Scarface: Money. Power. Respect.
65
Scarface on PSP lacks the excitement of its console sibling. It has plenty of scenarios from the movie, as well as some of its own, but the strategy never gets deep enough to make up for the lack of real action.
Fans of the film may enjoy the idea of building their own criminal empire, but those expecting a fast-paced action experience are in for a rude awakening.
If you aren’t interested in learning the fine points of micro economics, then Scarface will likely bore you after three or four hours. The menu-based gameplay lacks the personality that you might expect from a Scarface title, and the game becomes elementary after you figure out the system.

This game really is a disappointment. I expected a lot more from a title with such a huge name associated with it. The gameplay is very slow and you see pretty much one screen the entire time.

Coming off an excellent use of the license for the PS2 game, Scarface blunders onto the PSP with a UMD that has plenty of content just no game-play. Instead of condensing the sandbox game into perhaps a 3ps or a top down shooter, things go in a very sad direction. The developers would want you to believe there is a game in there something but there is not. press a few buttons and you might luck yourself through a pre-rendered shootout that has no challenge other than to know which pre-set categories to max out. Win the shootout and you will receive a clip from the movie, rinse, wash, repeat. They might of hit the nail on the head with the sandbox game, but they didn't even bother with the handheld version, this "game" is not worth anyone's time.

Scarface applies the exaggerated themes from the movie to a turn-based strategy game with surprisingly good results.

Scarface for the PSP surprised me a lot once I got past the boring tutorial. It’s an unexpectedly enjoyable, highly replay-able strategy game with terrible sound and marginal at best graphics.

Two things to consider. 1: It's a PSP game so it's bound to be crap. 2: It's a Turn-Based Strategy game. It's not similar to the console version. This is solely focus on the drug dealing. The game takes 5 minutes to pick up everything there is to know on how to play. The tutorial is brief and simple. The rest of the game is actually entertaining because it shows real movie scenes but with fictional gameplay and intergrates both into a backstory. The in-game combat is turn-based and has almost no strategy to it. It's mostly just pot luck. But despite the unnacetably hurrendous graphics, it's an addicting little game not because you want to learn it better, but because it's so god dman easy and simple.

With lengthy single-player modes and an excellent multiplayer mode there is little to complain about in this department but you’ll wish there was more excitement to the dull combat.

An OK strategy game, but lacks the guilty pleasure of its big brother. [Christmas 2006, p.100]

It's just that there isn't much there, and it gets repetitive quickly. Chances are you'll be more entertained by simply watching the movie a few more times - or heading back to your console for another blood-soaked round with Tony on the bigger screen.

A shallow and unstimulating attempt at a strategy title with little tactical variety or visual flair. Don't bother with this one. [Christmas 2006, p.89]

Absolutley the worse game i have ever played for psp. I'm completely shocked that they would sell this for anything more than $5. The worse part i paid 30 for it, and it only trades in for 2!! You will have more fun playing tetris on your PC than this sorry ass excuse for a game.
