Few movies prove with such decisive simplicity and clarity the nature of movie aesthetics, offer such proof in action of the defining qualities of the art—not showing and telling but listening, looking, and discovering.

While what Alvarado puts on the screen is too polished and intriguing — at least in terms of possibilties — to dismiss, there’s no getting around the lightweight, incomplete and in the end inconsequential feel of Lost Chapters.
