This is an absolutely beautiful game deserving of praise and attention. I sunk 80 hours into the campaign on the hardest difficulty. Every mission was interesting and the scaled well in challenge. All in all, excellent work by the development team.

Best musket/rifle combat and management game since Empire Total War. About 30 hours worth of gameplay. Highly recommended.

What a gem ****. This is civil war tactical combat at its best. The graphics are good but 2d to represent 3d. This allows large numbers of soldiers on the screen. Sound is good and unit management is also great. Things to change to make this a 10. Them map needs a little improvement so that units react to in in a more realistic way. For instance units will sometimes form across water features like they are not there. Additionally while I loved The unit customisation screen I felt the officers got promoted too quickly, so that generals would be commanding units that traditionally a Major or Colonel would.

If you like strategy games which have the civil war as background, this is the one for you. Besides the historic battles on detailed maps you are also in charge of managing your brigades inbetween the fights, including deploying new divisions (infantry, skirmish, artillery, cavalrey units) with real civil war commanders, historic weapons to equip and having a look at your economy (manpower greenhorns and veterans, supplies, money). Battles are fought in realtime, but you have enough time to give orders to your troops. Don´t imagine a faced paced strategy game like starcraft ;-) Easy clicks to give orders to your troops makes the game very friendly for beginners and veterans due to three different difficulty levels. As fan of historic strategy games you will ove this one!
