Outer Banks season four is charging ahead with a solid new adventure while leaning into the cast of characters these actors have honed and developed over the past four years. The chemistry between all of these personalities feels real, and there’s a creaky, spooky vibe surrounding their new mission that adds to the fun.

Outer Banks slots many of its characters into specific boxes and keeps them there. The series’ lack of nuance sometimes takes away from the emotional stakes, but it still does manage to craft a very exciting mystery-thriller with touches of teen romance. It’s a fun ride, but tighter character work would sell Outer Banks’ biggest moments much harder.

The relative success of this show, pitched in a way that staves off its more destructive impulses, is a testament to how well everyone involved manages to play along. Maybe it’s a show that’s still trying too hard at points, but it’s easy to imagine that fans of “Outer Banks” watching Season 2 will find much of what they’re searching for.

Outer Banks is still ridiculously addicting to watch — only soap operas can rival the twists on this show — but after so many years, the finale should have given viewers a bit more to chew on. .... With so little introspection, it doesn't feel like these characters have fundamentally changed in any way since we first met them.

What the final season offers is a hodgepodge of stories that don’t always connect, and ultimately have no narrative use except to keep the Pogues hustling to survive until they are finally allowed to do so.

If you are looking for a breezy teen-focused series that brings good drama, the compass does not point this way. If you want guns, FBI raids, endless screaming, kidnapping, psychopathic family members, and murderous intentions at every turn… well, you’re getting closer.

The third volume cranks that absurdity up to 11 but instead of leaning wholly into the pulpy fun, it does something worse: It starts taking its messy mythology seriously.

To be honest one of the best Netflix serial in my opinion. Very addictive serial.

I found it quite clinging yet annoying. Some of the decisions they make are excruciatingly annoying. You find treasure, you naturally bag it. when pope fell sick, they all naively went with him without leaving at least two of them to secure the Cross, to ensure what happened to the gold doesn't happen to the cross. Yet when they were stranded in the forest, two went to get a recue vehicle and some stayed with the van. You naturally stay with treasure, not abandon it after all the struggle experienced in finding it. That emptied reality from the story and left me angry. couldn't watch beyond 2/9. And how can you give a sick guy to drive you?

Frustrating in both good and very bad ways, the series doesn’t ever know what it’s supposed to be. Similarly to how a teenager doesn’t know what crowd to hangout in, this series can’t find its rhythm, jumping from mystery, to adventure, to teen romance all at nauseating speeds. But it does have its upsides. Namely, the portrayal of teen violence, familial abuse, drug use, and the sense of adventure (when it can get it right) makes this a mostly enjoyable ride. Unfortunately, it’s just very inconsistent.

Outer Banks begins as though it wants to be a teen drama about two opposing worlds. The Pogues, without money or privilege, face the Kooks, wealthy, protected and effectively owners of everything around them.There was a good show somewhere in that **** problem is that Outer Banks spends almost five seasons avoiding it.Instead of seriously developing its social conflict, the series rapidly becomes a bizarre mixture of The Goonies and Beverly Hills, 90210, replacing much of the charm of both with teenagers chasing each other, fighting, betraying each other, becoming friends again and discovering another treasure whenever the previous adventure begins to run out of energy.I hit **** hit **** we **** we look for **** there is another map.Again.Logic barely matters.Characters survive impossible situations, travel wherever the screenplay needs them to be, make decisions no remotely sensible person would make and repeatedly enter adventures whose main justification seems to be that more episodes still need to happen.What is frustrating is that the series always had something far more interesting **** Outer Banks setting is built around a striking economic divide. Poor teenagers work for wealthy families; property, influence, corruption and class contempt shape their lives, and the Pogues know exactly where society expects them to remain.That idea appears early.Then largely **** is almost absurd how long the show takes to remember that these characters are not simply unlucky adventurers. They are young people confronting others with enough money and influence to actually take things away from them.When that conflict finally becomes central, my reaction was simple: this is what the show should have been doing from the **** **** better than yet another legendary **** Goonies influence is obvious: maps, clues, hidden places, treasure and an inseparable group turning danger into adventure. But that film had the logic of a story about children. Outer Banks stretches the same behavior across years while its characters grow older without becoming much more mature.Then there is the 90210 side.Romance, jealousy, hostile families, terrible parents, relationships constantly changing and young characters behaving as though every emotional conflict is the end of the world.That combination could have been fun.Sometimes it is.Five seasons, however, are far too much for writing this **** acting rarely helps.There are scenes that produce genuine second-hand embarrassment. Chase Stokes often pushes for an intensity that never feels natural, and much of the cast appears to treat every confrontation as a competition in **** clear exception is Madelyn Cline.Sarah could easily have remained the familiar rich girl who falls for the boy from the other side of town. Cline gradually gives her far more presence, vulnerability and character than the writing consistently **** the seasons pass, she increasingly feels like an actress rather than a character in a teen **** **** Sarah improves with **** its credit, Outer Banks knows how to sell its world. Sun, beaches, boats, huge houses, attractive photography and music constantly trying to make every sequence feel important give the series considerably more style than substance.That explains some of its **** is easy to consume.Something is always **** problem is whether any of it makes sense.Usually, it does **** series could have used adventure to explore inequality, friendship and the desire to escape the place assigned to you by birth. It had the setting, characters and conflict.Instead, it chose treasure **** five **** by the time it finally remembers what its most interesting story was, it is far too late to erase the feeling that we have watched an enormous amount of attractive young people hitting each other over increasingly ridiculous things.Occasionally entertaining.Frequently **** far more childish than it seems to realize.

This show has some good compelling moments but it’s continuously squandered away by convenient incompetence. The occasional screw up is forgivable, it is a tv show they have to build plot, but the never ending trail of building up characters to be smart geniuses & haven’t them drop the ball every time is tiring. The main cast are the second most compelling part of the show. I find myself rooting for the “bad guys” as they are for more interesting than the teens. Overrall I wouldn’t recommend this show, as when you get interested it will just let you down in the end
