After Earth5
Jun 3, 2013
While far from the best that Will and Jaden have done, After Earth executes an adventure with relative ease, providing uplifting morals and intense action. However, After Earth may be the shortest 1 hr and 40 minutes I have ever spent in a movie theater. Very thinly plotted and doesn't embrace the world in a believable way.

I Am Legend8
Jun 3, 2013
Although the action and storyline could have been more adventurous, Will Smith's powerful performance and a heck of a lot of intense moments make this one of the most unique films of Smith's career.
May 27, 2013
Epic5
May 27, 2013
This is basically the "Brave" of 2013. Thinly plotted, cramped with too many characters, and ends all too quickly. The plot is also very predictable. There are better animated films you could watch, but this is alright entertainment.
May 27, 2013
Fast & Furious 69
May 27, 2013
Absolutely awesome. The best in the series yet. Cars now only play a small role here. Characters are now the focus and it pays off. This installment focuses more on Dom.
May 18, 2013
Star Trek Into Darkness10
May 18, 2013
STID is the best film of the year so far. It's witty, action-packed, and beautiful to look at, even though it is not quite as adventurous as the original.
May 8, 2013
The Guilt Trip4
May 8, 2013
The jokes are very calm spirited, meaning that you'll understand them, but they won't be that funny. The story feels very empty and lacks energy. I'd say moms are guaranteed to like it the most, however.
May 8, 2013
Iron Man 36
May 8, 2013
Iron Man 3 is dragged down by because of its uninteresting villains, but it still isn't enough to destroy the overall great entertainment value here. Sadly if you disliked Iron Man 2, you are likely to dislike Iron Man 3 as well.
Apr 28, 2013
Chasing Mavericks5
Apr 28, 2013
The film may serve as an inspiration to many, but too many scenes feel empty.
Apr 28, 2013
The Impossible6
Apr 28, 2013
The film starts off very unpleasant, but it eventually builds up to a solid climax, with some very inspirational and honest emotion along the way. The film is definitely not for everyone.
Apr 21, 2013
Home Run9
Apr 21, 2013
I have only been to three films in theaters where the audience clapped and cheered, and this was one of them. The others were The Avengers and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2. Too preachy? Pfft! Nah! This isn't that preachy. It does have a lot of relatable life lessons though. From the importance of fatherhood to the recovery from addiction, it has it all. The baseball scenes were also beautifully filmed. Overall the film is worth your time. SEE IT!
Apr 21, 2013
The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey10
Apr 21, 2013
Yes, this film can be very cheesy at times, but it has some of the most honest emotion and most blatant adventuring that I have seen from a film in a LONG time.
Apr 21, 2013
Oblivion7
Apr 21, 2013
How exactly did the critics think that this movie was light on story? I feel that this is the opposite. At the end, the film still poses a few questions about their universe, but the characters are interesting enough to compensate. Tom Cruise gives another great performance with a similar mindset as he had in "Jack Reacher."
Apr 17, 2013
Django Unchained10
Apr 17, 2013
Best film of 2012. Best acting of 2012. It is a shockingly exciting
Apr 13, 2013
Life of Pi10
Apr 13, 2013
how did argo win best picture instead of this? Life of Pi is waaaaay better. Featuring beautiful effects, character relationships you can care about, and an amazing survival story, I feel that you cannot go wrong with this film.
Apr 7, 2013
Napoleon Dynamite10
Apr 7, 2013
One of the best comedies ever made. Up there with Step Brothers, Austin Powers in Goldmember, and South Park: Bigger, Longer, and Uncut. Every little reaction that the characters make are memorable. There is a sweet, honest touch to the movie that most films recently have lacked. The humor mostly pokes fun at the nerdiness of high school, and it is perfectly relatable. The Napoleon dance scene alone is what makes it worth watching.
Apr 6, 2013
The Three Stooges9
Apr 6, 2013
"The Three Stooges" is a miracle. The humor not only stays true to the original, but updates it for modern times in a way that makes the slapstick genre feel fresh.
Mar 31, 2013
G.I. Joe: Retaliation6
Mar 31, 2013
No, GI Joe Retaliation is not more of the same. Its much different. After a major attack that killed most of them, the remaining GI Joes begin to rebuild the team. The white house is taken over and its up to them to save the world. This sequel is bigger than the original, but not necessarily better. I only saw one major flaw in the film, and it was that some characters felt almost unnecessary. Heck, Bruce Willis hardly got as much screen time as they hyped him up for. Still, this film is a glimmer of hope for the future of the franchise. Hopefully the next installment can improve on the little things.
Mar 30, 2013
The Croods9
Mar 30, 2013
The Croods is unique. That is a simple way to put it, but this is the best cavemen movie i've ever seen. The show has it all. Interesting characters, heartwarming moments, nonstop laughs, and beautiful animation. Sure, any computer animated film nowadays can look great, but The Croods stands out for its extremely colorful animation. YOU MUST SEE IT!
Mar 27, 2013
To Save a Life10
Mar 27, 2013
Wow guys. Just wow. The critics couldn't have been more wrong on this one. Fantastic film. Unlike many christian films, this doesn't feel low budget, and the story is intense fun.
Mar 27, 2013
Fireproof6
Mar 27, 2013
So I have to admit, the film suffers from a few poor acting performances, which hurt the sincerity of some scenes but the film's powerful messages and understandable script make it a worthwhile ride.
Mar 24, 2013
Parental Guidance5
Mar 24, 2013
The cast was terrific, especially Billy Crystal, who gave a very good performance, but with a script that is filled with mediocre jokes and predictable outcomes where everything goes wrong, Parental Guidance is mostly a generic family comedy.
Mar 23, 2013
Argo6
Mar 23, 2013
argo is an overall good film. I feel that a few scenes fell flat and many supporting characters were unnecessary because they had such small roles, but the overall film has plenty of nail-biting moments and phenomonal acting.
Mar 23, 2013
Olympus Has Fallen10
Mar 23, 2013
this film is much better than I expected. Its extremely action-packed and has very interesting characters. America FTW guys! The most patriotic movie i've seen in a while.
Mar 17, 2013
The Call6
Mar 17, 2013
Remember movies like "House at the End of the Street" or "Gone", which lacked in character development, acting, and believable tone? Remember their misguided and incoherent endings that lacked any wit? Well, i'd say that "The Call" has much more wit and believability. It suffers from a lot of important plot elements that could have been added and maybe the supporting characters could have been put to better use, but this film is a treat in a genre that has recently had a lot of repetitive and lazy flicks.
Mar 16, 2013
Frankenweenie8
Mar 16, 2013
Frankenweenie could have explored more plot points and made better use of its supporting characters. However, these are small critcisms. The overall film is beautiful, emotionally intense, and has a lot of charm.
Mar 11, 2013
Oz the Great and Powerful8
Mar 11, 2013
First off, what is with the hate on James Franco? He performed just fine! The film is actually better than it had any right to be, and in some respects, it makes the 1939 film even better. The film looks great too. The visuals look really colorful and beautiful. The clever twists at the end are just the icing on the cake
Mar 8, 2013
The Watch5
Mar 8, 2013
The Watch may have an inconsistent tone and some jokes may fall flat, but the film at least has interesting characters, with some nice dumb fun along the way.
Feb 23, 2013
The Day the Earth Stood Still9
Feb 23, 2013
So I feel that both this version and the 1951 version both have their ups and downs. The 1951 version may look cheap compared to todays standards and the ending left me wanting more, but the acting and believability are extremely high. Fortunately, the 2008 remake retains the believability. The large amount of special effects doesn't make the story of this version less interesting. My eyes remained glued to the screen as I deeply was invested in what the characters would do next. A lot more of the science and the technology of the situation is explained in this version, and putting it in the modern times didn't remove the important plot elements. I think if you enjoyed the 1951 version, you should't have many reasons to hate this one.
Feb 22, 2013
Hotel Transylvania6
Feb 22, 2013
So overall I feel that this is good fun. The main characters consist of Dracula, his daughter Mavis, and Jonathan, a human who managed to discover Hotel Transylvania. The film does a good job of developing these characters, but sadly most of the others don't have much of their personalities shown. The film starts off slow, but soon it is a speedy sugarfilled ride. So there are some noticable flaws, but I feel that this will be pretty enjoyable overall.
Feb 22, 2013
Warm Bodies7
Feb 22, 2013
This is an extremely unique movie, something i'd never expected to exist, and it was very well executed here. The apocalyptic setting is convincing, the romance is absolutely believable, and the humor is enjoyable.
Feb 18, 2013
The Alamo3
Feb 18, 2013
Despite having a lot of historical accuracy, the movie lacks any characters that will keep us interested. It also lacks any real exciting moments. So yeah, its boring and has no energy throughout.
Feb 8, 2013
House at the End of the Street5
Feb 8, 2013
What the critics don't tell you is that this movie makes you think. Its characters are all well developed and the performances are good. A pretty darn underrated movie.
Jan 29, 2013
The Possession5
Jan 29, 2013
Well, at least this movie doesn't have an extremely crappy ending.
Jan 27, 2013
Hey Arnold! The Movie8
Jan 27, 2013
This was a purely fun time. If you have ever been a fan of this show then you're gonna love it. It is fast paced, charming, and very funny.
Jan 24, 2013
Cowboys & Aliens5
Jan 24, 2013
Very formulatic despite very appealing special effects and acting.
Jan 19, 2013
Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Dog Days9
Jan 19, 2013
If this really is the end of this film franchise, then I say it ended on a pretty high note. Its all the same wacky and witty humor of the first 2, but this time its during the summer. You see Greg getting in embarrasing and troublesome situations a lot more this time around. Yes, this wimpy kid wants to play video games all summer, but his dad tries to change that. That is one big plot point. His relationship with his dad. Anyways, it is not the best of the series (Rodrick Rules is) but it is one heck of a fun conclusion.
Jan 18, 2013
Red Dawn7
Jan 18, 2013
Sorry critics. I try to see what people are finding so bad about this film, but there is too many things I like here that should be highlighted. For one thing, this movie pays much more respect the the "man in uniform" than "Act of Valor" ever attempted to have. The action is awesome, and we have reasons to care for the characters here. Unlike "Battleship", this movie develops all of its characters. No, I have never seen the original "Red Dawn", and i'm not gonna let that affect my review. This movie stands alone as something entirely different. The point is, I recommend it. I feel that it is very underrated.
Dec 23, 2012
Jack Reacher10
Dec 23, 2012
"Jack Reacher" is awesome, much better than the overrated "Looper" that came out earlier this year. This action movie might not pile up a ton of action, but the action it does have is believable and exciting. Tom Cruise does yet another excellent performance. Its not the most thought-provoking mystery movie i've seen, but it is epic.
Dec 17, 2012
The Stepford Wives8
Dec 17, 2012
Very interesting. One of the weirdest movies I have ever seen and yet it is witty, surprising, and entertaining.
Dec 15, 2012
Ice Age: Continental Drift5
Dec 15, 2012
Ice Age 4 may be the funniest film of the entire series and the animation is the best yet, but it has a story that has become very predictable just within the first half hour. Also, the film has become too crowded with characters and lacks development for many of them. Even so, some moviegoers may still like the adventures here. Just know that there is not much to keep this installment feeling new.
Dec 13, 2012
Trouble with the Curve6
Dec 13, 2012
While a lot of the movie may be very predictable, I feel that a lot of praise should be given to the actors. Clint Eastwood, Amy Adams, and Justin Timberlake make things really interesting.
Nov 25, 2012
Rise of the Guardians8
Nov 25, 2012
I expected this movie to get the same lazy story treatment that Gnomeo and Juliet had, but it turns out to be much more. Its sorta the kids version of The Avengers. It has the heart of "The Polar Express" but with action like "The Incredibles". Theres even a deeper meaning behind the movie. Its about dreaming and believing as a kid so that you can succeed as an adult as well. If you liked holiday classics such as "The Polar Express" or "Arthur", then I think you'll enjoy "Rise of the Guardians".
Nov 23, 2012
Seeking a Friend for the End of the World5
Nov 23, 2012
Trust me. If you are looking for comedy then look somewhere else, because theres not very many laughs here. However, if you want a touching story with good acting and real romance, then this is your movie.
Nov 18, 2012
October Baby8
Nov 18, 2012
I'm seeing a pattern here. Every time a movie has religious messages, most critics bash it. Don't listen to the critics this time. This movie is mostly talk but its also truth. Don't let your religious beliefs get in the way of enjoying a movie.
Nov 18, 2012
The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 25
Nov 18, 2012
In the end, its a recommendable sendoff for the series, but just barely. Problems still remain. Part 2 lacks a big conflict and instead goes in the "what if" scenario. While nicely filmed, it can sometimes be unintentionally funny just like Part 1. Again, Twilight isn't for everyone, but this may be the best of the series.
Nov 15, 2012
The Campaign5
Nov 15, 2012
Want to know the truth about this movie? Well, only a small amount of it is actually real politics. Its actually a decent scripted comedy that pokes at corrupted politics and makes good laughs out of it. It has a few scenes that fall flat, but overall its a funny comedy that offends many.
Nov 11, 2012
Skyfall10
Nov 11, 2012
To celebrate the 50th anniversary of 007, one of the best Bond films ever made has been released. Skyfall has some of the most memorable action that the series has ever seen. Daniel Craig has finally proven that he is fully capable of being Bond.
Nov 4, 2012
The Dictator5
Nov 4, 2012
Yes, it is both funny and offensive. I appreciate the execution of this idea. Its much better executed than "You Don't Mess with the Zohan", but too many scenes in this comedy fall flat, and there isn't enough plot to compensate for this.
