As someone new to the material, I found Jackson’s film soulful, respectful, masterful, horrifying, rending and emotionally true. It may not be the Lovely Bones that you have in mind, but it’s a fine and powerful one.

It's all a gorgeous error, a bonfire of overreach.

Peter Jackson's Heavenly Creatures is so far being The Darkest True Story Movie i've ever watch, while The Lovely Bones is not a true story and not as depressing as Heavenly Creeatures, the movie was still very good yet still dark, terrifying, and sad, with Saoirse Ronan powerful and amazing performance, and Stanley Tucci horrifying performance, The Lovely Bones is another Jackson's great film.

Es un muy hermosa pelicula, no entiendo como la critica encontro la forma de destrosarla, pero como sea, es una muy infravalorada peli

Jackson has not cast himself well, though. He has slathered the imagery in the wrong kind of wonderment and hyperbole, both on Earth and in heaven.

If The Lovely Bones, at least for this critic, fails, it's certainly not for lack of metaphysical gumption...It's when the movie returns to earthly life, the prosaic world of suburban cul-de-sacs and family relationships, that it falters.

How do you literalize heaven? It's a problem moviemakers have struggled with forever, and Jackson hasn't solved it.

A deplorable film with this message: If you're a 14-year-old girl who has been brutally raped and murdered by a serial killer, you have a lot to look forward to.

In Jackson's hands, The Lovely Bones is doubly appalling. Part Disney's "Alice in Wonderland," part Fritz Lang's "M," the movie is horrific yet cloying, alternately distended and abrupt, sometimes poignant and often ridiculous.

A beautifully crafted film that resonates with evil, love, vengeance, and the devastating effects of the death of a child at the hands of a serial killer. The critics who pan this movie must be bereft of sensation. I thought it was mesmerising!

Having not read the book, I came to this film blind and unaware it was even an adaptation until the closing credits. Lovely Bones is an odd film. Even by the end of it I struggled to decide whether I loved it or hated it. One of my main issues is I couldn't tell if they were glamorising the **** and murder of a young girl. Early in the film they depict well the horrors of what the family suffers at her loss; the powerlessness and search for answers. However this then takes and odd turn as we see said young girl in limbo meeting up with the other victims who seem to be calling her to join them and telling her how happy she'll be; that she needs to 'move on' and let go. I found this a rather disturbing narrative in the wrong way. There was too much emphasis on special effects of the afterlife. Something else that really grinded my gears was the narrator's constantly whispering delivery of her lines. This did not make it more impactful but irritated me as if I was watching an ASMR video. However this is something personal to me so it may not be so abhorrent to others. I think the film could have massively benefitted from a shorter runtime, as there wasn't a lot delivered in the two hours that couldn't have been achieved in 90 minutes. Overall, it can be a moving film at times but there is a lot of tediousness to get through.

Enredo intrigante, porém efeitos especiais ruins, o que nos destoa da mensagem principal do filme.

After watching this movie I wanted to through it out the window, all of the characters seem brain dead, I mean come on you've got the proof of the murder TELL YOUR PARENTS DON"T JUST STAND THERE LIKE A ****!!!! and it's just an unenjoyable movie, I mean it's a good concept, that if improved upon could make a great movie, but for now it ****.

I have waited over a year to watch this move, the reason you ask: well after reading and loving the book, I couldnt wait for the movie and with baited breath caught the first trailer for it on tv, it started well enough with Susie salmon declaring she was dead and then the next scene was of a massive ship breaking out of a even bigger glass bottle and trees turning into **** I gave it a miss!! So after a year of walking past it countless times at the video shop I finally gave it a **** I wasnt wrong to wait for DVD!! Peter jackson in all his incredibleness (yes that is sarcastic) has fallen into the biggest directors trap (ahem...Steven Spielberg and A.I.) and that is, "just cause you can do something...DOESNT MEAN YOU SHOULD!!! The whole heaven concept is ridiculous and a simple voiceover would have sufficed and focused more on the real story, that of her family and longings!!This movie could have been magical and fantastical had it trusted our imaginations, as the book did. Mr Jackson has taken out all its magic and force fed us with fantasy scenes that belong more in Disneys fantasia than in a tragic story such as this!!! What kills me is that this movie could have just been so **** well, lets wait for the swedish to remake it!!!
