Kings of South Beach

The dialog is crisply Pileggi, natch, but it's the flavor of South Beach, the most exciting American city in the 1990's (before the tourists realized that it was safe to go back in the water) that's captured precisely.

[It] telegraphs its most important punch too early on, and the rest is loud music, strobe lights, nose candy, and debauched dancing.

Unfortunately, this flick is far more interested in hot bods than an arresting story.

More attention [is] paid to recreating the glam disco milieu than to developing character.

Wahlberg is winningly sincere and yet sneaky.... But the lazy, simplistic script plays more like an episode of a second-rate crime series.

It all feels wan, tired and painfully predictable, with scant dimension for either Gedrick or Wahlberg to mine beyond the tough-guy sneers.

A giant bore.
