Brave is a very strange movie!! It takes off straight out the gate, then introduces its story, throws in way too much slapstick and then its all over. I sat thinking...'what just happened'. The story is very weak and the whole premise is ridiculous!!Pixar seems to have gotten lazier as there waists have gotten bigger. Dont get me wrong, its amazingly beautiful and the cgi is incredible, but the story is boring and could have been told by any other studio!! Maybe Pixars magic couldnt last **** a pity but was great while it lasted!!

This movie is amazing!!! It treads such a fine line that it really could have been a very different **** instead what we get is a beautiful coming of age story, with humour, sadness and a touch a touch of 'wes anderson' magic!!! I have sent this movie to all my friends overseas and I highly recommend you do the same!!! A gem like this needs to be experienced!!!

Men in Black III6
Jun 3, 2012
A lot better than I expected, the tone was spot on as with the prevoius men in blacks. The creatures interesting, good action and a nice slice of humour!! I cant quite see how they needed "$250 million" dollars to make it though. But I was more than happy to spend my $10 dollars on it!!

It has taken me 3 years to pluck up the courage to watchthis movie. The reviews were awful at the **** to my surprise...I actually really enjoyed it!! Ray Liotta's acting was awful(and whats with his plucked **** Statham has never had this much character. I didnt fully understand the **** It says something that I had a great time watching it!!

The Five-Year Engagement3
May 8, 2012
It is such a pity as this movie has a really sweet movie somwhere in it!! I really wanted to like this and have really enjoyed all the other segel/apatow etc productions, but this movie just seems confused. It starts out as a rom com and quite a good one at that, but then all of a sudden it becomes a gross out comedy...then back to a sweet movie...then gross **** so on...aaaaaghh!!! Its tone is way off and i just wish they could have stuck with what worked and not tried to squeeze in every toilet and f%%$# joke out there!!

Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy6

TTSS is a pretty good film, I loved the subtlety & atmosphere of the it and really did want to like it more. Gary Olman's Smiley is an interesting fellow and honestly a tricky lead to follow as he gives absolutely nothing away, even towards the ends , I found myself hanging off every nuance to try interpret his discoveries. The flashbacks were the problem for me as there was no distinguishing between the current day and past, it all felt the same! To be fair, this movie have its problems, but is still an incredibly well produced movie, with lots of atmosphere. If only they'd given us a little bit more to work with!!

True Grit7
Feb 12, 2011
This movie is as standard as westerns get: from grumpy cowboys to beautiful scenery to countless gun battles and to the tales of a time long forgotten!! What sets it apart however is the quest for vengeance by a young tough as nails heroine who just happens to be 12!!!She holds the movie togethor and although she doesnt let us into her cold as stone interior, we understand her and feel fer her. Jeff Bridges and Matt Damon are equals unto each other and the banter between all is masterfully handeled by the Coen Brothers. The movie is dark, gritty and moves along at a steady gallop and builds to a satisfying finale. The master stroke for me however was how the ending reminded me that as with all of our **** biggest adventures are simply a page or a chapter and nothing more!!!

Apparantly this garbage cost in the region of $120 million to ****!!! This is case in point all that is wrong with the World at the **** pocketed investors think: Big Actors + Big Dollars + Guzzling consumers = $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$!!!Well guess what u greedy blobs...This movie was **** tanked at the box office....'sarcastic applause...clap clap clap'!! While you slowly aim that big shot gun at your foot...maybe next time you'll think twice about putting out a movie as souless as yourselves and maybe show some respect for us your audience!!! I look forward to posting a similiar review for this years Transformers 3!!!

The King's Speech3
Jan 30, 2011
Okay, after looking at some of these reviews I seem to be way off the mark on this one!! But have you ever sat through a movie and from the get go, just not believed a thing that the actors were doing and saw them just as actors acting?? Well thats exactly how I felt watching this!!! Colin Firth was spitting and stuttering on cue while throwing temper tantrums that would make a 3 year old look childish and Geoffrey Rush was looking oh so very Caricature. It just felt like an over acted, staged, Oscar Hungry **** a movie!! The entire audience seemed blown away after the film but I just didnt get it!!!

Morning Glory4
Jan 30, 2011
Being dragged along to this movie by my Fiancee I really didnt expect much!!! The cast seemed good enough, but isnt this the same Ho-hum drum that gets released every week!? Well to my surprise it actually started pretty well, Rachel Mcadams does a good job portraying a perfectionist OCD work freak, but its exhausting just watching her(and quite depressing). The supporting cast is okay, but Harrison Ford is so unlikable in his narcisitic tone that I just didnt find him funny. Diane Keaton plays her same Kooky self and Patrick Wilson the man in her life who is meant to be a 'good' guy, gives off a player/ sleazeball vibe. All in all though the majority of the film does hold firm!! The final 30 minutes however It seems to lose itself in all its contrivences ...I mean come on..." You do not go for a job interview at NBC and have a tv in front of you showing your rival breakfast show...come **** your cell phone is on?"...Please!!! I left this movie feeling sorry for all the characters, and maybe that was the point!!!...actaully...what was the point?

Black Swan5
Dec 29, 2010
Lets be honest, in 5 years time people are not going to be looking back saying " wow, remember that movie Black swan? It was amazing!!!" Nope, Once it has finished surfing its current 'hype' wave, it will sit among the 'pretty good' movies of 2010! Ill give credit where its due, Natalie Portman gives so much of herself that you wonder what depths she went too to portray this tortured **** is absolutely spellbinding. The Director 'Darren Aronofsky' however holds the reigns as best he can, but with such a bleak pallet and morbid tone, his raw technique, digs deeper than it needs and seems lost in its own pretensions. The Final 20 minutes however are breathtaking, with all the forgotten loose ends brought together in a truly operatic finale. To be fair maybe it needs another viewing to fully appreciate its complexities, but the thing is, " I don't want to watch it again"!!

All Good Things7
Dec 17, 2010
I went into this movie knowing absolutely nothing about it, which unfortunately hasn't fared me to well in the past, this however was a pleasant if not creepily strange surprise!! Not once while sitting through this did my attention drift off, I was glued to the tension and incredible atmosphere. Once finished and the creepiness had subsided, the faults with the story began to surface and thats where the problem lies!! The Story is fragmented and skips from decade to decade with no regard for the time between. The story says based on actual events and 'intense' research, but feels speculative and contrived. The acting however is brilliant and the direction, if patchy is slick and attention grabbing. This movie is a bit half and half, but I feel that for a movie with such big faults to hold my attention for so long and honestly make me think, deserves a little more than a pass!!

The Lovely Bones3
Nov 24, 2010
I have waited over a year to watch this move, the reason you ask: well after reading and loving the book, I couldnt wait for the movie and with baited breath caught the first trailer for it on tv, it started well enough with Susie salmon declaring she was dead and then the next scene was of a massive ship breaking out of a even bigger glass bottle and trees turning into **** I gave it a miss!! So after a year of walking past it countless times at the video shop I finally gave it a **** I wasnt wrong to wait for DVD!! Peter jackson in all his incredibleness (yes that is sarcastic) has fallen into the biggest directors trap (ahem...Steven Spielberg and A.I.) and that is, "just cause you can do something...DOESNT MEAN YOU SHOULD!!! The whole heaven concept is ridiculous and a simple voiceover would have sufficed and focused more on the real story, that of her family and longings!!This movie could have been magical and fantastical had it trusted our imaginations, as the book did. Mr Jackson has taken out all its magic and force fed us with fantasy scenes that belong more in Disneys fantasia than in a tragic story such as this!!! What kills me is that this movie could have just been so **** well, lets wait for the swedish to remake it!!!

Animal Kingdom9

This little Australian movie is a class above every other film I have seen this year...'and yes, that does include the much over-hyped Inception'! With its tiny budget and mostly unknown cast, it does what few movies can, it presents a completely realsitic crime world and a family lost and swimming deep in its depths. The acting is amazing and the tension created through the interactions of this 'family' is nail bitingly tense at the best of times. Its the first movie in ages that I inhaled as it started and exhaled as the credits rolled...ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!!
