The first season was pretty great but it has been on a slow decline since.I would have loved tosee Vice Principles go 4 season and The Righteous Gemstones wrap things us after season 2. Season 4 is kind of a **** real story beats, at least any that are interesting. Kelvin Gemstone character is obnoxious. This character suffers from the same issue as the Mac character in Always Sunny....coming out as gay really doesnt work well. They ramp up the gay stereotypes to 11 just for what **** sure. The best character Baby Bill, was absolutely hilarious in the beginning, but became an over the top annoyance much like Stifler in AmericanPie.

Feel good, hilarious, curious, chaotic, character development!!! Incredible! Love love!

Excellent absurdist comedy from Danny McBride about a televangelist family of a mega-church who are mired in greed and immaturity ... and also, the Lord. This all-star cast also features Adam Devine, Edie Patterson, John Goodman, and Walton Goggins, to name a few. When the family isn't busy bickering like a bunch of eight year olds, they're owning their separate lives and trying to find a way to secure their position as the next man-in-charge of the church. It's a hysterical look at the functioning of mega-churches and the people who run them. A definite must-watch full of comedy.

The Righteous Gemstones is a hilarious parody of corrupt megachurches. The megachurch scam is one of the oldest in the US and is satirized in both a chastising and humanizing way in this show. The action is fun, the parody is spot on and the jokes land in many different ways. The show can be extremely cerebral and poignant at times, but then hit you with extremely funny monologues and callouts directed at the church. It dips into absurdity at times, but always with purpose and with delightful execution. The main characters and supporting characters are all cast perfectly and John Goodman really gets to show off quite a lot. If you're formerly religious and looking for somecatharsisor still religious but dislike the corruptionandpoliticization of the church, you'll love this show. Even if you're just a fan of great comedy, this show is at least deserving of a watch.

The show is far too sympathetic of these scumbags. They are portrayed as kind and heartfelt. Sure they are selfish and stupid, but they are also lovable in a way that is off putting and starts to feel soap operatic. Also, more jokes beside men screaming and cussing might be interesting....? But that's kinda all the creators are interested in. The whole thing falls apart midway through the first season. This is classic dude bro nonsense for fairly typical Americans. In all it's efforts to be raw, or ****'s pretty much mainstream blandness. The over praise is just due to it's lazy appeal. This show will vanish as soon as it's seen. It is vapid.

Martin A. - Praise! Praise! No, I'm not religious but this show adds a spotlight into real welfare families. The way their religion is portrayed is in an honest light which took guts and amazingly works well. What I hated, I don't think these group of idiots could have gotten away with anything. I also don't see how none of their actions ever leaked. Dumb luck seems to be the order of the day. What I loved. The characters all well rounded and the jokes are hilariously self aware. Just sit back and let your self get taken on a ride of the Righteous Gemstone family day. This show is a comedy at heart, if you love to laugh, give this show a try. I recommend to see it free till the end before owning it. 7 out of 10.

So so so so so bad. Oh look, kinda funny clothes. Oh look, kinda funny haircuts. Oh look a gay-subtext group without the courage to actually say anything truthful or insightful about it. Not a single laugh in the first three episodes. Smug, "look-at-how outrageous we are" insider crap that's hysterical to the writers of the show. They can't believe how funny they are. Only Danny McBride couldn't make a hyena laugh. I swear he has pictures of HBO's wife. How the hell does he keep getting work? I watch this with spite in my heart and I love/hate every minute of it. Never again! More please! Hate you, McBride.

They forgot to write jokes. Most of the time is spent reigning in the scope of the characters, their massive houses, and the stadium-sized mission of their work. Precious little time is left over for a **** joke here and there, the occasional personality quirk. I think writing a show with this sized universe makes a writer nervous that if they focus on a scene that they'd be neglecting something else. With so much to space to handle, precious detail of what makes a show good is lost.

Not much to say, except Danny McBride is the King of Comedy. It's a righteous Comedy about a family who in the name of Jesus and God collect money and use it for their own **** desires. You won't get bored at any time

A classic McBride show, with it's recognizable humor and great cast chemistry. It turns out an evangelical church-cult family is great topic for comedy

As a massive fan of both Danny McBride & Jody Hill, I went into this show with high hopes, and I'm happy to say it has not let me down yet! This time around, the drama & world-building truly take center stage, letting the comedy fill in all the blanks. If you've enjoyed any of their past projects, this one will no doubt fill your heart with joy as you learn more about these wonderfully crafted characters. I'm absolutely dying to see the rest of the season, and so happy to say that Season 2 is right around the corner!

Danny McBride at his comedic best, John Goodman is not mailing in his performance either— very clever writing thus far, and hopefully it can continue.
