1923 is good, and it would be absurd to deny its quality. You can see the money on screen, the craft, the production level, the cinematography, and that large-scale ambition Taylor Sheridan handles so well within this universe. It has weight, presence, and moments that genuinely feel more like cinema than television. But even recognizing all that, it did not reach me in the same way Yellowstone or 1883 did.I think one reason is that everything felt more predictable here. The series knows how to build tension, move between different fronts, and wrap everything in a grand, epic, solemn mood, but a lot of the time it feels as if you already know where it is headed emotionally and narratively. It did not surprise me as much, and it did not hit me with the same force as those other two. It is well made, yes, but it lacks some of the emotional truth or tremor they had.That does not take away from the things it does very well. Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren bring a great deal to it. They have weight, experience, authority, and a chemistry that lifts everything as soon as they appear. Together, they carry that idea of an older generation trying to hold on while the world changes, hardens, and begins to slip from their grasp. Whenever they are on screen, the series becomes denser and more **** is also formally impressive in many ways. The cinematography is magnificent, the landscapes are filmed with tremendous force, and the whole production conveys the feeling of a major television western made without cutting corners. You can feel the care in the design, the costumes, the staging, and the overall scale of the project. In that sense, there is very little to complain about. Sheridan knows how to sell visual grandeur better than almost anyone on **** problem for me is that all this formal quality is not always matched by the same dramatic intensity. Some storylines take too long to come together, others seem more interesting in theory than in actual execution, and overall I missed a little more unpredictability. The series is very watchable, of course, but it never pulled me in with that mix of fascination and emotional wound that I found in 1883 or even in the best moments of **** the end, 1923 feels to me like a good series, even a strong one, but not one of the peaks of the Dutton universe. It has quality, it has major stars, it has image, production value, and scope. What it does not quite have, at least for me, is that extra something that turns a good series into an unforgettable one.

Another absolute hit from the Yellowstone series! This is TV worth watching! Casting, character development, plot, narrative and story are all at the top of their games here! I was hooked again right from the start! The finale was a phenomenal and tragic all at the same time. D*man good show that I wish we got more of!

An absolute great show from start to finish season 2 is even better its definitely a must watch

The most important scene in the epic western limited series 1923 isn’t fighting off a big cat, shooting through 3 bad guys, leaping from a train into infinite love, or even Helen Mirren shouting courage and resilience into existence with piercing eyes and mammoth stance no, those among many others are all ethereal amazements worthy of your eternal awe but no, it’s a moment of grandiose confidence and ego that temped God that steals the show. Some of the finest soul catching acting since Meryl’s Streep’s tiny part in the Homesman, Julia Schlaepfer stole this series with a depth and power defining everything she felt with an added effervescence to force it down our throats into our bowels, leaving us completely and madly in love with her spirit. Who is this British aristocrat who throws everything away and risks everything not just for love but for her divine energy, which we learn from her subtle expressions like a mirror not just to her soul but to ours as we peer into the ultimate triumph of humanity. The sheer terror of being **** and humiliated, seen as if for the first time, from a giant Godlike angel that cries not for herself but for the fate of humanity’s promise. It is with this serene convenience that she abandons reality, perhaps after having once again bonded with fellow aristocrats, feeling invulnerable, and alas unresponsive to God’s plain warning. You cannot make it there. There is no fuel in the treacherous storm to which the once again entitled princess blindly declares, “we have gone this far”. That’s the scene where 1923 makes its mark from exorbitant thrill to political testament; from all consuming action filled adventure to a realistic tragedy. Ignore God at your own peril. Taylor Sheridan writing sets this series, much like his pioneering prequel 1883, as must watch American classics. Apart from Schlaepfer, Mirren and Harrison Ford’s work Sheridan is the star here despite several commonsense flaws he should get a pass on. He finds any chance he can get to lead up to moments that define society and justice, exposing corruption and malfeasance at its essence. In one scene Harrison Ford, with his easily accessible honorable grit found only in a hand full of actors, casually reveals the scheme of washing machines or predatory capitalism and Timothy Dalton’s overly and unnecessarily sadistic robber baron, exposes the ultimate sense of adrenal distractions. His gun for hire, shepherd turned henchmen played by Jerome Flynn brings an exasperating redemptive angst to life with surly acceptance likewise capturing a fear for oligarchy like few if any TV series’ have shown but its Sheridan’s lines that give Flynn’s continence weight, he doesn’t layer it on like Ford would with a shrug or sigh nor does he serve the dialogue with every inch of his being like Julia Schlaepfer did. Beyond the important dialogue, 1923 gives us a roller coaster of unique action no one looking for sheer entertainment should miss. Every episode is riveting and edge of your seat satisfying except for the aforementioned most important scene which tore out my heart in order to examine or perhaps plead with us, to listen to God’s warnings because, “Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes, and shrewd in their own sight”. Taylor Sheridan has further reduced his niceau (would not have believed that this was still possible): Boring dialogues all the time, which cannot be beaten in simplicity and superfluity. Embarrassing TV show and it is inexplicable that this garbage is broadcast at all.

This show is genuinely terrible. I loved Yellowstone and 1883. Somehow made it through season 1 of 1923. Tried really hard to make it through season 2. Two episodes in and Im officially done.

I thought this was a great first season. My only knock really is this first season seems more focused on developing future seasons with little conclusion to any of the storylines started. It leaves an unsatisfied feeling by the end of season 1 like we're missing two episodes of the story.

Pretty to look at, but full of terrible choices. Also, Harrison Ford is basically unwatchable at this point.

We just finished 1923 Season 1 -- very impressed. The actor who plays Spencer Dutton could be the next Tom Sellick or Gerard Butler -- very commanding presence. Every member of the cast seems right for their role, and the cinematography should earn an Emmy for sure. Africa scenes were amazing, shot in three countries, but so was Bozeman Montana in 1923, and the killing fields of France in 1918. Unlike the stupid superhero movies, they are getting their money's worth on visual effects.

Taylor Sheridan delivers again, picking a monumental period in history. This entire season is set in an amazing era when the ancient world fell away and the roller coaster ride toward modernity began. We can see the seeds of the world today being sown, and of course, the writers take pains to inject wisdom and warnings about the state of affairs today, especially freedom of thought, speech and the pursuit of happiness. The Dutton family is aptly tough as nails, a clear carry over from the struggles of 1883 and carry forward to the ongoing saga of Yellowstone. Salute to Taylor’s courage to explore the painful history of North America after the physical genocide of natives, namely their cultural genocide through church schools, associated humiliation, and many unmarked graves. This issue has barely been addressed in popular media. More historical wrongs are unearthed every year, so this issue needs to be highlighted and reconciled. The Kenya storyline is sweeping and romantic, taking me back to the glory of Out of Africa. Having spent my childhood there, I was enamoured by the accuracy and authenticity of the storyline. The great pains taken to reproduce Africa of the period were truly impressive. The romance between Spencer and Alexandra is for ages and makes one feel alive, and immersed in destiny. The calibre of the acting is just top class, especially from Ford, Mirren and Dalton. What gravitas and finesse. It is clear this tale is a multi-season arc of survival and greed, of revenge and ambition. Can’t wait to see it unfold.

I'm enjoying this series quite a bit and I have not yet even seen Yellowstone. Harrison Ford and Hellen Mirren are fantastic, the writing is good, and the production values are of cinematic quality. I recommend it.

This is pretty bad. The story is convoluted, although it is supposed to be a continuation of 1883 up to Yellowstone (another soap opera). The acting is unbelievable and Han Solo looks really bad trying to act tough. When will this Hollywood trip end? Our view is "don't waste your time."

Crazy amount of money spent on each episode and the Africa scenes are amazing. Love Hank Ford in any role and he is decent as the aging but hard owner of the Dutton ranch. Not as good as 1883.

Not as great as 1883 but a quick watch that provides context to the overall series. Expectations don't need to be high on this one. Just provide more background to the people we've already met.

One of the best show I even see. Harrison Ford is the man with hat one more time. Hellen Miren is real wild west's woman. Taylor Sheridan's next masterpice !

It's return to the Dutton family again..Like they can't squeeze in another generation. This time 2 of Hollywoods own can do no wrongs play the leads. Well, it's like they put an old boxing ring in town and got dressed by designer Hollywood stylists. Just not very believable. The story line **** guessed it! Bad nuns, good Indians, bad sheep hearders and good Duttons. Yawn... but like said, no matter how diluted, there will nothing but rave reviews for 2 of their own....
