While the Soviets can be considered a new playable faction, the fact that they don't bring any new units means they play pretty much identically to their American enemies. This is perhaps Soviet Assault's biggest disappointment.

Soviet Assault is still an indispensable title, although the developers should have included more new features or, at least, more missions in the campaign mode.

To everyone who liked, or still likes, World in Conflict, Soviet Assault is a must-have. The simple fact alone, that you’re finally able to play as a commander in the Russian Army is sort of a fans dream come true. Unfortunately though, the original's slight overview-problems still haven’t been solved.

Only six missions and no gameplay changes whatsoever? Some people will be disappointed by Soviet Assault. But the add-on delivers just what WiC-players need: The new missions fit exactly into the main story and are far more diversified than those of the main game. Whoever liked World in Conflict will absolutely love this “directors cut”-version.

Soviet Assault is a must have for World in Conflict fans. It does not contribute too much content, only six missions, but its low price and its undeniable quality are enough reasons to search for new challenges in the Massive Entertainment’s universe.

The expansion’s mission set is fun and engaging, but the whole experience only lasts for six missions.

If you're really into the fiction of the game or crave anything World in Conflict, then the missions won't disappoint, but if you feel you've already had your fill with the storyline, you're not missing out on that much if you pass on Soviet Assault.
