After all the criticism, I was expecting a much worse campaign. Instead, I found a solid adventure with all the DNA of Halo, featuring some interesting gameplay additions, and one that, in my opinion, surpasses some of the weaker entries in the series, such as the boring Halo 3: ODST, the forgettable Halo 4, or the overrated Halo 2. My rating: ****

Deliberately underrated and review-bombed by entitled and delusional Bungie fanboys with an agenda, and a false nostalgia memory. The campaign seems a bit dull because it's the 7th Halo, but if this was the first everyone would say it was great. H5 is miles better than Bungie's H2 for one. The game looks & plays great - not sure of the story, as I never follow them. Infinite's the only clear advance in the series - albeit fairly dull too, due to the dead/barren open world. The land vehicle controls are still the worst in gaming (camera relative is just broken and lazy - hence Bethesda copied them for Starfield's lunar buggy LOL!), and Green Thumb should be default for on-foot. Didn't play much online MP, but it was said to be great, but now empty? Co-op campaign can still be fun. The story is <9hrs just to finish on Normal, which is easy, as you can run past battles, and NPC teammates can revive you (unless you rushed too far and was killed by an Elite with a sword, who'll often kill them too). I can't say I even noticed any boss battles - I think they were the Warden bullet-sponges that reoccur. As with Infinite, the Flood are sadly missing, which would have added some tactical variety. The OST's still good, but seems more incidental, possibly due to familiarity. H5 (2015) is better than most FPSs, but obviously not as good as Half-Life **** GTAV (2013), LOL! 8.8/10 (XSX)

Halo 5: Guardians isn't as good as the other entries in the series but it still holds up very well. The combat is fun just like every other halo game and the story is good switching between Locke and Master Chief. A must play in a series filled with amazing games.

Halo 5: Guardians – 8.7/10 - A mechanically excellent shooter that pushes the series forward with fast, fluid movement and refined gunplay. Abilities like thrusters and clamber add verticality and speed, making combat more dynamic. However, the campaign struggles with an unfocused story and underwhelming use of its characters. Multiplayer is a standout, offering competitive depth and variety. It’s a great-playing entry, even if its narrative falls short.

Yeah I don't care about a new wannabe Master Chief. This campaign was flat from the very beginning and I can't say I have ever seen a chapter in Halo fall off this hard or this bad. You can't have Halo without Master Chief - period.

I think that the game is good and is a shooter very good realised, the graphics are very very nice, a revolution for the videogames industries, the unic think is that the game hasn't a protagonist, but in this game, halo was have a revolution, the people than don't know the games than if have a good revolution, normally are people than they are easily influenced by things that playstation says or another companys than are jealous, but this is a really good game

They really ruined their legacy with this one. No one hates halo more than 343. However, the multiplayer is a 10/10. Loved the mechanics.

Dont expect a charming campaign just a good multi thays probably dead at this point

The best part iswhen master chief tells the other spartans that he wouldn't kill them and then his nose grew. 10/10 storytelling right there i will now devote the rest of this review to halo 3. Halo 3 is legit and you should play that instead

Not as good as the Bungie Halo games but not a bad game. They improved the Promethean weapons and made the Promethean enemies less annoying but still inferior to the Covenant. The campaign is too short and feels somewhat rushed. They keep repeating the boss battles until you are sick of them. The levels aren't designed as good as the original Halo games, especially towards the end of the game. The flying levels are pretty weak by Halo standards and very on the rails too. The story isn't as bad as people say although the ending is a gigantic mess. The gameplay was mostly fun even if it falls short of OG Halo. This game is over-hated because it still does some stuff pretty good. Don't let the gatekeeping Halo fanboys from back in the 360 days discourage you from giving it a shot.

I played the game through... loved the singing..... but once it was done... so was I... truely sad considering the love i had for its predicessors

This game is a complete betrayal of what Halo games were. The new characters are dull. The new weapons are too modern day and not futuristic enough. And to top it off, the main bad guys of the game aren't even fun to kill, they're boring bullet sponges that all look the same. The Flood have been neglected by 343 again for some reason and despite the good graphics I still cringe at the blandness of this game. And the star of Halo, Master Chief, has LESS missions than spartan Locke who is a boring cardboard cutout of bungie's memorable characters. I sat through this game with high hopes out of loyalty. I've been playing halo games since could talk and this is by far the worst one I've ever played. Halo 5 is closer to Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare 2.

This is only the second time I have played this game since I had no interest in replaying after launch. I found that on this playthrough I was able to pick out a few more positives to be pointed out. I noticed the large amount of verticality and variety of options presented by the level design. There were many different angles you could approach to tackle some of the enemies. The game also provides the player with a wide variety of weapons on each level so you aren't stuck using some weapon you hate which was a frequent problem in Halo 4. Unfortunately, a very poor story, some bad new characters, Horrible movement tech like the boost and aerial slam, and unfun promethean enemies drag the game's score down. Now that Halo Infinite has come out, the story really stands out as lowlight. The lack of a satisfying ending coupled with that story basically being resolved offscreen in between the two games makes playing through it feel very pointless.

WHAT A GAME! Everything about this game was great; the enemies, movement, new mechanics, the campaign, the characters, EVERYTHING. The new controls were incredible and a big upgrade form halo 4. You could actually scope the guns! Overall the best Halo game I’ve played I actually can’t see why the hate exists and I think it’s better than anything bungie brought to the table. Would highly recommend!

It's a great game. I highly recommend it. It has a lot of action, its mechanics are very good, the story line is very solid and of course the master chief is great.

Lazy and disappointing campaign. Online was well done. Loved the war zone mode. As a big fan of the series I wish more effort was put into the story. It felt generic.

For sure a far cry from the old halo and just lacks the love of old halo. Sad to see.

Very nice single player campain, i am enyoing a lot. Such a great game that i recomend for shooters funs.

The story is hot garbage. It's not worth playing, and I truly believe that if Halo 5 didn't exist, the franchise would be better than it is now. 343 Industries took what made Halo special in the past, and completely destroyed it. The art style now looked like a generic sci-fi game rather than a Halo game, once one of the greatest franchises of all time. The graphical fidelity was decent for the time. The characters feel like cardboard cut-outs of what they once were. The multiplayer was decent, but the guns don't feel like guns in Halo and rather just generic stock guns you would find in free asset packs online. This game is not worth buying, or even playing. I would advise against playing it even if it was free. If you want a fun but modern Halo experience, play Halo Infinite, or if you don't mind playing older games, the original trilogy is still incredible today.

really fun and well made multiplayer, uninteresting strange plot and forgettable missions. the soundtrack is nice. in retrospect, this was an interesting different flavour of halo that im glad isnt its future but also im glad happene.

Halo 5 was a disappointment for the series and not enough of what you want. The guns were reasonably the same and the story is a bit strange and pulls together a few cameos of characters from some of the Bungie games. Most of the maps are unpleasant and have bad objectives. When it comes to Halo 5 the you can say the graphics stunning and the game sometimes makes you want to go back, all in all the game is fine but is kind of just a collective of thing from across the series with filler and new faces.

This is one of the worst games I have ever played. With the false and misleading marketing, horrible story, you don't even play as chief very much, and Lock being one of the most dull characters, absolutely do not buy this game.

This is for sure the worst entry in the mainline halo series. it takes everything set up by bungie and throws it into a dumpster fire. the story and gameplay are not very halo at all. all of the characters not very well developed and you dont even play as the master chief for most of the game. The only way this game is worth buying is if you have beat every other halo game and want to beat this one so you can say you beat all of the halo games. other than that it is not worth it. however on xbox it goes on sale about every few weeks for 5 bucks (the only fair price for this game)

some of comments or review when i'm reading them they are just make me laugh. halo 5 was good game, pretty good game and i think after halo 2 and combat evolved and of course reach is the best in series. not for the story just because of good gameplay and gunplay.

I can safely say that I don't understand the hate for these games. 343 I don't think is the best map designer out there or has the best enemy placements, but they do seem to understand how to properly build a world and make me care more about it. The focus is less on Master Chief and Cortana, but rather on the impending threat of the Guardians and what it means for all existing conflicts. It's a little bit of a shame that Halo 5 picks up a lot of heavy lore drops and fixes to the continuity that Halo 4 kinda dropped when it was setting up it's story, but they are more so thoughts on Halo 4 being a better story rather than a full slight at the game itself. The new protags introduced in this game are a mix bag of people you may learn from other lore drops in the Halo universe and/or how well you can connect to them via their dialogue. While I felt Osiris did have the better overall story and characters, I feel it would have been nicer to have Master Chief go it alone in his sections, if only for the fact to get back to some of Halo's roots rather than waste the character potential in blue team. The overall cat and mouse game that Osiris and Blue team have though are the most interesting dynamic in the game, and really what helps this game stand out compared to previous **** also get these really nice overworld chapters where we can explore sites and locations without the need for battle and just kinda fill more of the universe and atomsphere that Halo 5 has to offer, and frankly it's one of the better traits in Halo 5 that is sorely lacking in the previous Halo games I have played. Tie this all together with a revamped enemy and weapon system that feels a bit more balanced, and Halo 5 looks to be one of the better Halo experiences out there.

Halo 5 Has attempted something new by bringing in a new main character, which is a very brave decision and shows innovation within 343i, however sadly due to poor marketing and poor character development for Locke it wasn't as great as it could be story wise however it multiplayer was quite well balanced and fun to play

This game basically the same as the first one. The only difference is that the graphics are better. Grade: bad My Score: 6.6

It has some impressive visual vistas and CGI, and in some occasions the gameplay is fun. But overall, that's quite a weak entry. The pop-in is annoying, the story makes no sense, the gameplay and level design are mostly mediocre.

Nothing beats the first three parts of the series. And Halo 5 is a bit of a disappointment. The story is lame and there is much new in the gameplay. But it still is Halo. Overall rating: 8.3.

Halo 5 Guardians, was a disappointing game, and is the worst Halo game. Half of the the game was good, half of it was really bad. The campaign felt very rushed, and was bad. The story basically had to make you rely off of the books in order to enjoy it, which even then, the dialogue of that is rushed as well. The art style was very bad compared to the other Halo games. The multiplayer was alright, but at the end of the day middle of the row for games in general, and very much made for only competitive players. Warzone Firefight had some good ideas of killing Covenant bosses, however it was basically ruinied by pay to win, because the progression system in this game was very bad. Getting a Gold Req pack took WAAAYY to long, and as a result, people were more incentivized to just buy req packs, so that they can get good stuff quicker, and some people do not have that money. Forge Mode and the addition of Custom Browser was really well done, and was the best part of this game. It really allowed for people to be very creative, and it was fantastic. And the best part was that you could search for these really cool maps and modes through custom browser. Overall, this game is extremely middle of the road. Depending on what you do, it can be either a fun time, or really boring, and feel like there was no incentive to play the game.

This game was heavily criticized for not being from BUNGIE but 343 did an excellent job. The online game is fantastic, war zone is the best.

This game is like alright. A change in direction in multiplayer was sorely needed after Halo 4, and this new direction could've been the future of the franchise if it didn't launch when everybody was getting sick of movement shooters. The multiplayer's content was abysmal at launch and only was in acceptable state post-launch. The campaign was horrible in every way, it's funny how Halo Infinite basically just erased this games story.

They lied about the story and all that remains is a sad joke like, ooh you thought? Hahahaha… no. Ever since Bungie left to make dEsTiNy 1 and poo & 343 took over ****.HALO

It diverted a lot from how a Halo game should be. The unlock system was atrocious and the game was overly modernized. However, I still believe Halo 5 is underrated and it accounts for a majority of my fond adolescent gaming memories. It's no Halo 3 or Halo Reach, but it's still a gem.
