Given the devotion Ball continues to inspire in fans, it was perhaps too great a challenge for anyone to live up to casting expectations. Still, Being the Ricardos hits all the right notes, making these larger-than-life people seem at once pointedly human and even more ground-breaking than ever.

It is filmed, perhaps fittingly for the subject matter, like a TV show. But on the heels of a Sorkin movie, The Trial of the Chicago 7, whose women were essentially hippie-styled set dressing, it’s a pleasure to see him putting some of his signature quips in the mouths of female characters, especially one as spiky, complicated, and powerful as Lucille Ball.

I never watch I Love Lucy but i do know it, same thing with Lucille Ball, and seeing and watching this extraordinary story, so do the incredible performance by all the cast, is just amazed me so much, i don't know about the people who were a big fan of the show and seeing all the cast potrayal of the real life or the character, but for me as the one who didn't watch the show before watching the movie, i'm amazed, at in the end it's an extraordinary story, the performance? it's depends.

The bottom line on Being the Ricardos is that it’s irresistible. It’s an invitation to go behind the scenes of the “I Love Lucy” show and to see what Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz were really like. It’s also an invitation to travel back to the 1950s, with writer-director Aaron Sorkin as your guide.

You want to introduce your kids or grandkids to the undeniable pleasures of I Love Lucy? Then I’ve got one word for you: re-runs. Because Being the Ricardos doesn’t do Lucy justice or suitably celebrate her career.

Sorkin’s approach is to focus on the things that are happening rather than to inquire as to the contours of Lucy or Desi’s internal monologues, and so they remain unknowable, moving through a biopic that offers little more than an exercise in re-enactment.

You suspect Sorkin relishes the clash between Ball’s fundamentally fatuous show and the razor-smartness of his take on it. And it is smart. It just isn’t much else.

A Wikipedia entry fed into what can only be called The Sorkinator, but missing the wit module, Being the Ricardos is cultural-television-marital history flattened into a babbling stream of airless, horribly shot scenes that never come close to the glorious timing of a single comic exchange on “I Love Lucy.”

I enjoyed it - the acting was top-notch. Nicole gave I think the most technical performance of her career. For people who love technicality, she hits EVERY note. Nina Arianda is also 100% flawless, she should be getting noms and wins left and right, but because she's not as big a star + the movie isn't getting raves, she isn't, which is such a damn shame. Nicole absolutely NAILS NAILS NAILS the I Love Lucy show scenes. You could see she studied and studied and studied every part of those bits.

I am such a big fan of Sorkin, but I just did not connect with "Being the Ricardos". Everything just felt so artificial. JK Simmons was the only actor who drew me in, and he had a pretty small role. It seems like it all should have made for a terrific movie plot, but it just didn't gel.

Like a historical look at some television icons from the 1950s, a lot remains to be said. The actors did their best but the plot at times becomes soporific, and by the second half I was already anxious for it to end soon. Better luck next time.

The underlying problem was the script and direction, it felt like Sorkin copied and pasted various highlights from Lucille Ball’s Wikipedia page to fill in the main story about Lucille’s Communist ties but it fell flat. Despite their efforts, the main characters were miscast and Kidman distracted from the story, with only the supporting cast the redeeming part. This feels like a film will not stand up to the test of time and forgotten in a few years.
