An action roguelike with a gorgeous hand-drawn art style, Realm of Ink is a very welcome addition to a somewhat crowded genre. Fast-paced combat and a wealth of unique skills make this a standout entry into the space, with a solid permanent upgrade system keeping you coming back for more.

Realm of Ink is a very good roguelite that plays well and uses East Asian mythology as a great basis to tell its story. Being able to create some really powerful builds and demolish enemies, but it can also be considered a rather easy experience despite higher difficulty settings.

In order to appreciate Realm of Ink, you need patience to look beyond its initial appearance, which may seem like a mere cheap copy. As you discover its unique shapes and colors, you will find a fun, fast-paced roguelike with interesting challenges. Its unique visual style and enviable amount of customization make the title addictive. Some minor smudges here and there slightly detract from the overall quality, but the final product is more than worthy of its place in your gallery.

Realm of Ink is an elegant and deep action roguelite, combining visual beauty with a good amount of mechanical variety. It’s not without its flaws: the narrative could have been more compelling, the difficulty more balanced, and some early stages less dependent on luck. However, the combat system, the richness of the build options, and the gorgeous art style make it a recommended title for fans of the genre.

Realm of Ink delivers a stylish roguelite experience with fast-paced combat, strong visual identity and fun build variety through Momo’s transformations. While balance issues and technical problems prevent it from reaching the heights of the genre’s best, there’s still plenty of fun to be found for players looking for a more accessible hack-and-slash roguelite.

Realm of Ink is a fun and visually stunning roguelite that delivers on its promise, though it isn't without its flaws. Its direct inspiration from Hades ultimately works against it, as it sets the bar too high and falls short in some areas of gameplay.

A Hades inspired action roguelite with a similar isometric view, pacy combat, and Chinese ink brush visuals, whose addictive action makes up for a lacklustre storyline.
