Everyone wants to repeat Hearthstone’s success, but most new CCGs stick to fantasy setting, and the rest go for sci-fi. For people who can’t stomach either (or just prefer something more grounded in reality), KARDS will be a real treat. [Issue#245, p.62]
KARDS is a great entry into the digital card game space that does just enough to make it worth trying for everyone, rather than just WWII buffs. While it doesn't revolutionize the genre, KARDS never really stumbles much either, and the amount of polish for a game that's only one base set and an expansion into its life cycle is remarkable. There's a lot of promise in KARDS that suggests it could get even better, too, so if it begins to feel a bit more daring in how it designs its card abilities, there's every chance this is the foundation of a real game-changer in the future.
KARDS is a free to play WWII card battler that combines card battling with resource management. You'll need to think carefully about what cards you play and when if you want to succeed. There are some balance issues, but nothing that ruins the game entirely. Online matchmaking is the quickest I've ever seen.

A Beginner-Friendly and Generous Card Game Gameplay & Accessibility:This game is one of the most beginner-friendly card games I’ve played. The mechanics are simple and easy to pick up, without overwhelming complexity. Even as someone with experience in other card games (like Magic, Hearthstone, and Pokémon), I found this game refreshingly straightforward while still offering plenty of depth in deck-building. Progression & Rewards:The game is very generous with packs and cards, especially for new players. I don’t agree with the negative comments about it being “pay-to-win” — from my experience, you can progress and build competitive decks without needing to spend money. Matchmaking & Playerbase Despite the game’s relatively modest budget and smaller playerbase, the matchmaking is excellent. Matches are found within seconds, which is impressive. A lot of Chinese players seem to be active, which helps keep the community lively. Overall Impression: This is honestly one of the best free-to-play card games I’ve tried. It combines simplicity with strategic depth, fair progression, and quick matchmaking. I highly recommend it to anyone interested in card games, whether you’re a beginner or a veteran. Well done to the developers!

The lack of ANY anti-cheat software (it seems they can’t abide even the word “cheating” and only use “exploits” and “glitches” :) ) and the obstinate refusal of the developers to face the rampant cheating (especially by Chinese players), coupled with the toxic community and predatory pricing are ruining what would otherwise be a pretty fun Hearthstone clone. To any players out there: DO NOT use money. You are merely cannon fodder for whales or Chinese cheaters anyway. Let this sink to nothing where it belongs.

The game is centred around a pay to win mechanic. As a new player that's tried out Kards and played it for over a month, In order to obtain the elite cards you will need to spend money on the game otherwise you're just stuck with low end beginner/starter cards which can't compete with people who have spent money. The gameplay is simple and there's not much skill involved, rather it's the power of the cards. You'll have a lot of fun at first but once you start playing ranked matches and trying to climb up then you just lose continuously. Even if you decide not to play ranked, the game will become boring because of the lack of cards you'll own unless you spend money, you're stuck with a limited number of common and lesser cards. I would not recommend this game unless you're willing to spend a lot of money to have fun/become good.

This is the most fun I've had in a digital card game. I wish they'd print a physical version. If they started a kickstarter for a physical version, I'd back it.

If you like tactical card battles and are not opposed to the WWII setting, Kards delivers plentiful.

The price point for entry feels quite reasonable. There is a one-time promotion for new players that provides ten packs for $4.95. From there, bundles of packs, a pre-order for an expansion, and an “Equipment” tab which offers cosmetics like card backs also become available. Compared to all the other online card games out there, this feels perfectly average in asking price, but growing a collection as a free-to-play player feels somewhat slow by comparison.

Before I played KARDS - The WWII Card Game, I had a small pp, no friends, no gf, depression, and no life. These things haven't changed, but the game is pretty good.

This game has surprisingly amazing graphics and sound design for a free game , as well as this , the deck building is fun and interesting . The gameplay itself is full of choices and feels extremely skill intensive . Despite this , the fact that some cards are so ridiculously overpowered compared to theirs is ridiculous and it can feel like the game starts in an unfair place .

Gameplay: From all the CCG games i played this one plays the best. Cards are quite hard to find but i think that with enough time you could do that. The absolute biggest problem that kills it without any doubt is the lack of players. You can wait 5 minutes in the queue only for the game to tell you "There is literally nobody here, you might as well play against AI". 3/7,5 Visuals: What can i say... looks super cool. 2,5/2,5 Story: no story needed, it's a CCG.

Kards is a CCG set in WW2. The atmosphere and card detail is very good. However, the game is plagued by constant power creep and pay-to-win mechanics. You will have to shell out hundreds to compete in the top tiers of this game, as some cards are flat out better than others --- and very rare. Do you have hundreds to shell out for rare and extremely powerful cards? A platinum credit line? Do you understand how to google the best decks in a CCG? Congratulations, you have what it takes to become one of the best KARDS players in the world! You only get 1 gold every 3 wins -- and it you need 30 gold to get 1 special+ card, meaning you have to win 90 games just to get 1 chance at 1 good card. And make sure to keep buying cards -- as each new expansion brings cards more powerful than those before it! You'll be on a credit card carousel! The game has so much potential if only they'd stop being so very greedy.
