Mobile Suit Gundam: Battle Operation Code Fairy
Code Fairy feels like an unfinished product struggling with tons of big and small issues, and fails to fully satisfy even the die hard fans of the Gundam series.
I enjoyed the single player and slower pace of Code Fairy. I was finally able to get a handle on the combat and movement system that Battle Operation uses. But really the true cherry here was the fantastic story of the Noisy Fairy Squadron, watching this team start off on shaky ground but ultimately coming together and meshing as all good teams do was just the feel-good story that I needed to see. Its one that really resonates with people, and the fact that it's so well done and is an all-female team is a nice chef’s kiss.
Mobile Suit Gundam Battle Operation: Code Fairy is strictly for the fans. That isn’t to say people who are unfamiliar with the series won’t enjoy it. Indeed, with as few walking tank games out there as it is, anyone into this type of gameplay will probably enjoy things here. It’s just that being invested in the story of Gundam helps a lot, because much of the game is about taking in the story. Combat is clunky, but gets the job done, and the episodic format makes that fact easier to forgive.

Another under whelming gundam game made infinitely worse by having most of the same garbage machanics as its trash sibling gundam battle operation 2.

Cringeworthy story, terrible battle system, sub-par graphics, sound balance is all over the board, overall clunky, boring, and repetitive... it's just broken DLC they punted out onto the market with minimal production to make a quick buck. $40 price tag is laughable, should be $10 at MOST. Fairly convinced that the Gundam franchise is just cursed at this point.

Completed all the trophies, but I would still say rubbish level design ever. All they do is spawn a tone of GM with aiming bot shooting at you at the same time. DO NOT waste your money EVEN you play GBO2. Spending your money on the GBO2 for new gundam or buy yourself another game. This piece of rubbish shouldn’t be published in 2021.

Mobile Suit Gundam Battle Operation Code Fairy is a unique game. It’s unlike any I’ve played from the Gundam series as it’s carried by its story and characters who I grew attached to over the chapters. The quality animations and voice work do wonders for the enjoyment factor, and the missions provide just enough interaction to get the player involved in the action. Sure, it can feel a bit oversimplified, but if the idea is to make me want to play Battle Operation 2, then I just might be more interested now than I’ve ever been.

The middling reviews are probably from the people that didn't get past the beginning. The first hour of the game starts off with introductions for the basics of the gameplay, story and characters. Once the real story kicks in, it's extremely fun.

I love that the Gundams/Mobile Suits have weight to them. The heavy slow-paced nature of the Mobile Suits makes the game more tactical and methodical with how you work with your allies. The characters and story are great. The music's great. Graphics/animations are great. No complaints, just a great action-strategy game.

Worth Playing
It's difficult to recommend Gundam Battle Operation: Code Fairy - Vol. 1 on its own merits. It's effectively one-third of a storyline that is a tutorial and stand-alone story for GBO2's gameplay without its "gotcha" elements, but at this moment, the game is effectively incomplete. Vol. 2 and Vol. 3 will be released within the next month. When it has the full storyline and set of units, it'll be a lot easier to make a determination about the entire package, but until that happens, you're better off waiting unless you're a huge Gundam fan who has to play this right away.

If you’re a fan of the Gundam franchise, you’ll experience this game differently. The ambient weight of the setting provides essential context. We’re watching the antagonists as they struggle with impending defeat. Every glimpse of the flagship Gundam across enemy lines spins up genuine dread. Yet even this power is used too sparingly. The Gundam franchise is a massive, sweeping saga whose greatest battles are also remarkably intimate. Colossal wars are distilled into two machines engaging in physical and ideological struggles. So far, this is markedly absent from Code Fairy. Hopefully, the next two volumes find more solid narrative footing.

Mobile Suit Gundam Battle Operation Code Fairy tells an original, different and interesting story set during the One Year War. But there are a lot of problems: the gameplay is slow, cumbersome and frustrating, while the graphics are dated to say the least.

If you enjoy GBO gameplay you'll like this. It has been infused with light RPG elements (pilots and MS level up, there is gear to equip) So far there isn't much of an overarching story, but the squad mates are endearing and very entertaining. This is a pretty damn good SP Gundam bame.need more please. Wish that I could purchase English VO

The art / animation / story in this game is quite stunning. What holds this game back is that it is still GBO2 and the gameplay is so freaking clunky. Ive gotten stuck in missions because i didnt know where the enemies were, or didnt execute the actions exactly in the right order. I wish the gameplay was built on Extreme Vs Maxiboost On, instead of Battle operation 2

A glorified mobile suit DLC pack with tacted on story mode that go too much into the trappings of your basic anime rather than the more grounded military war stories gundam is known for. Repetitive missions with the same gameplay youd get in battle operations 2 which isnt a bad fighting system but just play the orginal battle operations 2 against real players instead of the dumb AI they throw at you in the story mode. If you want a really good story driven gundam game play Zeonic front on the ps2. This had potential but like I said it feels like an overpirced DLC pack with a lack luster story mode. That said tho the characters are charming enough and the art and animations are great but there isnt much more to offer beyond that to make it a stand alone release with that price tag.
