Capcom has taken a gamble with Pragmata, blending together multiple genres to create something that feels fresh and unique. At the heart of it is hacking-infused third-person shooter combat, which remains engaging and exciting throughout. And when paired with a story that tugs on the heartstrings, the result is something rather special. Ultimately, Pragmata is not only game of the year material, but also one of the most exciting new IPs in recent years.

Hey Poor Player
Pragmata is Capcom’s biggest swing at a new IP in years, and the wait was well worth it. Basing the entire combat loop around a real-time hacking minigame was a risk, but it stays engaging for the entire playthrough. I really hope Capcom gets to make a sequel, because there’s an amazing foundation here, and I’m not ready to leave Diana behind just yet.

Though I may have some reservations about the way it handles its story, Pragmata is short and sweet with a resonant message, and an electrifying combat system that had me truly locked in in a way few other games ever have.

Pragmata is a fun, thrilling sci-fi romp. The combat/hacking mechanic evolves the shooter genre in a refreshing way, while the tale of villainous AI, rogue 3D printers and unlikely human connection blends the horror elements with something more wholesome. This is a sleek, polished package from legendary developer Capcom that makes every minute of its to-the-point 12-hour playtime matter.

With an exciting, innovative combat system that remains fun even in the endgame, a sympathetic duo of protagonists whose chemistry is perfectly balanced, and a fascinating science-fiction world, Pragmata is already shaping up to be one of the highlights of the year.

Loot Level Chill
Despite a few very minor complaints, Pragmata is one of Capcom's most interesting and enjoyable adventures to date.

It goes without saying that Pragmata is a terrific game and one of 2026’s must-play titles. It fires on all cylinders and doesn’t let you go, even after the credits roll. The frenetic action, charming characters, and striking visuals help bolster a creativity rarely seen in AAA titles. While it can play it safe in the story and settings, it is one of Capcom’s best games this decade and a sure-fire Game of the Year contender in my book.

Pragmata marks something truly special for Capcom; an experience that manages to marry action, conflict, and story into a cohesive whole that more than justifies the long wait for expectant fans. It juggles a variety of mechanics and miraculously blends them together. Every facet of this game is explored to its fullest, with still more room to grow. For all I can say in this review, Pragmata is very special.

Having such a secure path to success with titles like Resident Evil, Monster Hunter, or really any of its legacy franchises could have pushed Capcom to retreat further into its comfort zone. However, fortunately for all of us, what the company has achieved over the past decade has had the opposite effect. Proof of this can be seen in games like the sensational Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess and now Pragmata, which carries the responsibility of revolutionizing an entire genre. Indeed, we are looking at one of the biggest titles of 2026—one that we simply cannot recommend highly enough to keep on your radar.
