Approximately as big as Metroid Prime on the GameCube, it's hard to imagine how Nintendo squeezed Hunters into a tiny DS cartridge. Metroid Prime: Hunters is a very polished game, suffering more from small quirks than actual flaws.

The game's controls take a bit of time to get used to, but once you get the hang of it, you'll realize NST has done an extraordinary job in bringing Samus to the Nintendo DS...You'd be hard-pressed to find a better online title for the Nintendo DS.

Metroid Prime Hunters is easily the best handheld first person shooter developed to date, even with its somewhat high learning curve and cramp-inducing control.

Insanely ahead of its time for multiplayer in the hardware space it competed in. Plenty of modes with teams if you wanted, 7 differently playing hunters to select from. Something like 25 maps and all packed onto a cartridge for the ds.
Campaign does suffer from slight repetition, but not so much that its boring or unknowable.
Interesting mechanics of other hunters that move around and can kill you and take your octoliths. To hunt them back down to reacquire them find the planet they've fled to to reclaim.
2006 we weren't doing this level of competency in the handheld space with FPS titles, and didnt again until arguably killzone mercenaries which came like 6 years later on the next generation of handheld.
Wifi online play worked well and had voice chat with friends in the menus.
There are better metroid games, but this is the pinnacle the series reached as far as multiplayer can be concerned. Heavily recommend.

This is a cracker. A lot of thought has clearly gone into making the most of the DS’s touch-screen capability here, and it works gloriously. Sure, you still walk down dark corridors blasting anything that moves, but here you are in control as never before.

The best handheld first person shooter on the market, the best multiplayer Metroid game, and one of the best reasons to own a DS.

Easily one of my favourite DS games of all time, great story, pretty bad graphics and slightly janky controls but you get used to it easily. The hunters are an amazing addition to the prime trilogy (especially Sylux). The multiplayer is also quite fun. Overall, amazing game and i would highly recommend playing it if you ever get the chance to.

Es simplemente increíble buenos controles,Buenos graficos para ser de Nintendo DS y buen diseño tanto de texturas y personajes

With a great single player component and an even better multiplayer one, this game's overall score is only slightly hurt by the fact that the end of each level in single player is repetitive and the controls take some getting used too.

Metroid Prime: Hunters is born from incredible pedigree, and it certainly shows. [May 2006, p.56]

Nintendo DS fans along with Metroid fans will be happy with the expansive multiplayer side of Metroid along with a solid FPS experience in the adventure mode.

Hunters is really two games; one is fantastic, the other is not. One is easily worth buying if you have good access to wireless Internet, while the other feels slapped together to dupe hardcore Metroid fans and to put "Action-Packed Single-Player Mode!" on the back of the box.

This feels like yet another genre shoehorned poorly onto hardware that just isn’t equipped to handle it.

Outstanding game. Does a great job of creating the environmental feel of a Metroid game, love the ship controls, the escape sequences, and the powerups. Some elements can get repetitive, but a solid game through and through, and surprisingly challenging at times.

I never thought I say it, but there is a bad Metroid game; Metroid Prime Hunters is that game. It had a lot of potential to be good, with the areas it provides to explore, the lore built within the game, and the interesting new hunter characters. But it just overall fails the process with its horrid control scheme and terrible formulaic gameplay. Stay away from this game!
