Sometimes the comedy of The Pentaverate lives up to those ambitious visuals, often with structural or meta jokes, like the silly Irons intros, or a running gag that is, hands down, the finest comedy work of Maria Menounos’ career. ... The Pentaverate is more wistful than scatalogical when it comes to its satire, though.

It is a sweet, silly, charmingly harmless thing – and funny, if you like that sort of thing, or if you are scrabbling around for any succour you can find. You could do better; you could do worse.

Full of deep thought and intelligent references, a showcase of Myer's character actor ability. A sublime satire of secret societies and conspiracies that would make Robert Anton Wilson smile in his grave.

The Pentaverate could have been good, but that would have required restraint and revision, neither of which are on display in a show that is simultaneously overindulgent and toothless.

This is a Myers show, and it offers all the comfort and eye-rolling fatigue you’d expect from that, regardless of what year it is. That’s the resilience of juvenile humor: It never ages.

Every time “The Pentaverate” feels like it's developing a rhythm, it goes on a tangent to fill space—typically one that shows off the fact that this show is allowed to be very R-rated on Netflix. It’s like a stand-up set that has some good material surrounded by 45 minutes of filler.

A tiresome compendium of half-formed characters, weak social commentary and so many groan-worthy penis and poop jokes that it’s difficult to believe the headliner was once Hollywood’s top funnyman. ... You’ve got a slog that, no matter its brief runtime, wildly overstays its welcome.

The Pentaverate is a cavalcade of toilet humour that deserves nothing more than to be flushed away. Groovy, baby. Not.

If you are an Austin Powers fan or have a general appreciation of Mike Myers, then this show is a MUST.
I can see how it might not be for everyone, but if this type of humour resonates with you, then you will absolutely love it like I do.
I would recommend everyone watch atleast 1 episode to see if it's for you.

I **** understand why they would make a show this ****'s a load of crap and not the literal crap that Mike Myers prefers all over him during sex...(Sorry I am trying to keep within the confines of the shows humor for this review since it's all potty humor but yeah..this is it..this is the **** what I say in this review isn't funny then you will also hate this show)

This is the basic premise of this new series from Mike Meyers: For centuries 5 men (4 played by Mike Meyers) have been working to influence world events for the greater good. A Canadian journalist (also played by Meyers) finds himself trying to expose the truth. Meyers plays a total 7 characters. The first ep roars out of the gate with non-stop zany comedy. Unfortunately, the subsequent chapters become more about Meyers doing his characters, none of whom are especially amusing. There are plenty of smart cultural references, including some enjoyable guest stars like Rob Lowe, Maria Menounos and a heavily-disguised Jennifer Saunders (I only recognized her from her voice). Even the title sequence voiced by Jeremy Irons goes meta (and can't be skipped). There are funny moments and a few surprises sprinkled throughout, but Meyers' self-indulgence gets in the way of creating his next great franchise.(Six 30-minute episodes) [usr =2.5]

I was really enjoying this quirky show, especially with all of the amazing talent on display. Then once you are invested, some creepy lefty political commentary starts to worm its way through it. Some veiled impersonation of Alex Jones thrown in that wasn't really spot on at all but Alex can take a little ribbing I'm sure but it wasn't very accurate at all in lampooning him which means that gag fall flat for those who are even slightly familiar with him. Anyhoo I could let that slide for the sake of continuing with the narrative. Then there was the conspiracy theorist ,"friend" who has a striking resemblance to Bruno Gerussi from "The Beachcombers" who only serves to have some woke child character giving him a lesson about how wrong he is. I became frustrated when they introduce all of these fascinating characters, one in particular played by non other than the great Jennifer Saunders, only to kill them all of almost as quickly as they appear. Grrrrr!!!
There were some absolutely hilarious scenes that were trademark Mike Myers to enjoy throughout.
Now we get to the conclusion, which was the most pathetic and lazy ending that I have yet to have seen. It is even stupid, meaningless and self defeating. It was a lecture by yet the same ignorant woke extreme lefty CHILD that claimed to be the thread that wove it's way through the whole escapade. So no gratifying reveal after dutifully watching every episode.. nope, it was a BAIT AND SWITCH ENDING that left me screaming and swearing at the TV screen. I felt completely deceived, duped and insulted by the terrible ending. To Mike Myers credit, I suspect that some Netflix phoque took control of this project away from him. P.S.
I am sick and tired of Hollywoods persistant and dated imitation of who Canadians are and how we talk!!! It is not true! Just like all gays are NOT big superficial effeminate queens who are obsessed with Marylin Monroe and frigging show tunes!

Nope. Just nope. Look. I have always been a fan of Mike Myers but this show is so extremely bad in every way. I'm pretty sure it was only made because Myers couldn't get work anywhere else and somehow convinced people to pick up his series where he plays 90% of the characters... Badly.
