Get Smart

It’s funny, exciting, preposterous, great to look at, and made with the same level of technical expertise we’d expect from a new Bond movie itself. And all of that is very nice, but nicer still is the perfect pitch of the casting.

Get Smart the sitcom was a one-joke affair and got tedious fast, whereas Carell’s starry-eyed dweeb has room for nuance, for growth, for inspiration.

Mixes broad slapstick and off-hand one-liners in a sometimes surprisingly funny mixture.

For the most part it's dull, bland and unsatisfying: a food-court version of home cooking.

All that's missing is the spirit and the anarchic humor of the sitcom created by Mel Brooks and Buck Henry. The result is an overdressed, carefully stitched scarecrow of a comedy.

There are many stretches when it's easy to forget that Get Smart is a spoof; it's more like a third-rate James Bond with pratfalls.

Remaking Get Smart for the big screen might have sounded like a bad idea, but the movie shows it to have been something else: a REALLY bad idea.

The action was better than I expected. As far as the humor goes, all the scenarios that Max gets himself into are, for the most part, hilarious. Side characters supply great one-liners,too.

Kind of a weird type 007 like movie but really funny. Anne Hathaway is really hot in this movie too.

Steve Carell and Anne Hathaway's charm make "Get Smart" worth viewing, but the movie eventually collapses through predictable gags and uninspiring action.

Trash. Seriously what an unfunny, disappointing re-make of one the funniest shows ever made.

Avertissement : vos quelques neurones restants sont menacés par cette merdasse amerlocaine d’une innommable débilité malgré le sympathique Steve Carell qui ne parvient jamais à atteindre le sous-niveau d’un Jim Carrey proclamé roi des cons depuis belle lurette. Un sourire nerveux -plutôt un tic involontaire- peut très rarement arriver quand Dwayne Connard Johnson parle de débourrer la photocopieuse (sic !) mais on stagne globalement dans un syndrome Bean-Nielsen permanent. Quoique Leslie Nielsen demeure dans ses désoeuvrements bien en dessous de la ceinture… et que Rowan Atkinson reste hors-catégorie, coincé dans la cuvette des chiottes. En tout cas, ce « film », cette espèce de « chose », ce produit chiatique de gogol-golio-mongolo-golito est une menace pour tout cerveau normalement constitué. Tous aux abris, donc !
