Madden NFL 24

You can’t go wrong with Madden NFL 24 as the new superstar showdown mode is a compelling selling point for fans pining for arcade gameplay. Plus, the franchise and superstar modes have been improved in a significant way, and it has more long-term staying power as a result. With the core gameplay as solid as ever, EA’s latest football game is a triumphant offering that is more than a roster update.

Madden NFL 24 is a great game limited by a series of small issues that significantly affect the experience. While certain issues have been resolved and clear improvements are seen in the gameplay, the game modes and menus either remain the same or are worse and, along with some small hiccups that persists, limit the game's potential.

Despite the excellent work done by FieldSENSE, Madden NFL 24 fails to solve some of the issues that have plagued the EA Sports saga for years. Adding poor menu navigation to predictable game modes and imperfect AI, the final result is a game that has some good moments, but has no chance to win the Superbowl.

More of a rehashed Madden 23, Madden 24’s new additions do little to move the chains. Old hiccups return, new ones introduced, and it remains a title best suited for hardcore players.

The improvements to the fundamental gameplay in Madden 24 continue to pay dividends with some of the most authentic football the series has ever seen. But, like an ill-timed penalty, the dreadfully slow menus and funneling toward tedious minigames wipe out any forward progress and move the series backward overall.

Madden NFL 24 feels like it needs a team talk that'll ruffle some feathers, but without it, the franchise feels like it'll be doomed to repeat the same season again, and again. It's time for EA to break the cycle, but if history is anything to go by, we could be approaching a redemption story.

Madden NFL 24 is an improved on-field product, but everything else leaves a lot to be desired.

Good- Excellent graphics; Improved animations; More skill-based controls and manoeuvrability. Bad- Some undercooked minigames; Added (and some returning) elements with less functional impact such as Team Relocation; Occasional unrefined offensive running play mechanics; A lack of any truly impactful additions to the overall package in favor of making smaller improvements. Thoughts- At the end of the day, Madden NFL 24 walks a fine line between creating value for returning players and actually doing something truly substantial with the series. Madden 24 might have the monopoly on NFL games, but comparatively, it doesn’t feel as bold as other sporting games in the marketplace. Madden NFL 24 will undoubtedly inch players closer to an authentic football experience with greater detail in on-the-field play, but it lacks even a modicum of freshness from a franchise that has felt mediocre for a few years now.

Madden has been on a downward spiral since 2019. MUT has turned the game from a fun football game to play with friends into a cash-cow micro-transaction filled mess. The only possible way to even enjoy this game is through the franchise mode, which isn’t great, or playing with friends. But even if you do this, the game is still a buggy mess with loads of server connectivity issues and weird glitches that make it unplayable and rage inducing.

4/10. This game has way too many flaws and weaknesses that players take advantage of. The onside kicks are broken. Players will attempt onside kicks more than regular kicks because they know they have a higher chance of recovering the onside kick than not. The CPU intelligence is lackluster, Players will stand idly by and allow quarterbacks and receivers to blow past them. The passing mechanics the developers wanted are wishful but just don’t correlate to on field play. If you play this game online, you’ll notice that players only pick about 7-9 teams out of the 32. The Chiefs, the 49ers the Buffalo Bills, the Baltimore Ravens, the Philadelphia Eagles, the Dallas Cowboys, and the Miami Dolphins. The superstar X-Factor crap and home field advantage mechanism just allows the Madden algorithm to determine who wins and loses games. I think I’ll most likely skip on Madden 25.
