Rhythm Heaven

Still, with such a wide selection of games to choose from with over 30 core mini-games, not to mention medals to win, "Perfect" ratings to earn, and incredibly simple yet insanely engaging Endless Games and Rhythm Toys to unlock (never thought I'd spend two hours digitally flicking a coin in tune with an ever-changing tempo), Rhythm Heaven is a must-own for handheld gamers everywhere, plain and simple, and a welcome breath of fresh air for the gaming scene in general.

Punishingly difficult, yet ostentatiously cute, Rhythm Heaven is the epitome of what a handheld music-based game should be. Forget guitar grips or funky cheerleaders! You won't find a more engaging or entertaining music experience for the DS.

It is my sincere hope that Rhythm Heaven finds its audience, because for a subset of the gaming populace, it's going to be the source of many hours of enthusiastic fun.

Rhythm Paradise is one of those games that makes you grin unwittingly. A lovable bunch of characters, a top notch sound track and addictive gameplay all blend together to create a game that, if you're a fan of music games or anything slightly off-centre, must be experienced.

Though Rhythm Heaven hits a smattering of flat notes, its composition and concept are simply divine.

Additional mini games and rewards would've made Rhythm Heaven live up to its name. As it stands, however, it's a quirky, entertaining romp that deserves at least one playthrough.

An excellent rhythm game from Nintendo that truly focuses on the beat and stands out from other music games, showcasing Nintendo's creativity. If you're a gamer who has played other music games and felt dissatisfied – perhaps finding they rely more on visual cues than listening, or feeling unconvinced by the timing of your inputs – then you should definitely give this game a try. The touch-based gameplay is also exhilarating and feels great. I think the graphical style is stylish and interesting too. Personally, my favorite rhythm game within the game is probably Lockstep.

AKA Rhythm Paradise, this is a Simon Says-style music game reminiscent of the Guitar Hero games and their ilk. Mildly amusing in small doses but like all of these types of games, it's very repetitive by nature.

I bought this as an impulse buy when I saw it sold cheaply, but I was mostly disappointed by this game. The graphics and sound are okay, but the frustrating game-play and the restrictive game setup is the main reasons for my low score. Not only is the game too hard, but it doesnâ

If you want to avoid getting upset and frustrated, please for the love of god avoid this game at all costs. To any rhythm Heaven fans, I know I sound like I'm exaggerating, but I'm being dead serious. The scoring system and audio-cue controls are so frustrating. If you make just a few mistakes, you fail. But in all seriousness, if you want to play an actually GOOD rhythm game, Just play guitar hero or rock band instead.
