For people who just want more stories told in this world, and don’t mind leaving Bird Box’s initial characters behind, the spinoff’s small mysteries and shocks may be enough to occupy a Friday night or a lazy Sunday afternoon. But for people who want more depth out of their sad-dad-found-family horror stories, The Last of Us is already out there. Bird Box Barcelona just feels a little late to the game.

Thanks to a couple of novel twists, it manages to outpace its predecessor in tension and originality—if not quite reinvigorate the franchise.

Cinema often has the role of describing significant social trends and influencing human thought, shaping the public's collective perception. Cinema can beam alerts, teach, propose sane interpretations of specific historical events, conduct the capturing of meaning through its premise, concepts, scenes and production. And Bird Box: Barcelona tries hard in this particular direction, paying off in a kind measure the public's interest for cinema. The movie presents not much original and compelling ideas that creeps in through a sneaky rhythm our organized aesthetical perception and messing with our intellect controlled by intention to challenge our understanding and our intellectual courage before the images that shines and bursts on screen, a rich and ripping away story that shocks our perception and stimulates us to follow a model of interpretation of a mysterious world which we are living in. Cinema is also for mere citizens. But only if you comprehend where this guides us and wish to step in this kinda ridiculous party.

I quite liked this film, it was certainly better than its predecessor. I particularly liked the main character’s story. The setting was great and realistic, and the direction was decent enough. There could have been more suspense and more terror induced by the priestly character. I the end I liked it enough to watch it again!

Bird Box Barcelona ekes by thanks to dependable and lived-in performances, but overstays its post-apocalyptic welcome across its almost two-hour duration.

There’s nothing inherently bad in the Pastors’ film. It’s competently made with the general sheen you expect from a bigger budget. You are, however, left scratching your head about what another sequel could bring that this one clearly couldn’t. No one in this cast is as dynamic as Bullock, nor is anything as tightly conceived as in the prior film. If seeing is believing, Bird Box Barcelona doesn’t have much to show.

Bird Box Barcelona has strayed so far from what made the first film interesting, scary, and yes, timely! that it remains but a distant memory, as if someone pulled a blindfold over our collective cinematic memory, for no real reason whatsoever, with no answers to ever be found.

Nothing takes flight here. Bird Box Barcelona might be the first of its kind, but it certainly will not be the last Netflix sequel or spinoff whose primary audience is a boardroom rather than a living room.

There is no thrill, entertainment or insight to be gleaned in watching the myriad ways people can die by their own hand. It’s just awful, and this is not a film that is interested in grappling with the trauma in any interesting or helpful way. Instead it is two hours of unpleasant drudgery.

Bird Box Barcelona is a decent film. It is entertaining, tense and uses the city well, but it also feels almost completely different from the original. It shares the same world, the same threat and the same need to avoid looking, yet the point of view changes so much that the experience is not the **** first Bird Box worked mainly because of the fear of the unknown. We did not know exactly what was outside, what people saw or why looking had such a devastating effect. Everything was built around uncertainty and the need to survive without fully understanding what was happening. This film takes another path. Instead of simply following a group trying to reach safety, it focuses on someone whose relationship with the creatures is far more complicated. That change is interesting and allows the story to explore an aspect of the world that the original barely touched, but it also completely changes the kind of suspense.Mario Casas carries the film well. His character is difficult to understand at first and is designed to make us distrust him. It is better not to reveal too much, because much of the interest comes from discovering what he really wants and why he behaves as he does. Casas conveys exhaustion, guilt and a disturbing kind of faith that becomes more unsettling than some of the external **** opening is probably the strongest part. The film moves quickly, presents a devastated Barcelona and uses familiar streets, buildings and spaces as hostile locations. The city gives the story personality and prevents it from feeling like a simple copy moved to another country. There are also some effective suspense sequences. The idea of moving without looking still works, especially when characters must trust sounds, ropes or instructions that may be false. The invisible threat remains far more interesting when the film does not try to explain it too **** problem is that changing the center of the story also removes part of what made the original special. This is no longer the same direct survival tale or the same constant fear of what might appear when someone opens their eyes. The film is more interested in belief, fanaticism and the way certain people interpret the disaster. That is not necessarily a bad choice, but it makes comparison difficult. Anyone expecting another story similar to Sandra Bullock’s may be disappointed. Bird Box Barcelona has a different tone, structure and way of using the **** supporting characters are functional, although not all receive enough development. The story moves from one group to another, and some people feel more like pieces needed to reach the next event than complete characters. As a result, certain losses and decisions have less emotional impact than they should.Technically, the film is well made. The photography creates a grey, oppressive atmosphere, sound plays an important role and several violent moments are effective. Not everything is surprising, but the pace is solid and the film is rarely boring. What I appreciate most is that it tries to do something different instead of repeating the first film. What works less well is that this change also makes it less powerful. It has interesting ideas, but not all of them are developed with the same strength.Bird Box Barcelona is entertaining, tense and supported by a strong performance from Mario Casas. It offers a different approach to the same apocalypse, but it never reaches the mystery or impact of the original. Comparing them almost feels unfair because they are practically two different films.

Not a bad movie. The cult-like approach was okay, but I guess it could have been more tense. Sebastian's confused storyline adds something new to the story. But what I like about the movie is the ending and possible sequel.

IN A NUTSHELL: After an entity of mysterious origin annihilates the world's population, causing those who observe it to commit suicide, Sebastian and his daughter begin their own great adventure of survival in Barcelona. The dystopian thriller was directed by David Pastor and Alex Paster. They also wrote the movie together. On a personal note, I lived in Spain for a couple of years, so I was intrigued and wanted to see if we'd get to see the beautiful parts of Spain. Spoiler: We don't really get to see Spain's beauty in this movie; instead, we see trashed everyday streets. THINGS I LIKED: The cast does a great job and includes Mario Casas, Georgina Campbell, Diego Calva, Naila Schuberth, Alejandra Howard, Lola Duenas, and more. We get to learn a little bit more about the mysterious creatures, although we still don't get to see them. If you enjoy this franchise, you'll be happy to know that the door opens just enough to offer another sequel after this one. The protagonist struggles and we see his motivation blinds him more than his eye coverings. We also get to see some character growth. The set designs are great. THINGS I DIDN'T LIKE: Part of the problem with this sequel is that we already know the danger, mostly, so the tension isn't nearly as high as what we experienced in the first movie with Sandra Bulloch. I didn't like any of the characters. That makes it extremely difficult to emotionally connect with anyone enough to care. Some bad CGI moments. I hate it when movies make religious people look like creepy wackos. Some viewers might get confused by the jumping around in time. There are some serious plot holes. TIPS FOR PARENTS: This is not an appropriate movie for kids. Profanity and many F-bombs Lots of bloody, gory deaths. We see a lot of people commit suicide in various ways. Lots of dead bodies. Lots of blood Violence.

Heads up, do not watch this film under any circumstances, I don't know what this movie is, and I don't know if it's a true sequel, hell I didn't even finish watching it. I lost interest when they decided to go to the castle in the mountain. This film is boring, poorly edited, and just not interesting, Its like being punched in the face everytime you try and follow along with the plot. A movie like this does not deserve a detailed overview of its quality, the only thing good about this film is the environment, It's not too bad, but everything else is just so poorly done, Everything you name it. Characters, Plot, Story, Pacing, cinematography, dialogue, nothing really helps it. 3/10, Some visuals Are nice but what's the point if the film is terrible overall? I watched the first Bird Box Movie, it is definitely better than this, so watch that. Please do not waste your time, dare I say it, watch Nimona instead, definitely Extraction 2. Netflix, I don't know who you are hiring to film and direct your film content, but this is literally the definition of trash. Do you think that people are blind and can't see the quality of a film in just a mere 20 - 30 minutes, I will not finish this film and waste my time. Do better or don't do at all. The only reason why I still have a Netflix account is because I was binge-watching Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul. I'm just gonna say it again, just in case someone reads this review and can't read well, DO. NOT. WATCH. THIS. MOVIE. There I have saved you.
