Best Night Ever

The saving grace of this more-rude-than-funny film are its cast. They’re just a quartet of Simi Valley “Woohooo” girls in the opening, but the players make each member of this motley crew distinct, human and out of her depth. And Janet (Flanagan)? You’ll want to party with her.

There are two scenes in Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer's Best Night Ever that work: they are screwball and goofy which, unfortunately, only serve to highlight the fun film it could have been.

The filmmakers make sure their female protagonists constantly look immature and irresponsible, and are intent on punishing them for wanting to have a good time.

At best a fascinating sociological document of what happens when an all-male writing and production team portrays a girls' night out, Best Night Ever seems marketed to women but made for frat house consumption.

Nearly every one of the film’s attempts at comedy is clichéd, tasteless, or forced—sometimes all three at once.

This witless found-footage comedy — doesn’t so much satirize its chosen genre as shamelessly rip it off.

Likely to be appreciated only by homeless viewers who need a quiet place to nap during the cold months of winter, the movie has more awkward dead space than jokes.

"Best Night Ever" 10 Scale Rating: 1.0 (Historically Bad) ... The Good: The actresses featured seemed to have a good rapport. I might have chuckled once or twice. The Bad: Despite the rapport, the characters are cardboard cliches with no characterization at all. The film itself is a series over-the-top moments that you quickly become numb to. Just a horrible Hangover knock-off, but less believable ... if that's even possible. A candidate for worst movie of 2014 and will no doubt land on my Top 50 worst films of all time list.
