arsenal, Action, Attitude. Best quote, "I will not serve you or any other dead man." For a ninja though, he doesn't do a lot of sneaking, but that's probably to be expected in the most heavenly armed fortress.

It really brings out the competitive spirit. If you don't get a goal right, it makes you try harder. When you see people getting goals while flying, it makes you want to soar too. If you're tired of the yearly FIFA, this will rejuvenate your soccer interest.

It has a cool art style, there is strategy, there's a story. it's more tactical than the over the top Plants vs Zombies. My only complaints are that it's incredibly slow. Matches might take up to 10-20 minutes, unless you can somehow overpower your opponent, but that's unlikely because you don't start strong. I did a few PvP matches. The first few ended up draws because we couldn't kill each other in time. The next couple I lost because I decided to do something different and rush in. It was a mistake. To win, this game is all about patience and the slow & steady.

Surprisingly deep RPG from the creators of Final Fantasy. But the addicting part is collecting your own characters. The artwork is really detailed and some weird. It's free. The only micro transaction is buying energy which can be used to gamble for more characters, restore stamina, or if your party dies. It's not necessary to beat the game and its story.

There is so much to do, you won't know where to start. So many characters, you won't know who to play. It's the ultimate Nintendo game every fan should have. Gameplay has been balanced. No more random tripping, edge hogging, or unnatural floating. Don't believe people when they say this is just a taste of the Wii U; The 3DS is a complete package. Unlike the the Wii U version, you can listen to tunes on sleep mode, play mini games with strangers you meet, and Smash Run (i.e. A randomized side scroller similar to Melee's adventure mode.)

No Heroes Allowed: No Puzzles Either!

A very addictive puzzler, NHA: No Puzzles Either eats up a lot of time. Just playing an hour felt like 10 minutes. There is a multiplayer section, but as there is no one to test it with, I'll keep this to a single player experience. The gameplay of stringing 3 monster pieces together and then using the completed monster to defeat a hero offers a challenge to which only good combos will succeed. It also depends on the RPG element of the system. Monsters can have levels, attack strengths, and some special powers that can make or break how quickly a level can be completed. So monster management is important. After defeating heroes, they may often get captured. The player can then use them for monster ingredients or enslave them into mining for ingredients and new monsters. Then the items are picked up using the touch screen. Different heroes will have different mining strengths, micro managing this is important The third feature is monster management. As I've said monsters have levels and strengths, and the player increases the levels using ingredients. Once at the max level, the monsters are ready to evolve into a stronger form. It all goes hand in hand. Hard levels= strong heroes captured = strong monsters produced= harder levels finished faster. If you are a trophy hunter or collector, then the last thing to do is to capture every hero and evolve every monster. But that would mean tediously replaying every level over and over, which isn't so bad because your strong monsters would finish levels in no time. It's not required though. Unfortunately, that is all the modes the single player experience offers. Dungeon puzzles, Touch screen mining/hero management, and monster management. But it works together well enough to forget about anything else. I just wish there was a soundtrack mode to listen to though. The games script is amusingly gloomy, what with the player being the God of Destruction. If you like games like Bejeweled or such and want to take it a step further, then the whole game pack (10$) is seriously worth considering.

There is only two ways to obtain powerful weapons and loot: Find it yourself or have it given to you by a co-op player. I can't stress how refreshing it feels to show off your exclusive gear. It delivers a personal customization that adapts with your own style of play. In addition to customization, you may now change how your character looks, transmogrifying normal equipment to visually look like legendaries. The crusader is a unique addition to the Diablo roster. The crusader has more or less the same abilities as D2's Paladin, such as Blessed Hammer, Charge, Vigor, etc. The class uses a class-specific mace and a large crusader shield, but what really separates this class from the rest is the ability to wield 2H weapons and shields simultaneously, allowing the best combination of Offense and Defense. Chapter 5 offers a new villain, of course. I'd rather not spoil it, but the end ties the story up and offers more backstory to the class characters, followers, and supporting cast. The level raise to 70 has it's advantages. Previous classes each get 1 new powerful skill (Pirahnas), 1 additional passive slot, and 3 passive skills. The 1 additional passive slot itself gives even more build customization and certainly makes your character stronger or tougher. The new style of play is called Adventure Mode. There are no cutscenes, dialogue, and allows jumping to any waypoint of any chapter in no specific order. Bonus awards are given for completing random quests (called bounties) like slay this monster or boss or cleanse this treasure chest of evil. After gaining rift stones from bounties, you can access the rift door, which is filled with hordes of monsters, elites, and champions and one random boss. This mode is great for anyone wanting never ending destruction. I've only talked about the new big stuff this expansion is offering. The storyline of acts 1-4 didn't change, so I don't recommend expecting anything you haven't seen before from those acts, despite the subtle change like Diablo now 100% dropping a legendary every time the game is completed. And I can't determine how long I can play Diablo 3 since I'm devoting time to Dark Souls II and life, but I'm enjoying my sessions with Reaper of Souls.

The game is hard, no lie. It's not the kind of game where you enter a room full of zombies and blast them away first try. Dark Souls 2 teaches critical thinking: When to attack, which weapon is most suited, how to use your stamina efficiently. There's plenty of roleplaying. As soon as you find a weapon or spell, you'll want to use it immediately. Go dual swords, become grim reaper like, whip people into submission, the choices are unlimited. This is one of those games that in order to enjoy fully, you have to walk in blindfolded with no guide or wiki. Every secret passage discovered and enemy you kill gives self-satisfying confidence and encourages you to believe "I carve my own destiny!"

I own probably half of this game's cast in my PS3 collection, but that doesn't that make this game fun to play. Once you get knocked around, you can get beat up without recovering; very different from how Brawl allows characters to roll back when they hit floor. Every character has 30 moves, but the only one you'll feel like using is the extreme long range so you can hard knockdown and beat up the other guy when they can't move. Matches of camping and over-powered fighters ruin the balance of this game. Once you get knocked down, the other players will already have an advantage over you. It's a pain in the ****.

If there is one thing that Diablo 3 can be compared to D2, it's that there is no player versus player. For me, a large amount of time was focused on PvP in D2. As I know there will be PvP in a future update, lack of this installment right limits the replay value of Diablo 3 right now. That said, all the character classes are different once you are able to use their max potential of skills. There is the sadistic barbarian there tears foes apart 1on1 or in the center of crowds. The Demon Hunter is an assassin that deals high criticals while lurking in the shadows. The Wizard uses arcane magic to freeze, incinerate, or stun the forces of evil. The Witch Doctor raises the dead (dogs, bears, frogs, zombies) to provide defense and offense. And the Monk focuses on speed and dexterity, making them a very hard target to kill in close combat. The Boss fights provide a good challenge that requires thinking where the bosses next move will be and watching what traps are on the floor. It can be difficult, but it's not impossible to beat them perfectly With an already great co-op experience, the only thing left is to have Blizzard let us kill each other with our favorite characters and best gear!
