I was unsure if I would like this series going into the first episode, but it soon grew on me and I could not wait to binge watch its entirety. Like many BBC series, it's set in a small, conservative British town filled with flawed locals who respond in different ways to a cultural crisis - in this case the return of zombies to normal society after a new drug treatment. The show expertly leverages this premise to comment on everything from closeted romance to PTSD, racial prejudice, xenophobia, radicalism, authoritarianism, religious fervor, duplicitous bureaucrats, and so on. I thoroughly enjoyed the amount of ground they covered in only nine episodes.
