Though Hollidaysburg may not break tons of new ground, it's smart, warm and authentic — one of the better youth comedies of the last few years.

About 35 minutes of this 90 minute film actually work. That working bit is a sweet, sometimes funny, coming of age thing. The rest is a bunch of disparate strings of plot that go nowhere and signify nothing. There are also jarring camera moves that look like mistakes and the languid pace of somnambulism. The film also lacks any kind of emotional resonance. It's like the director is playing a piece of music blindfolded having never heard music before.
