Fountain of Youth

Occasionally muddled, mostly convoluted, and yet still broadly entertaining, it’s a shame this glossy and big budget affair (you really can’t fake Egyptian pyramids like these), will only exist as a streaming pick on Apple TV+.

The movie stars are present, the film looks slick and shiny, and the adventure doesn’t ever let up, but something about it ultimately rings hollow, and by the second hour, you’re left wondering what the point of all of this is, at least until the characters outright explain it to you without any real emotional payoff.

Despite Guy Ritchie’s herculean efforts to combine a whole lot of immediately familiar elements into a brisk, occasionally imaginative “adventure movie” potpourri, screenwriter James Vanderbilt’s reinvention of footnotes from his real-life family history never quite achieves the consistent balance between real-world seriousness and buoyant escapism demanded of a globe-trotting treasure hunt like this.

Given all the elements involved, Fountain Of Youth should be a blast. That it isn’t is a real disappointment. Maybe best left buried.

This Indiana Jones knock-off is staggeringly slapdash.

When future generations of media scholars need an example of a work that gathered up and displayed with peerless skill all of the techniques yet devised for a new medium—in this case, second-screen entertainment, which superficially resembles cinema or television, but is meant not to make any demands on anybody—”Fountain of Youth” might be the work that they they name-check.

The movie goes to Vienna, to Egypt and to Italy and was probably more fun to make than watch.

One of the best movies in 2025 tbh. Love this so much. If you like plot twist or good acting - just watch it

This one is entertaining and delivers exactly what you’d expect from a slightly modern adventure flick, thanks to Guy Ritchie’s dynamic direction: puzzles, momentum, and above all, a real sense of travel. We follow the characters from clue to clue, crossing countries along the way. It’s fun. Minus one star, though, for the runtime — there are entire chunks that feel unnecessary, and the film would’ve been much stronger if trimmed by 20–30 minutes.Minus another point for the kid, who barely speaks. I get that it’s a narrative choice, but it makes him so transparent he might as well not exist — he adds nothing.

Natalie Portman constantly overacts, contorting her face like a cartoon. Every scene with her is a failure. The end of the movie is completely unbelievable extreme fantasy. Waste of time.

This feels like a high-budget Indiana Jones style adventure, full of gorgeous locations around the world and fun, charming characters. John Krasinski does a solid job in his role, and the production value is undeniably impressive.Unfortunately, the story itself is very weak. The plot is silly, unbelievable, and more suited for a kids’ film than something aimed at adults. It never really takes itself seriously, and for anyone over the age of 12, it’s hard to stay engaged.Overall, Fountain of Youth looks great and has a talented cast, but the writing makes it hard to recommend to older viewers.
