Jason Momoa is like Dave Bautista. They balance completely forgettable movies with massive productions. Although Bautista has shown to have a little more rank. I see Momoa, and all I see is the same dude, just in a different setting and in a different story.
Road to Paloma is no different, and he directed it.

There is a lot to experience in this slow-moving dramatic piece about revenge and honour. A clash between lawful /neutral and neutral/good. Momoa is believable in the leading role. NOT an action movie. Recommended.

Two men with their motorcycles. Fine characters and the theme, but could not get the best out of it. The film was slow, though that's the way of it. The story seems very interesting, but that continued from the earlier event which the film did not cover. So it was built on that about a native American who avenged his mother's death and now on the run, chased by an FBI agent. At some point they are going to encounter and what happens then is what puts the end to this narration. Jason Momoa starred, written, produced and directed the film. I'm really impressed by the attempt, but the film is not going to be enjoyed by everyone. It's a road movie, cross country journey, but filled with more drama than the bike ride or the roadside views. That's fine because it was about the family, and the native Americans who are still suffering from the outrageous acts committed by some of the white men. The narration lacked the appeal, because of the dullness in its scenes. But still there some very good scenes. So it feels more like a TV film and the viewers with no expectation could have a decent time. The end disappointed me, because the rest of the story was developed from the one side, that makes you are forced to believe whatever the film says. You will never have your point of view on what the film deals. If you compromise on that, it will be a better film for you. 6/10

"Road to Paloma" 10 Scale Rating: 7.0 (Good) ... The Good: Jason Momoa shows off his acting chops in this one. Usually seen as a gladiator/muscle-head type, Momoa does a very good job in a dramatic turn. Written and directed by Momoa himself, the story is a good one that gets your interest early on. Well known Native America actor Wes Studi plays Momoa's father in the film and while he doesn't have many scenes, they are memorable. Studi always seems to do an excellent job. The last 10 minutes or so of the film are powerful. The Bad: A little on the formulaic side, what truly prevents the film from being great are several lulls in the middle. It starts and ends well, but far too many of the scenes in between feel like filler. Some of the supporting actors/actresses were pretty bad.

While not as good as it could have been, this was a very good movie. While the premise initially appears to be that Robert Wolf is on the run fleeing justice, it's actually more about him saying goodbye, knowing justice will catch up with him eventually. People have complained about the slow pace, perhaps expecting car chases and explosions. But the pace of the film is just right for the story. There are scenes that could have been cut or shortened, but this film is exploring the life and emotions of a man who knows he will soon lose everything. The film could have been more subtle in the way it portrayed vigilante justice, which is perhaps the biggest flaw. But it's not in-your-face, either. In all, solid movie. And the cinematography is fantastic, by the way.

The one and only Captain Beefcake of Game of Thrones, Kahl Drogo, plays a native on the run for the law. In this road movie he's riding his bike in a beautifully filmed desert landscape with his emotional unstable buddy who joined him for no apparent reason. That's freedom, i suppose. Meanwhile, he does something spiritual with smoke, helps the innocent but above all: he does look bad ass on a motorbike. Be prepared for a long nap in this slow paced movie.
