Early promise and allure is almost enough to make up for later failings. But with increasingly looser puzzles and world design as the game progresses, What Surrounds Us is less about unrealised promise than a lost nerve.

What Surrounds Us is a minimalist puzzle game made up entirely of coloured loops, that unfortunately feels more frustrating than fun.

What Surrounds Us manages to do a lot of interesting things, both thematically and with its gameplay, and it does it all in a tight, three-hour playthrough. Who knew a cute little donut had so much depth?
