It may not be the best possible way to play Terraria, but taken on its own merits the Xbox version is still a triumph.

As absorbing and oddly addictive an experience as you'll find on 360. Just keep an eye on the clock - this game devours hours at a time. [Issue#98, p.81]

It's a slow starter, then, but you'll struggle to find a game this year that offers quite so much as Terraria. [Issue#135, p.122]

Stop with the prejudice of "it's just a 2D Minecraft" or "it's a 2D open world, it must be awful," I had the same view, and I can say I was wrong after playing **** beginning, when you know nothing, can be a little boring, but that's solved by playing with friends, especially if they've never played it either. It's a game full of secrets, artifacts/weapons to collect, occasional events, etc. Even after finishing it, you can play again after a while, trying to play with another class or something like that. I highly recommend buying it.

The whole point of Terraria is to explore, find weird contraptions and treasure chests, and use new items to make even more awesome things. I just wanted to keep unlocking the secrets of the game, and that is why this simple yet massive game just keeps giving and giving. I have barely scratched the surface, and I can’t wait to play some more.

Like Minecraft, the biggest difference to most triple-A titles lies in Terraria not wanting to tell you a story. It's waiting for you to craft one of your own. Think of a "normal", big action-adventure game as a glass of your favorite beverage. Terraria just gives you a pitcher and a bunch of ingredients to brew one of your own. Some people will prefer a walk to the bar, to get something prepared in advance. Others will happily go ahead and create the drink of a lifetime.

Immensely enjoyable. Almost endlessly so, in fact. If you haven’t played it yet, you’re missing out on a very clever 2D crafting/survival game that wears its retro influence on its sleeve. If you’ve already spent hundreds of hours in this world, there’s some new stuff to see in this version of the game.

Terraria may not be accessible, but this sandbox is so deep that you might find yourself buried in self-appointed goals and chasing that carrot of upgradable gear into the early hours of the morning. The combat and controls could use more polish, but a nearly infinite well of items and randomly generated worlds make up for those faults. A lot of games try to hold your hand through a scripted experience, but Terraria makes a good argument for the merits of directionless creation.

When Terraria sucks you in, you might find yourself digging and crafting for far more hours than you originally intended.

Terraria's debut on Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 follows the extreme fidelity to the concept of the PC version published two years ago.

Terraria may be flawed and unapproachable by mainstream standards. However, it challenges you to become the master and director of your fate rather than a simple pawn moving along a preset path. Interactive entertainment would be better off if more games aspired to such grand ambitions.

Good game to play with friends :) Better with mods but the base game still has enough content for a while.

While the xbox 360 version has some memorable changes compared to the pc version, it overall lacks with the poor controls in the xbox version

Color scheme is all weird, controls are clunky, crafting glitches not showing all you can craft low unstable FPS, having more then 4 people in a game is unplayable due to lag, when you do lag in multiplier you'll glitch into walls, 15$..... My advice, go get the PC one when its on sale for $2.50 there are NO problems on that one

While there is seafood involved, there are no lobsters in the game. Nor are there any crabs, so at least that's something
SummaryTerraria offers players a chance to be an action gamer, master builder, a collector, and even an explorer.
