Strong performances and breakneck storytelling—there’s a twist like every five minutes—combine to make this an incredibly watchable thriller that should find an audience through buzz and word of mouth on the streaming service.

The performances are solid—Katharine O’Donnelly as the doctor and Alexandre Willaume as Johan, the man forced to investigate the crimes, are particularly good—the setting is both expansive and claustrophobic, and the isolation of the South Pole makes for a tremendous murder cauldron. It hits the right notes, at least broadly, and as far as watchability; I blazed through six episodes in three days.

Your enjoyment of the series will depend on if you want to go on that ride with Johan and his crew, as well as watch the flashbacks that Maggie reports to Johan. We thought the first episode moved along well; despite the fact that we didn’t really get to know the group of Winterers very well, aside from Arthur, Maggie and Annika.

Fun slasher/mystery thriller set on an Antarctic base. Some decent performances and a plot that keeps you invested from beginning to end.

This Spanish/English/Japanese show is actually the first of three seasons and the only one available in the US at this point. It's set on a research base in the South Pole, where a team is hunkered down for the dark winter months to work on an innovative solution for climate change. When the sun returns, so does a new crew, only to discover a decimated station with dead and missing members. Thus begins a complex mystery that's loaded with twists right up to the end. While things continually change, the dialogue scenes sometimes drag the pace, but ultimately this series makes for an intriguing whodunit.
