Racing with an old flair, yet creating with a new one, Ridge Racer fans will find a lot to love here.
Falling somewhere between a traditional Ridge Racer title and a Burnout game, Unbounded fails to fully succeed at recreating either experience, ending up in between the two racing franchises in terms of quality.

An intense and addictive adrenaline rush, a high-speed power fantasy that will make you feel like Jesus on Wheels - when it works. When it doesn't, which is a lot, races tend to reduce to exercises in tedium and frustration. [June 2012, p.73]

Non stop awesome. Over the top crashes, constant explosions. See that passenger train ? Bam! Drove right trough it. **** logic, exploding concrete everywhere. AI can be challenging, but damn every track is a exhilarating rollercoaster ride. Burnout x Split/Second x Ridge Racer combo. Congratz Bugbear, awesome game. Now if you would just add pedestrians for a carmageddon feel I've would have given it an 11.

Ridge Racer Unbounded is decent. The cars handle **** build up a power meter to boost, which can allow you to destroy a building to take a shortcut or to wreck a **** AI is very cheap, and one mistake nearly always costs you the race, which is very frustrating. The game's framerate stays stable at all times, and the game looks gorgeous. The sound efffects and soundtrack are poor though. Like I said before,Ridge Racer Unbounded is decent, but frustrating.

Game Chronicles
Ridge Racer Unbounded might not be the Ridge Racer game your dad played back in his day, but don't let the name fool you. It's dark and dirty visual style is second only to the dirty and explosive racing action that awaits when you strap in behind the wheel of this addictive arcade racer where the only limit to your fun is your imagination.

The Finns sure know how to make a crash-and-burn driving game. Bugbear has transformed the Ridge Racer franchise in to a whole new level. This game has attitude. [May 2012]

Ridge Racer Unbounded is a dramatic departure for the series, but one that's filled with some gloriously destructive, fast-paced racing.

If you've grown tired of having your hand held through tutorial after tutorial, and incredibly easy arcade racers, the challenge offered by Unbounded is sure to appeal to you. I've definitely found myself enjoying this title a lot more than I would have anticipated, and urge racing fans to check it out.

A solid and entertaining arcade racing game, with a monstrous tracks editor and a good amount of content… but please, don't call it Ridge Racer!

A lot of different pieces that don't work well on their own, let alone together.

Terrible car physics and equally bad track design make this the black sheep of the series.

Absolutley exhilarating! Fast, furious and total chaos at times, the music is fantastic and the graphics and effects are superb. It can occasionally be frustrating when the enemy AI is aggressive, but if you choose the right car you can usually avoid this - the cars with poor handling are easily knocked off course, and it pays to use a car with a little less speed/acceleration but better handling and strength! But brill game, if you liked NFS: Most Wanted then you'll like this: It doesn't have a massive amount in common in terms of gameplay mechanics but the rush from playing is similar. Don't hold back: buy this!!

I don't think this is ridge racer anymore. It feels more like a Burnout wannabe. I mean who would want to take the gameplay that made up the series and turn it into this?
