Rock Revolution
Despite its baffling looks, booming resonance, and asymmetrical layout, Rock Revolution’s controller is not actually the game’s biggest problem; it’s Rock Revolution’s note charts and the onscreen icons that make the game so joyless.
Whereas Rock Band 2 and Guitar Hero: World Tour headline the music game genre, Rock Revolution is a scrappy cover band. Its presentation rips off Rock Band's, the scrolling notes are hard to keep up with, the career mode is unsatisfying and the song selection, while decent, is made up of lame cover tracks.
On the whole, Rock Revolution just falls short on every level.

The vocals are all re-recorded (not well), the instrumentals are all off-beat. The tracklisting is pretty good tho.

It's not too bad. The game-play is fine once calibrated properly. The visuals are okay, even though you should only be looking at the notes on your 2d fret-board (yes, a vertical 2d fret-board, make sure to adjust your eyes!) The soundtrack is good, and the covers are somewhat alright. A few other features and modes make it an alright purchase by today's standards.

I have played the career mode all the way with a Guitar Hero guitar and I really missed the point with the low ratings since it al worked well enough and even the "cover" soundtrack was perfectly executed. A good alternative to RB & GH series if you catch it at low price.

Rock Revolution is exactly what you’d expect from the music game genre, assuming the last three years never happened.

Rock Revolution is a bad attempt at cashing in on the genre. It really does nothing to separate itself and actually siphons most of the enjoyment out of playing music games.

So Rock Revolution isn’t quite the revolution it claims to be. Quite the opposite, in fact. It’s a game that cuts every corner possible to create a soulless, low-cost venture that happily plays second fiddle to its competitors.

If Rock Revolution came out two or three years ago, it might have been revolutionary, but in 2008, it's not even relevant. Uninspired presentation, a tiny tracklist that includes no master tracks, a complete lack of vocal support, uninteresting gameplay, and a barebones Career mode are just a few of the many ways in with Rock Revolution fails.

A music game so bad you genuinely feel pity for Konami. Just stick to Guitar Hero or Rock Band.

Rock Revolution is inferior to its competition in every single possible way. If you absolutely have to try it, we urge you to think of it as a track pack of guitar-only songs for Rock Band or Guitar Hero and buy just the game (instead of the drums-included bundle).

Rock Revolution is ruined by its painful visual style, and is nearly unplayable on the higher difficulties. [June 2009, p.83]

Lets put it this way. Guitar Hero and Rockband had a baby and this is the crap that came out. I like the soundtrack but the gameplay and graphics are just horrible. But on the bright side you can buy it for 3 dollars so if you just want to buy something cheap this is for you.
