The cast is good, the fight scenes prolific, the overall lifting not heavy. Grailies among you could do worse. With lots of blood, some hooey, and even some history, this appears to be a decent--and watchable--period drama.

Ambitious in its scale, but hamstrung by its conventions, Knightfall often confuses violence and brutality for visceral authenticity.

great story line and photography. Can't see what's coming. Series should continue for years.

Just finished watching the last 2 episodes of s1... I am all torn up and having a whole range of emotions. I tend to get right inside the characters of shows I watch, and I enjoy the ride and appreciate the distraction from my personal problems. I looked forward to this show more than anything else on tv, and I really loved several of the characters! The period shows are my absolute favourite of any genre and I soak them up. I haven’t watched Vikings yet, it looks more violent than I care for. I would love Knightfall to be renewed for another season. I am inspired to follow up and read some history about this period, having always been a fan of anything with swords, Europe, the crusades, the church, royal courts, etc. I don’t see why anyone would bother to write a poor review of Knightfall. It’s my kind of show!

Knightfall takes a fascinating historical moment and uses it as an excuse to channel a half-dozen fictionalized histories and renders something specific relatively generic.

Knightfall is a rather plodding and predictable game of medieval thrones. [27 Nov - 10 Dec 2017, p.9]

Knightfall’s muddied, dull clash of warring religious nonentities never commits to any aspect of its tale, which renders this newest period piece as dramatically inert as it is historically valueless.

Knightfall is deadly serious and full of violent encounters. It also hinges on a bevy of plot twists, some of which are very fun. But it’s also a weakness, as the show focuses almost entirely on its sprawling plot rather than character development. Consequently, the early episodes lag until enough plot points have gone by that the intrigue starts to really payoff, yet it’s hard to really connect with any of the characters (Except maybe Joan, who Ross gives a great deal of depth to as the episodes wear on).

In piecing together the why and how of the Templars’ decline showrunner Dominic Minghella and his writing team lazily paste together a collage of conceits familiar to any sword and/or sorcery fan--and many of those films did a better job at selling such a story.

Less than enamoured with the season premiere. Then episodes 2 and 3 confirmed my initial disappointment. Basically the story line hovers on day time soap opera, and not the realistic freedom that the History Channel gives you. I knew by the first two episodes of Vikings and Game Of Throne that they would be "keepers". In KNIGHTFALL , for instance, would any woman of that time period, ever deny the King of France ? I think not. Or would the Queen of France at that time period, ever have the freedom of roaming amoung peasants unnoticed ? No again! KNIGHTFALL lacks the realistic aura necessary to capture a trekkie following.

The show has great atmosphere and its good to look at but the characters and story were laughably bad. The trailer for season 2 leaves me hopeful for the future of the show but as of yet its not worth a watch.

This show started out alright, and the costume and setting were well executed... as soon as you get to know the characters though, it’s all downhill. They are terribly written and are all immediately shown to have forced character flaws and are completely un-likeable. I watched up to episode 2 and it lost me... disappointing after how good Vikings was and I was expecting a lot more historical context and perspective in terms of character motives and their relationships with their gods and each other. This was just a soap opera in a medieval setting, why should I care?
