XO, Kitty

Though multiple connections to the To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before Franchise still exist, the show has grown into its own identity. Its final episode wraps up many of the season’s primary stories, but leaves several key emotional and plot threads worth exploring should Netflix decide to greenlight a third season.

While there seems to be a lot of story to sort through in Season 2, the reason why XO, Kitty continues to work is because of Cathcart’s exuberant charm.

Cathcart is a more mature Kitty than we’ve seen previously. Still, she manages to weave in the spunky naiveté and inquisitiveness that was so endearing about the character in her pre-teen years. Kitty’s determination and earnestness ground the series when things feel more than a bit chaotic.

Thanks to its brisk pace, likable characters, and consistently propulsive plot (another drama really is always just around the corner), I don’t think anyone would mind coming back for another semester.

While the season has some moments that feel more orchestrated than others and, at times, struggles with the way it chooses to tell its story, XO, Kitty season 3 is still a fun ride.

The ingredients are there, but the writing is not. And when the finale sets up a potentially more interesting future, it’s hard not to roll your eyes.

Cathcart was so charming in the To All the Boys trilogy that it's a shame both her and her character's potential was wasted on a mess like XO, Kitty, with its poorly conceived premise, contrived situations played for laughs, and lack of chemistry.

I liked xo kitty very much because she went to collge to remember about her mother. She ends up going to Korea. I recommend to teenagers. Dafne Christine
