Davis and De Frond seem primed to move on to movies before too long – with The Curse, they continue to make fabulous TV comedy look easy.

Unlike the not-that-lovable rogues, the creators of The Curse clearly have a very good idea of what they’re about, and their plan is seamlessly executed to highly amusing effect. They deserve a reward for recovering such an impressive haul of comedy gold.

However compelling the heist itself is, first and foremost this is just a brilliantly funny comedy, and the laughs keep on coming at a very impressive rate throughout. ... This show is a real treat.

These people, Natasha told us, were “just existing, like bit parts in someone else’s story” and you got the impression that perhaps just around the corner, a slick Guy Ritchie-esque heist was underway. But in this story, it was all about the underdogs – and who doesn’t love an underdog?

It is all very silly in an old-fashioned, farcical way, but also funny with proper lol moments, as you'd expect from the team behind People Just Do Nothing.

The first series (just) edges it, but it’s still (pun intended) comedy gold.

The Curse is an old riff, being played lovingly and skillfully, over a record you’ve heard many times before.
