The rhythmic machinery of a llama-themed rebellion: A 4.0-star sensational surge of raw, high-tension comedic grit.2007(4.0)I watched The Emperor’s New Groove (2000) in 2007, and it remains a vivid 4.0-star pillar of shwi-shwi slapstick brilliance in my archive—a raw revelation of how a sensational buddy comedy can dismantle the stagnant, "majestic" expectations of a traditional Disney epic. This experience **** the fourth wall of the animated genre by infusing Kuzco’s raw, arrogant precision and Yzma’s sensational, bbo-jjak villainous wit into a narrative rhythm that felt 100% sophisticated and chewy. The narrative rhythm was far from stagnant; instead, it offered a sensational acting power show where the raw, high-tension transformation into a llama and the hororong comedic timing of Kronk left me in a state of absolute joy at its visceral soul. Much like El Dorado, the theme of a selfish protagonist finding a genuine, raw connection hit my taste perfectly, piercing my heart with its sensational, rhythmic humor. Seeing the vivid, Incan-inspired landscapes and the raw, high-tension "wrong lever" sequences provided an emotional payoff that felt both authentic and sensational, proving that a story about "humility and friendship" could be a vivid artifact of pure cinematic fun. The 95% preservation of my memory is dominated by the rhythmic, raw beauty of the fast-paced dialogue and the vivid but pathetic attempts at assassination, creating a permanent, sensational scar of high-tension wonder on my soul. Unlike the stagnant 1.0-star drift of Ice Age, this encounter possessed a rebellious soul that turned a pathetic royal ego into a sensational masterpiece of charm. It stands in my 2007 record as a powerful 4.0-star testament to the raw power of comedic subversion—a high-tension encounter with the vivid rhythm of the jungle that remains one of the most chewy artifacts of my animated journey.

The Emperor's New Groove has a lot of positive things to say as for me it is just classy and hilarious as the voice acting is just out of this world.

Great animation brings the Emperor's world to life. At least 2/3 of the movie is following Kuzco and Pacha through the jungle as they get caught in absurd and dangerous situations, before making comical escapes. One-liners abound. Generally uninteresting characters.

Not funny at really. I thought Disney made great movies but I was wrong once I watched this movie. I lost more brain cells watching than dumb and dumber. It may have been made during the time in which Disney made great movies like lion king and Tarzan but this one isn’t very good. Watch if you want to be bored.

One of the best Disney movies by far. It's enjoyable and hilarious. The animation looks great, as well as, the characters being interesting.

I hate this movie for two reasons: One, the story and characters (excepting Kuzco and Kronk) are not good. Two, THE MEMEFEST!!!

I really enjoyed this movie. After some almost disastrous attempts at direct to video sequels, I was hugely surprised to see for once a wonderfully funny and highly original film. The animation is spot on, with beautiful backgrounds and well-drawn characters that are also likable. They are also very funny, especially Kronk, who looked similar to Gaston in Beauty and the Beast. The music by John Debney and Sting was hip and memorable. Usually in direct to video sequels(which of course this is not) the songs are just awful, and sound like they were improvised in five minutes. A good example is Cinderella 2. The songs here have funny lyrics, are well sung and sound as though the composers took some extreme lengths to make it perfect. The voice talents are exceptional. David Spade's acting ability is somewhat limited but for this type of character, a selfish emperor called Kuzco who is turned into a llama by his adviser, it works wonderfully. John Goodman was very earnest as Pacha, and the villainess Yzma, who I would pick over the really bland Morgana from the Little Mermaid sequel any day, was played to perfection by Eartha Kitt. The script is funny and touching, and while sometimes it isn't as laugh-out-loud funny as some animated films, it has a huge impact on the well told story. I have no real criticism for this movie, other than it is probably too short. Anyway 9/10. Bethany Cox.

My daughter wanted me too watch this movie, so I reluctantly did. After more than an hour I was laughing so hard I almost peed myself. David Spade knows where my funny bone lies. Kudos to you Mr. Spade. I give you my panties as a token of appreciation.

This is a very nice fairy tail with a moral message. Animation is great. One would watch it as he is watching his favorite cartoon when he was a kid. Animation maps perfectly to the concerns, feelings, paradoxes of the modern real life. Dialogues are raw, and witty and voice fits perfect to the psychology of the characters. I think this is the best side of the movie. Maybe most amusing feature of the movie is that modern world's logical and politicly correct dialogues are applied to a fairy tail setting. This creates much amusement. And it is a great psychological story though I disagree with the moral message of it, because it is not realistic, but romantic.

"The Emperor's New Groove" is a film that surprises not being as similar as the Disney films of the 1990s, but that does not make it less fun or less interesting. The main characters are cool enough to make sure the movie works to the end, especially the villain Yzma. The songs and the instrumental soundtrack by John Debney are awesome.

Surprisingly inventive, funny and fast-paced, The Emperor's New Groove offers an enjoyable entertainment to any kind of audience. Disney fans will not be disappointed.

In an era where Disney was struggling to recapture the magic that led to their "Renaissance Era" in the 90's, "The Emperor's New Groove" stood out as a pretty great film. It's well-written, it's got some great characters, it's well-animated and it's pretty hilarious. For as little attention as it tends to receive, "The Emperor's New Groove' is an extremely entertaining film and a standout amongst Disney's more underwhelming 2000's films.

This film was so funny that she only thing i didn't like was that i wanted more and it was too short. The story is also pretty predictable but the actual action thats going on isn't and thats may be some of the things that make this animation one of the funnies you watched!

Can get a lot funnier than that, but despite that... what makes the Emperor's New Groove a beautiful Disney movie to watch is by the fact it behaves like one and it isn't like your average Disney work.

This is gold! I laughed like an imbecile the whole time, and still do, at the very same jokes, because the movie makes you feel light and laugh comes with perfect timing. I feel terrible this movie was overlooked, and most of the fault is Disney's.

It's a good kids movie. Juts another creative Disney flick with good animation and fun characters, but not much more to offer than that. But the kids will enjoy it.

Just watched this movie again with the kids and my sides hurt laughing. I remember it being good but I forgot it was actually great. This has got to be THE funniest Disney Film ever. Totally underrated. I'm not sure why this movie didn't do better at the box office and is considered a "disappointment" in the Disney Animation pantheon along (lumped in with much lamer films like Treasure Planet and Atlantis). This movie really should have been a Pixar CGI film. It has the adult humor and visual maturity of "Toy Story" or "Ratatouille." With a similar South American jungle setting as "Up", I could totally visualize full realized film. Pixar or Disney Animation should just take the VO soundtrack and recreate this film shot for shot in CGI. The only major flaw I could see in this film is the title. "The Emperor's New Groove"? Really? That's the title they went with? You're telling me "Emperor Llama" wouldn't have tested better? Or to follow Disney's more recent one word naming convention, simply title it "Selfish".

After Disney's run of "classic" animated tales, they finally decided to produce a flat-out cartoon. This effort isn't one of their strongest, since the storyline is quite ridiculous, but the writing produced many great snippets of dialog, especially for the character of "Kronk". Also, a cute touch is how the characters themselves resemble the actors supplying the voices. My overall impression is that of a combination of a Hope/Crosby "Road" picture, and an Abbott and Costello flick (with Spade positively filling the acerbic Abbott/Crosby role, and Goodman in the Costello/Hope character - though with a higher degree of attitude and self-esteem). My favorite part takes place within a restaurant/greasy-spoon, where the timing of the lines and the animation blends into a masterful bit of silliness. Actually, I'd say this film was written more for adults than for children, since much of the humor may be of a higher (lower?) level. Still, I'd think kids will enjoy the comical portraits.

Now this is really funny. Animated films usually don't get much cooler than this. With a witty story, great characters, and creative cartoony animation, we have a masterpiece.

The only animated Disney movie other than "Lilo and Stitch," in the early 2000s that was a masterpiece. Verry witty, and hilarious throughout the entire movie.

This film is laugh out loud hilarious! The script is brilliant and the storyline works in perfectly with the humour. Yzma and Kronk make one of the funniest duos ever brought to the screen and I'm surprised this film didn't get more attention than it received!
