The haters are right — it’s nothing like traditional comedy. It’s art.

She delivers on everything she promises. Gadsby transitions from section to section of her 10th comedy tour with an ease that seems almost stream of consciousness. It’s evident that she’s meticulously worked out every word choice and carefully crafted unexpected callbacks of jokes from a half hour earlier, but she also remains flexible.

Holy moly this is an amazing piece of comedy/art/performance. It's super smart, super funny, and super poignant. It's rare for me to be legitimately laughing out loud by myself watching a comedy special, but Douglas had me in tears. The name Douglas has been forever changed!

Brilliant work! Although not as dark as Nanette, it still has an edge. Smart, funny and insightful. Will no doubt watch it again as it goes by fast and there is a lot to take in.

This new special is Gadsby's version of a crowd-pleaser, and it's consistently, even boastfully, hilarious. ... If Nanette demonstrated Gadsby's mastery of tone and command of the audience, Douglas is an even richer showcase for the comic's technical prowess.

Douglas has the thoughtful craft and righteous anti-patriarchy anger you'd expect from the person who made Nanette, but it has a lighter touch, a looser structure, and no moment like the climax of Nanette in which she doesn't tell jokes, only truth.

As Gadsby herself explains over the first 15 or so minutes of Douglas, though, don’t expect a rehash of her American breakthrough. Expect something that’s funnier than Nanette, still passionate but not quite as much so, and that lies undeniably in its shadow.

“Douglas” indicates the limits of her humor in covering over the limits of her project when it comes to redressing all the ills she wants to fix. The applause ringing through “Douglas” suggests that what one comes to Gadsby for is the humor, but what one leaves with, by the artist’s own design, is a sense of having done activism simply by agreeing with her.

If you’re in the mood for a lighthearted giggle, this is not the special for that and Netflix is packed with dozens of others that do provide this service. It didn’t make me laugh and I believe the intention was to do so, even more than her previous special.

This special very smartly responds to the criticism of her first American special while showing what makes her unique and stand out as her own unique voice and vision.

I was laughing harder the last time I was rushed to the ER for a kidney stone then during this... "Comedy" show. Its shows like these that make people think women arent funny.

Not a comedian, only a bitter unfunny person using victim hood to cash as many sympathy points as possible.

Worst. Comedian. EVER. When you have to explain why your joke is supposed to be funny, you failed. How did this person even make it as far as she has, she is NOT funny. PERIOD. I'm not talking about politics or whatever...I've watched some of her content and I simply do not laugh, this material can't even be used to put someone to sleep...because you can't help but want to turn it off before you can fall asleep. Unless you have the intellectual depth of a slug, I'd suggest you give this garbage a hard pass.
