It’s one of the best made series on TV, in terms of writing, performance, and direction, but it rarely bothers with anything that would immediately call attention to itself.

Halt and Catch Fire succeeds by making its tech narrative not a dry history lesson, but rather a battle of wills between four very flawed, compelling characters, each possessed of the kinds of manic ambition and tendency toward self-destruction that make for the best television drama.

What a show this became. In the end it was never really about the tech, just 5 flawed characters trying to achieve something with themselves and feel a connection with somebody else.

H&CF may have only been 4 seasons long, but it was probably the most thought-provoking and intelligently written show I've ever seen in my life. I wish this had gotten nominated for major awards, because it truly should have. I know lack of views and advertising had a lot to do with that. For those who always stayed with it though, we know it, because we know we'll never forget about it.

Season 4's first three hours make major investments in everyone, especially Gordon, imbuing them all with deeper poignancy. ... Halt and Catch Fire is an urgent story of rehumanization for a cold, wired culture. Plug in now. [18/25 Aug 2017, p.88]

Halt and Catch Fire has officially shifted into the early 1990s, exploring the days when the internet was still being invented and, in the process, cementing its place as one of the most confident shows on television. ... Like its four protagonists, it is damn good at what it does. If you don’t take the time to appreciate it while it’s still here, you might regret it.

Halt and Catch Fire is almost over, yet these early episodes feel like it’s just getting warmed up. Enjoy it while you can.

AMC's Halt and Catch Fire begins its fourth and final season on Saturday night as good as it has ever been. And it's quite possible that the whole of Halt and Catch Fire is even better than the sum of its parts.

Halt and Catch Fire has always been an acquired taste. The mixture of personal dramas and the tech world doesn’t always go down easily. Some of that continues in the new season, but the new world of the Internet kicks some life into the story.

Probably my favorite season of the year and definitely the best of the show. The writing is better than ever and the acting is just as good. But the best thing about this are the characters, so well writen and portraied, i've enjoyed follow the journey of every single one of then, including the daughters, Haley and Joanie, by the way, i would gladly watch a Haley spin-off. I'll for sure miss this show and this characters.

It took me 6 years to get around to watching Halt and Catch Fire. One of the reasons was that professional critics were so detached and incompetent in their reviews that I just intellectually separated from the opportunity. I knew it was an excellent series - but, I wanted to be removed from the stupidity of the entertainment industry before I watched it. Halt and catch fire is the intersection of excellent writing and excellent acting. It is an amazing piece of work. Now, four years after the last episode I see the professional critics somehow morphed from a 6.2 rating for the first season to a 9.6 rating for the forth season. The stupidity and incompetence of professional critics is beyond my comprehension.

Season four of Halt and Catch Fire takes everything that had built up in the show to that point and provides viewers with one of the best final seasons of a show I've ever seen. All of the characters are reaching the end of their storylines in what feels like a very natural way, and the show feels as grounded in reality as ever. This is truly a hidden gem of a show.

A wonderful series which knew when not to out stay its welcome and was subtle in its delivery. Even when addressing gay and gender questions it did so with a light touch. Four series was just about right for HaCF. I imagine everyone my age loved it as it transported us back to a time long forgotten aka the 80s and 90's and not just the fantastic backing track but the whole feel, fashion, decor and even language. It follows the evolution of personal computing from the original PC through home computers, the internet, browsers, search engines, ISP, antivirus and even the open world games philosophy. And this fantastic and instructive but the beauty of HaCF is in the interaction between the characters and their own evolution. A mass of scenes not necessary to the narrative but essential to make us aware and understand the humanity that is always behind everything in our world. This series demonstrated that life is in the detail and failing is what makes us human..

What would seem like one of the world's dullest dinner conversations has grown into four seasons of compelling docudrama. Halt and Catch Fire is wonderful.
