Overall, I’d say The Crew Motorfest is a big step up from the prior games in the series, and gives some hope for additional variety in open world racers in the future. Granted, it sticks pretty close to the same formula that Forza Horizon has, but there’s enough differences between the two to make this still feel like a worthwhile use of your time. It’s a gorgeous game in motion as well, which doesn’t hurt. As far as complaints go, mine are pretty minor, in that I don’t care for the limited fast travel system that’s only tied to the intro areas for each Playlist, and I wish the server didn’t time out as quickly as it does when you go idle. Outside of that, I’ve really dug Ubisoft’s latest attempt at an open-world racer, and I think you will too.
Even with questionable aspects such as the premium currency, The Crew Motorfest has tons of style and quality flashes, with a solid proposal that can connect with the most eclectic speed lovers (one race you are in the mud, the next on F1). Too bad that aspects such as the improvable multiplayer, or the "always online", affect the final result.
(My opinion no ofense) better than forza in many ways. You can rewind max 14 sec but you can stop whenever you like, no loadscreen, fast travel free, better playlist so over all it is the best vehicle driving game in the universe i love this game so much but they could add more bmw
I was looking for years now to get a title on Playstation which holds up to the latest Forza Horizon. Motorfest was a good candidate but slightly falls behind FH in terms of visual fidelity on release. It just couldn’t meet my expectations. But playing on PS5 Pro nicely improves visuals. Also, a lot of enjoyable content was added since release. This is one of the best arcade racing game for the current generation.
Beautiful, rich in content, varied in what it offers, The Crew Motorfest is a very good 100% arcade open world racing game. Riding on the heels of Forza Horizon, it is currently one of the most successful clones of the genre leader, even if this means that the French studio preferred to take the lead from its British competitor rather than plow its own furrow. The Ivory Tower software is more effective than surprising, but its qualities are numerous enough that we do not look at its predecessors, in retro, with regrets.
I really wasn’t expecting Motorfest to be that big of a step forward for The Crew, but I’m pleased that I was wrong. All the major aspects of gameplay have been massively improved from its predecessor with the racing engine, events system, and reward loop each being better than before. While The Crew 2 only attracted a niche fanbase because of its unique gimmicks, Motorfest has a much broader appeal.
The Crew: Motorfest is exactly what you expect if you have played the previous parts. A large, open environment to race around in is never boring. The game is rich with vehicles and various activities, good for dozens of hours of fun. It is notable, however, that the side activities exceed the number of races in volume, which is a somewhat odd balance. Also, the ghosts of other (AI) racers are confusing and the menu is chaotic, but that does not take anything away from the fact that there is a lot of fun to be had in this game.
It's not a frustrating game, nor is it a bad proposal, but it does fall halfway down the road by failing to stand out. The open world that invites us to go through the playlists, before unlocking fast travel, is aesthetically appealing, but it feels like a ghost town where nothing happens and our gameplay loop lacks basic fun. The playlists are a great aspect, but not all of them are interesting to explore, leaving aside the strong offering of vehicles with anecdotal experiences that aren't all that worthwhile. On the plus side, it continues to appeal to arcade adrenaline. While it wants to copy something that was previously successful, it doesn't end up being a meaningless copy.
one of the best arcade racing games after a long time the playlists are fun each one hase its unique gameplay and the graphics are a big improvement from the last game the map is well detailed and fun the updates and the cars that has been add are perfect can't wait for the new island that is coming in november 6 thanks to the developers for making this game to look even better after a year im having so much fun with this game and i hope it lasts for ever
Good game. Beat in 18 hrs. Just had the standard game, no DLC. Good: Driving Feel, game did a great job of that. Different vehicles to choose from. Like you could play one round in a car next on a yacht. Cars looked amazing.
Meh: Other than the cars this is a very PS4 game graphically.
Bad: My goodness it gets repetitive half way through and the open world is literally sterile. No story. Tons of in game purchases. Had to repeat levels to get coins to not pay real money near end. Not cool.
Would give it a 7 out of 10 as the most important thing in a racing game is driving and they did a phenomenal job of that. I see it on sale on the PS Store for $17.49. I would recommend at that price.
I downloaded this game I bought it and I actually did like it but you know I was expecting a little bit more but it's fine to play it you know couple hours couple days you can spend time on this game you can chill out on this game and I actually deleted it but who knows maybe I will redownload it. Overall 6,8/10
Decided to try out this game, I had already played all modern NFS games and absolutely loved them, so I thought I’d try out The Crew. I had never played any of them before. I really hate the understeer on these cars, it doesn’t seem as smooth as NFS, it either wants to steer completely, or not at all. The graphics feel a little poor, almost cartoony, whilst NFS is more realistic. The car showroom thing is a complete mess, I can’t find anything at all, everything takes ages to load and requires this loading after every action you take. The “AI companion” is incredibly annoying, it’s not AI at all, just some robot talking. The physics feel completely off, I’d either go spinning out of control or not steer at all. Finally, all the cars are loaned until you complete the series which feels like an absolute chore. Overall, I completely regret purchasing this game, there’s not much I can say about it that’s good, it just angers me every time I go on the game, whereas NFS feels more fluid. I’ll definitely be sticking with their titles, not this.
This game is possibly the funnest racing game that I've ever played. So, you'd think that my score would be higher... The Good:
600+ vehicles at launch with the most versatility I've ever seen. The map is smaller than The Crew 2, but it looks way better with a very vibrant and rich Hawaiian island landscape. The graphics are not the best I've ever seen, but are more than enough to enjoy at 60fps with HDR popping those vibrant colors out. The ability to switch between air, land, and sea is new to me and only adds to the freedom and versatility of exploring an open world map. The driving physics, although not quite as realistic as Forza or Grand Turismo, are a significant upgrade from The Crew 2 as an arcade-racer with more semi-realistic physics. The online content is packed each week and with new themes each month. They've already added a small island with a new racing playlist and it seems like the game is going to be pushing new content every month. The vehicle customization is versatile enough to enjoy and feel unique. The Bad:
The upgrade system for vehicles parts is probably the worst that I've ever used, plagued with overcomplexity and tedious grinding. This game claims to be crossplay, but that only works in the grand race, not in free drive. "Pay to Play" is definitely involved with the very special customizations like underglow kits, tire smoke, etc. You cannot earn enough to buy more than a few major items unless you drop your credit card and buy more "Crew Bucks" and this game was already $70 at launch. It's called "The Crew", yet whenever you're in a crew, your buddy might just randomly disappear in front of you which is defeating the entire premise. It also feels like its development is held back by constantly catering to last-gen consoles instead of only focusing on new consoles and PCs with updated hardware.
