Lacks the great feeling of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. The free roam world feels empty and devoid of anything to really do. The races feel way too chaotic with 24 racers and the constant item spam, you go from 1st to 20th in a split second. Too rubber bandy. Character select screen is not well thought out. The tracks themselves aren’t as good and unique as Mario Kart 8. Overall I’d say this lacks a lot of content, lacks depth and honestly kind of lacks Nintendo Magic.

The open world and the gimmick of driving to the next track was neat, but otherwise the gameplay feels pretty much average, just another Mario Kart. And also the 80 bucks price definitely didn't help. I got this game with the Switch 2 bundle, but definitely it shouldn't cost that price. At least I don't feel there is anything in the game of value that justifies that price.

mapa bom, apesar de não ter muita coisa pra fazer, as intermissões são uma coisa nova pra franquia, o modo eliminatoria é muito bom, mas a unica coisa que realmente decepciona é o preço :(

This may be the best Switch game ever! The new knockout tour is the perfect addition to the popular franchise and it makes the game feel more wholesome. The designs are in that Nintendo-style we all love. And 24 racers at the same time makes the game feel chaotic, but in a good way. This is definitely a must-have.

Nintendo did it again. An all time classic. One of the best games ever made.

I have to admit I was disappointed by Mario Kart World. Given that this was the first truly new Mario Kart game in forever since the Switch 1 got Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, that it was going to launch with the new Switch 2 as an exclusive, and that they were charging $80 for it, I thought Nintendo was going to pull off something amazing. As soon as it was announced as an open-world Mario Kart, I immediately had no idea how they would make that work, but I had no doubt whatever Nintendo did would be great.Instead, I learned that the open world is mostly empty with very little to do, and it introduces transition tracks, which fans hate, where you drive from one track to the other — I just don't understand why they went this route. Additionally, they made it so there are 24 racers in a race, which is a bit chaotic, and the character roster doesn't have any fun returning characters like Funky Kong or R.O.B., or even Link; instead it's just all the little Mario enemies, which to me feels like filler. They added individual character skins, but the menu layout they went with is super clunky and overwhelming for no reason. Characters like Mario and Peach get 7+ skins, not counting their base skin, but then my favorite character, Donkey Kong, got one single additional skin beyond their base skin. The decisions made just continue to confuse me, especially when you learn that Koopa Troopa gets five additional skins. Don't get me wrong, the game does look great, and when you are actually racing on one of the tracks it is quite fun, but when all the negatives I discussed keep getting in the way and distracting from the positives this game provides, it gets harder and harder for the $80 price tag to be justified even a little bit. Personally, I think Mario Kart World is barely a $60 game at this point. I understand they will add more free content to the game, but that just makes the game look half-baked. In its current state, I think $50 would be a fair price, like the new Star Fox and Splatoon games, and to be honest that's all I paid because I got Mario Kart World bundled with my Switch. I give Mario Kart World a 6/10 knowing I only paid $50 for it. The knockout tours are fun, and it was neat unlocking Rainbow Road in the Grand Prix, but there just wasn't enough to wow me, and the majority of this game feels unfinished. Hopefully it continues to get better with free updates. Also, quick side rant, but I want to meet a single person in the entire world who has actually driven around the open world with a friend on Nintendo FaceTime using the camera, like they show in the ads, lol, because I guarantee nobody is doing that Nintendo.

Mario Kart World is an acquired taste. That's the best way I could put it in simple terms. It's not a bad kart racer, it's not a bad mario kart game either, but it's very experimental. New isn't always bad, but it isn't always good either. THE GOOD:
- The largest audio library of any Mario Kart title to date, arguably the best selection of remixes spanning across all sorts of mario media.
- The parkour system (wall ride, rail ride, charge jump) changes the entire Mario Kart formula for this singular title, turning the game into a playground for experimentation as well as giving the game some of the highest creative potential among Mario Kart titles in regards to retro track reworks.
- Knockout Tour is some of the most fun to be had with Mario Kart ever, up there with MKDS Mission Mode as a game mode that is so tied to the game's personality that it's almost impossible to not talk about it whenever the game is mentioned.
- The visuals are worth giving kudos to, the game is very nice to appreciate with the eyes and is smoothest Mario Kart has ever run before, partially thanks to it's 4K and HDR compatible settings.
- MKW uses the same kart selection system as Mario Kart Wii as opposed to the one introduced in Mario Kart 7 which has been standard up until now. This allows for players to get into races faster, worth noting that multiple karts also share the exact same stats. THE BAD:
- The roster, while "fun" to some, is objectively a filler fest. MKW is yet another Mario Kart game to have characters absent from the roster that have appeared in previous entries in the series (Diddy Kong, Petey Piranha, etc) also for whatever reason the Mii's aren't included either.
- The open world free roam isn't everybodies cup of tea, and becomes pretty redundant to casuals after exploring every inch and corner unless you plan to round up collectibles.
- When playing online with friends in knockout tour, the entire lobby must wait for the tour to conclude before they are able to load into a new lobby together. Starting a new tour before the current tour finishes, even if all the friends were knocked out, results in the lobby being disbanded.
- Especially after coming off the highs of MK8DX's excellent battle mode, This game has a very weak one. The available maps aren't even battle mode specific, they are locations in the free roam world made to replicate previous specific battle mode maps (bowsers castle being used to replicate big donut, etc) - Online VS Race has no separate mode for intermission and regular lap count races. - Unlocking half the characters in the roster becomes dependant on the kamek item.
- Kamek finally gets turned into a playable character for MK8DX's booster course pass DLC only to be turned into a item in the next title.
- Some characters have way more unlockable outfits than others, prime example being Donkey Kong with literally just 1.
- Certain stats (like mini turbo) are still invisible. Overall, Mario Kart World in my own opinion, feels more like a Mario Kart spinoff rather than the next title in the series following Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. This isn't necessarily a bad thing and I wouldn't call the game bad. However it's definitely not the typical Mario Kart title since it strays so far from the norm with an emphasis on it's huge open world. The roster is weird, but the potential laying behind track innovation is huge. It's the playground mode of Mario Kart.

review bomers are so dumb, so what the game is 80$, the game is great, on par with the series. i love the open world nature of the game.

A fantastic Mario Kart with excellent visuals, incredible soundtrack and mostly fun new mechanics. It pushes the formula substantially, trying to do a lot of new stuff, but not all of it works so well. Knockout tour is a blast and I'm glad to see they're finally expanding the routes. The wall riding and rail grinding are great but often don't pay off. 24 player races are fun but a bit chaotic and I'm a big fan of most new tracks. My highlights are knockout tour and one of Nintendo's best ever soundtracks.

Best Mario Kart game made to date, hand down! As someone who grew up playing Mario Kart 64, Double Dash, and Mario Kart DS before sinking many hours eventually in to Mario Kart 8, this new installment clears all the rest. It delivers better in everything Mario Kart aims to achieve. The simple fact of how well it runs and smoothly it operates, it's hard to put the game down at times. This fast paced classic series, is still a timeless joy to experience with family and friends, or on your own. Highly recommend this game to every Switch 2 owner.

Jogo bom, melhor jogabilidade e gráficos da série. Pra ser nota 10 faltam:
-mais Pistas inéditas.
-200cc.
-Diddy e Dixie Kong.
-mais skins pros pilotos de poucas skins.
-itens personalizados no knockout.
-copas sem intermissions -pistas reversas.
-modo online PRO sem intermissions, casco azul, raio e fantasma.
-modo história.

3 - mediocre.
This game is mediocre for these reasons:- they added all these mechanics for more dynamic kart racing yet you don’t go any faster or gain any advantage by using them. - the open world is tacked on and empty with what feels like an alpha versions amount of content- all the anti consumer/player decisions surrounding this game like the lack of in game options (intermissions forced on you) and the $80 price. If they fixed all these issues (not likely) the game would clear every Mario Kart before, even my beloved MK Wii.

After initially being somewhat disapointed by the game, thinking of it as a ''straight-line driving simulator''. I've revisited this recently and have been absolutely turned around and obsessed with the game. I always considered Mario Kart 8 Deluxe the ultimate Mario Kart experience, but I've fully transitioned to Mario Kart World now. The whole open world concept and a total of 24 players took some time getting used to, as well as the new intermission tracks and knock-out rallys. Nintendo did address some criticisms in recent patches by having a different track selections in online racing, and by adjusting some of the tracks on the straight lines. Once I adjusted it made it very hard to move back again to older Mario Kart games. The mechanics are enjoyable and very rewarding to learn. There's a ton of strategic elements to online races such as learning shortcuts and item management. Nintendo seems to constantly trying to rebalance and adjust the game for the most enjoyment and quality of life. The visuals and HDR experience are excellent. The open world exploration and collectibles are more of an added bonus. There's no story line in any way. It's interesting to see how they've woven all these tracks into the open world, and how the same sections can come back in different tracks. Keeping the experience fresh and interesting. Making it all the more obvious what they tried to attain with Mario Kart World, and how they succeeded in this I know the price was a topic of criticism, but I have to say this is one of the few games I would be willing to pay this for; knowing it's a game that will be in my library for the next 8 years or so. I'm eager for new content, customizables and DLC. I've revised my vote from initially an 8/10 to a 10/10

It's super fun, since you play against 24 people, and try to get first place, and you can also seamlessly play with friends and others.

Mario kart world is worst then Mario kart 8 due to multiple restrictsens in the game
the built bull is wort the be for, the lightning is useless if your in first place, they are not done making the game, and Nintendo cut out fan favorite battles.
the game is a disappointing 80$ if it a free dlc am going to rated 6/10

I like this game. It’s easily one of the most ambitious Mario kart titles, as well as one of the most controversial. I love the sheer amount of post-release content being added, with more confirmed to be on the way. The new Grand Prix tracks are some of my favorite in the series. The new knockout tour and free roam modes are fun too, albeit with both having their own minor flaws. Also, this game doesn’t really reward the player enough. But in general, I think this is a pretty good game.

A well-polished game with an excellent soundtrack, but it's starved for actual content, track variety, and traditional Mario Kart modes (e.g. Grand Prix with traditional tracks)

The Rubber Banding and CPU difficulty is way to unfair and unbalanced. They actually have the CPU cheat. I have beaten every Mario Kart and got First Place in all Cups including 200CC in 8 Deluxe and constantly would get First Place in Online Matches in past entries of the franchise. In the Single Player Cups its almost impossible to get First Place. Single Player may not be Nintendo's focus but it is for me l. After a few days, I stopped playing World and never touched it again, have thousands if hours in all the other games. The Driving on Wall and Grinding mechanics go against Nintendo's pick up and play mechanics and are pretty horrible I think. Online and in Single Player, they force you to only be able to do one lap instead of three fir each race due to having to drive from one map to the other and most including me dislike that. It makes none of the tracks memorable to me. Open world Mode is okay enough. They have a Radio but dont give the option to change the music or create playlists and wish that they did. They tried to make the roster look bigger than it is by making costumes count as character slots and filling up the rest of the roster with basic Mario enemies. Removed nany characters that they know fans wanted to return from 8 Deluxe and World Tour. The $80 Mario Kart for your $500 Console shouldn't have a worse roster than a free to play mobile game. Less stages too. Graphics aren't amazing either, 99% sure World was originally made for the original Switch and just held back and eventually brought over to Switch 2.. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe 8 is better in every single way. Better Characters, Vehicles, and almost One Hundred Courses. If you haven't bought it already, Play Mario Kart 8 Deluxe instead.

OK, Mario Kart World generally is a good game when you are at a party wanting to play a game that is not Mario Party. Why? Because the single player is a total cr*p! Intermission tracks, bad online mode, boring open world, bad and boring battle mode and almost no customization on VS mode are the big rotten apple at this game. At least, the remaining of the game is still playable and not a total BULL**IT.

A good, but not the best, Mario Kart game. The game has wonderful graphics and great music, but I miss the variety of modes. Currently, there aren't many modes this game can offer, but I believe that will change. Another minus is the infrequent updates, which usually contain minor changes, such as bug fixes. This does not change the fact that it is a polished game and worth playing, especially as one of the first games on NS2

Man oh man how I wanted to love this game. The controls are fantastic and the music is possibly the greatest soundtrack Nintendo has EVER cooked up. But the limited track selection with no update in sight and forceful intermission courses really made this game lose its luster.

This game requires a high level of skill to be on top. If you can’t do a triple somersault five star frog splash rotation mid-air then… try harder. Enjoy the smell of my gas! Winning in this MK feels way more rewarding and Knockout Tour is a great addition. I always like the chill free roam single player.

Driving mostly straight roads between tracks then only doing one lap of the track? Why? It ruins what is a beautiful game and some great feeling racing. In gameplay terms, it's a step back from Mario Kart 8.

This feels like it was effortlessly thrown together. The game lacks significant artistic detail making it feel empty and unpleasant. Details in facial expressions of characters are a nice touch on a positive note. Though, the lack of characters and the over abundance of unnecessary additions (costumes, playable obstacles, Kamek feature, etc) don’t constitute the price of the game.

This is a good game I mean its Mario Kart but there are many prolems in this game many of the tracks are incredibly straight with nothing but the Chaos from the other racers to make it fun to drive on which often wont happen there are a lot of cool mechanics like grinding, wall riding, Dynamic weather and etc... but they are all under utilized or have limitations making it better to just keep driving unless you use a short cut that you have to be really good at the game to make the game is beautiful and the tracks look awesome but even in the normal Racing mode where you play one track at a time you will often end up racing on an intermission track meaning you dont even get to race the majority of the race on these tracks the main thing this mode offers is the chaos The Game is fun but its also incredibly frustrating because of this

A lot of the stuff they added into this game did not work. In my opinion driving to each course just makes each track less unique. The open world is pretty much pointless and boring. The online is not very good. It’s very difficult to just play three laps on a track like every other game, you have to always drive to the next course in Grand Prix, which sounds cool on paper but ends up not being very fun. I know a lot of people really like the music, but I preferred eight’s to be honest. Honestly, I’m not really much of a fan of the game. The only reason I gave it a positive score at all is that it can be fun with friends and family. Other than that I definitely don’t think it’s worth $80 and you’d be better off just continuing to play eight deluxe.

The tracks are too wide and too straight. The transition concept between tracks is just annoying. The game is too chaotic and random; it goes too far, making it feel like a game of chance. The online wait times are far too long for matches. The blue shell system is terrible; you're in first place and end up fifth because the last player takes you down. It's fun for 10 seconds. The game is ridiculously overpriced for what it is; after 10 hours, I was completely fed up. Otherwise, it's pretty.

This is not innovation of the franchise, but does it really even need to be. This is not the game Nintendo should have made the box in game. Donkey Kong Bonanza is a much better suited for the launch of Nintendo Switch 2. But as a game itself it's not that bad the open world it's a cool concept for a few minutes. I don't hate this game at all I just don't think the Switch 2 should have launched with Mario Kart.

I like the racing in an open connected world, but it is decently easy to win races, and the intersections take way to long and there are too little tracks to race on, and no link, or the Mii’s as playable characters

There's definitely a solid foundation for an open world kart racer, the core elements are done well and it's definitely a lot of fun as always, but some aspects (such as the open world itself or the intermissions) could definitely be improved. Overall a good game, but could have been even better if it spent more time in the oven.

Compared to 8: Not worth the money and time. The open world drive free and "stumble" into races, meh. The races itself, so bad ai and physics. Overall: Just a fail

This game is one of the greatest Mario kart games we’ve ever gotten if not the greatest, free roam is incredible, knockout tour is SICK! the Grand Prix is so much fun and all these awesome characters to choose from along with the costumes is AWESOME. And if you haven’t gotten the game yet, do not look up spoilers for the rainbow road you need to play yourself all I gotta say is that it’s INSANE!!!

Honestly the game was disappointing and I feel sorry for people that waited 11 years for a new mario kart. The game could've genuinely been good and a 8 or 9 if the open world and intermission we're better. The open world feels forced and empty and the intermission are just straight and boring. The customization is a complete downgrade and some new characters are just weird, like who asked for a bee or fish?
