Mario Kart World features the most detailed gameplay mechanics ever featured in series history. The game embraces Mario’s platforming roots with a new moveset for racers to reach new heights in tracks by jumping, grinding, barrel rolling, and wall riding to multiple pathways and shortcuts.
Despite being a great game, Mario Kart World is not a mandatory title for the Nintendo Switch 2. It may reach that level, given the structure for new content, tracks and characters, but right now, it’s not there yet.
Mario Kart Worlds is a fantastic evolution of Mario Kart's DNA. The open world works perfectly with the traditional and chaotic races, and it has one of the best circuit designs and OST in Mario Kart's saga.

Mario kart world was OK racing to other courses bit like an open world racing game really but it was good though

Despite the noise from the usual crowd, Mario Kart World is still a great step forward for the franchise. With new mechanics and an open world to be freely explored, MKW shows why Mario Kart is still the best kart racer series around.

Better yet, Mario Kart is a title that will only expand over the years. New tracks will arrive in DLC form, and new racers will grace the screen sooner than later. Here's hoping down the line they'll be gathered into an ultimate game cartridge as well, so that Nintendo can continue with its excellent output of first party titles on physical media.

Mario Kart World is an amazing-looking and sounding title on the Switch 2. I love all the new tracks and characters, though the way you unlock them feels unfair.

Mario Kart World may not be the cleanest ride in the series, but between its fun modes, expansive open world, and sheer replayability, there’s a lot to love under the hood. The bloat and some odd choices occasionally throw a banana peel in front of the fun, but they rarely send the whole kart spinning. With enough friends and willingness to explore its quirks, it’s an addictive racer that keeps pulling you back in.

Critical Hits
Mario Kart World introduces vertical races between circuits as a new feature, but some feel too similar, and the open world is somewhat dull. Even so, the game remains excellent—especially in multiplayer—and is the best way to showcase what the Nintendo Switch 2 is capable of at launch.

The Times
This sequel has big boots (or wheels) to fill but World is glossier and the animations are more nuanced. Knockout Tour is the best new addition to a Mario Kart game since the first edition in 1992.

WellPlayed
Mario Kart World stands in stark contrast to the original Switch’s franchise re-evaluation, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Where Link’s first foray into true open world design made for a generation-defining experience, Mario Kart World’s shift is uneven and chaotic, often producing frustrations alongside innovation and fun. A massive leap in fidelity and a lengthy development cycle have shaped a gorgeously realised world and roster of racers to barrel down impressive tracks with a small bag of new tricks. But the time spent between these breathless bouts is unrefined and clumsy, a world built for a console’s lifetime worth of updates that, for now, offers you little more than a freshly paved highway to nowhere. Mind the toll.

Great game. Very different if you compare it to MK8. Track knowledge is key in this game. Once you learn the tracks and how to use it to you advantage, the game opens up.

As a Mario Kart-Fan since SNES i am very disappointed. Boring open world concept, boring tracks - most of them dont even have turns(!!!). Speed is too slow, even slower when you have to drive through water. Worst of all the carts feel like trucks. Tight turns with low speed are just impossible, what makes the open world tasks even more frustrating. And there is no visual improvement to MK8.

I never played Mario Kart before, so it's probably my mistake for choosing this game. I wanted to get some fun racing game with chaos, like Rock'n'Roll Racing. But this is not that kind ****. It's beautiful, but idiotic. You can't see characters stats, you have over 5 hundred of collectibles without any way to find and track them properly, but these are only minor issues. I wanted to get a racing game where you can win because of driving skills, reaction, buildup and being smart. Instead of it I got the racing game that forces you to learn and practice parkour shortcuts for hours if you want to win. Apart from this, it's already confirmed that AI in this game is built the way, that if you don't use any game mechanics(drift, tricks, rail riding), it'll be much easier to win. It's absolutely lazy and stupid.
